The Story of Arthan Nixon (FROST Edition)
kiafry replied to kiafry's topic in Aegis Roleplay Archive
((Thanks for reading! My character loves to read and is very illiterate. However, I wouldn't consider Arthan to be a writer yet. He wrote the two books because he thought it would ease his mind and if he died, his story could still be told. Arthan has tried writing another book that is focused on his deceased friends, but he hasn't gotten to it yet. Glad you enjoyed it. Good luck on Artah's next book.)) -
Very good detail. Can't wait to read what happens next.

((Glad you enjoyed it. The books are not in-game at the moment, but it would be a good idea to put it in. I'll think about it. Thanks for reading.)) -

Thanks for the pointing that out. It's now fixed. -
*you find an old, wrinkled, and torn book in the tall, green grass. You walk to a private place, open the book with a satisfying rustle of pages, and begin to read.* This is my life between two covers. Please take care of it. Before I begin, I must let you know that everything that you'll read is fact. I hope you find this... interesting. Chapter 1: Pawn's first move. My name is Arthan Nixon. I was born in Al'Khazar. My father, Issac is an adventurer, while my mother, Isabelle is a villager. I was an only-child. My early childhood was great for what I can remember. I lived in a middle-class home, with parents that loved me. I always craved adventure. I guess I got that from my father. I had few friends, though the ones I had were really great. When I was seven I think, my father had gone missing. I never knew more than that, or why he left. Despite my mother's protesting, I had sworn that once I was ready, I'd search for him. About two weeks after my father went missing, I began to train in swordplay. One of my neighbors, Ottus, was a former arena gladiator and a retired Oren guard. I invited my best friend, Garret to join me in my lessons. Ottus taught the two of us how to block, parry, and break through defenses. He showed us the right swords for our combat styles and the right way to use them. We studied techniques and arena matches. Garret and I went almost every day. We had the poor old man busy almost all hours of the day. At twelve, we were given our very own blades. I still have it today. Well forged iron, I'd say. Around when I was fourteen, I woke up very early in the morning, gathered food and supplies from my house, and wrote a good-bye note for my mother. I can't imagine how heart-broken she must have been to have both of us leave like that. I never got to say bye to her in person. I told Garret of my plan, though I never thought that he was planning on coming with me. He was just like me, couldn't be talked out of going. He was a very loyal friend. So we slipped through the gate and went off on the journey to find my father. Chapter 2: Knight moves up. The days were long, and the night even longer. I swear there was nothing scarier than some of those camp patrols. You see, Garret and I would take shifts of being on guard to resting. Those moments when you hear the bushes move, twigs snap, and deep moans of a zombie is a formula for insanity. We had good times too. I can't describe the feeling that overcomes me when we stand on the peak of a mountain, or in the middle of a giant field. I never said it, but I was very thankful that Garret decided to join me. We searched many places. The trail was going cold. I think two years in, we put the search on hold. We didn't give up though. We began to tomb-raid for lost treasures and artifacts. That made a hell of a lot of minas. We were in our early twenties when we were traveling in a elf city. We stayed there for a few week, but that's when my partner fell in love I guess and stayed there. Not to say I haven't been in any relationships, at the time. So Garret stayed and I left. He swore he'd help me with my search again some day. I've gotten a letter from him recently. He's doing well and has kids. I might go and visit again him some day soon. Maybe take him up on his promise. Who am I kidding? He's a father now. Anyway, I digress. Only a month or so, after Garret and I parted, I was back to tomb-raiding. For the first time, I for some reason, felt like that moment I became a true adventurer. Chapter 3: Rook moves next to king. A cursed cave got my attention almost the second its rumor passed through someone's lips. Cursed caves ALWAYS have treasure. Take that as a fact, coming from a very experienced adventurer. Though they are ALWAYS dangerous as all hell. I went anyway, cause I'm foolish and ambitious like that. It's a long story with monsters and lava and stuff like that, but at the very end of this cave was my "treasure". It wasn't gold or minas or even cheap trinkets. Instead, there was this amber ball. About the size of your head. I held it up. It was light as a feather. But a purple light began to pulse inside. Bloody smears began to coat the outside till it formed elfish letters. I had learned elfish languages before. I muttered what I saw written in the blood. "bloodline" The moment I finished saying the word, The purple light flew into my veins. I could see every vein in my body glow purple. I swear I could feel the power of the world in me just for a moment. Then that was it. I rushed out of the cave to the nearest library. I found a few books and stacked them. I looked through the table of contents in the books. It took me a few looks to find my match. This stone was called a "blood amber". I read that they were very, very valuable and rare. I remember slapping myself so hard in the forehead everyone in the library starred. I read on. If the word "bloodline" near the blood amber, the holder gets cursed with agelessness. It took a while for that to sink in. I read on nervously. The cursed holder shares the curse with there current wife/husband. Lucky me. I'll always look like I'm twenty eight, according to this book. Fair trade. I don't tell many people about that, Lucky you, reader. Chapter 4: Bishop moves forward. I was thirty and raiding yet another tomb for some crown. It was simple traps and easy to make it to the treasure. I was surprised at the time, that nobody had taken the crown yet. I ****** the silver crown and examine it. That very moment, I was tackled to the grounds by some woman. Moments later, arrows shot overhead. We awkwardly introduced ourselves as we got up. Her name was Stim. She had long, straight brown hair, and brown eyes. I offered to give her the crown. But she wanted to split it 50/50. From that moment on, we became an adventuring duo, for a lack of a better description. Stim and I worked very well together and got our treasures much faster. Roughly a month or so, after we shared our first kiss outside the ALK'hazar keep. I visited my mother. She looked the same, didn't age a bit. I think my father has the same curse as me. She was wasn't angry at me at all, but rather proud to see the man I've become. My mother seemed to like Stim. About a two years later, I used a ring from our treasure and proposed to Stim. She said yes. At our wedding, Garret was there. Along with my mother, some of my old friends, and even Ottus. To be honest, I'm surprised he's still alive. Those blood ambers might not be that rare as I thought. The wedding was one of the happiest moments for me. We got a house in a smaller city named "Stardim", settled down from our adventuring (not entirely), and began our new life. I never told Stim about my curse that we both shared. Chapter 5: Queen is taken. As much as I loved adventurer, I must admit, you villagers and simple folk, have a very good and relaxing life. It's been two happy years of relaxing. My wife is pregnant. I was nervous of being a father, to be honest. Eager too, but nervous. We had names ready. For a boy, it would be Ivan. For a girl, it would be Liz. I had made friends with some of the other villagers. They gave me advice on being a father. Every now and then, a traveler would stay over night in the village. Boy, was it weird to see what was basically myself, years ago, but from a different perspective. I told Stim that I would be back from Al'Khazar in a few days. I was going there to get some minas from the bank. She gave me a quick kiss and said she loved me. Everytime she did that I'd get a warm feeling in my heart. Is that love or heartburn? So, I left like I do every few months. Excuse me if I try to speed this part up, but I've never told anybody this before. I came back to Stardim and it was a battleground. My heart felt like it was ripped into my throat. The surrounding walls were smashed, charred corsped littered the ground, and flames blazed into the sky. I kept checking my map to see if this was Stardim. It was. I was in denial. I entered the remains of my what was my village. It must have been an undead raid. I saw the bloodied, dead versions of my friends. A peaceful town was twisted and turned into this hell-hole. Then, I saw my worse fear. My house, reduced to ash and coals, and my beautiful, sweet wife, Stim, lying on the streets, stained with blood. My held tears forced out. I sat next to her. She was still alive, but hardly. Neither of us could say a word. I sat there till here last breath ended. We met each other the same way she died. Awkwardly on the floor. Then my wife and child I never saw, died. Chapter 6: Checkmate. It took a large toll on any sanity I had left. She haunts me. I'm afraid to move on. Is it just me thinking it's her, or is she actually there? I can see a bloody version her, hear her, feel her presence. She screams into my ear, tells me who to be. I don't even know who I am any more. I have resumed my adventuring, and looking for my father. I guess Stim is still with me. She'll be there for the rest of my very long life. It's the first time I can consider my curse to be a curse. That's all I have to tell you, reader. I wanna thank you for making me feel like I've lifted a weight off my shoulders. Stim has been talking to me this whole time of me writing, she still is. She wants to make sure the story is right I guess. Thank you again reader. My name is Arthan Nixon. *you notice that there's something scribbled under the last sentence* "and my name is Stim Nixon." *You close the book, and smile. You've learned a lot. You take the book back where you found it. Just as you place it, you feel a slight chill. Next to you is another book. You take it and study it for a moment. It's titled "The Writ of Frost". You force it open, as it seemed to have been frozen shut. You begin to read again.* Chapter I: A Cold Wind Simple guardsmen didn't stop the undead from destroying Stardim. Posh royal politicians didn't stop Al'Khazar from being over-run with crime. My friends have been kidnapped and murdered. I'm no hero. I'm no desperate fool craving fame and fortune. I'm a symbol of hope and justice to the good folk of Al'Khazar. I'm a symbol of fear to the lowlife crime. I'm a symbol that tells others that you don't need to be a guard to do the right things and stand up for yourself and others. I'm Frostbite. My costume is just a way to make me anonymous. It's enchanted to make my eyes glow bright blue and to give me a cold aura. Don't fear if you see me, unless your on my list. Then you should feel fear. Chapter II: Snowflake The starting months were the worst. The guards hated my idea. They would arrest me. My sworn respect towards them would make me never disobey them. It wasn't until I saved someone from drowning, caught a few undead spies, and fractured a few criminal skulls until the people understood that I was here to help. Guards would call on me for help and to investigate a crime scene. I feel needed now. Not just like I am doing something that wouldn't make a difference. However, I new problem arises. People expect me to always be there. I have two lives to balance. I can not always be there, despite my best efforts. This can be my official apology to anybody I couldn't save because I wasn't there. I'm sorry. Chapter III: Hail When the city seems to be fine, I walk among the citizens. Nobody knows who I truly am. A strike of lighting within the city. No winds, no rain, no smell of a storm. Undead magic. The crowd gathers to investigate, I change in a secure location. We debate what happens. Guards called for assistance for anyone who is willing and able to fight, all others go find cover. I go on the rooftops to get a look. Lightning strikes again -- by the harbor. I run over to investigate. I see dead bodies. Hooded figures standing over them, laughing manically. Dawn's Bakery is lit on fire. I couldn't let it spread. I call out the positions of the undead and run to put out the fires. Putting my cold hands over the fires makes them die out slowly. The undead noticed me. The guards arrive to distract them. I climb to the roof to put out the last flames. That's when she appeared next to me. She screams at me, telling me not to be someone I'm not. I tell her she's not real, she can't hurt me. She died years ago. She picks me up by my throat and says I'm wrong. I heard a crash above me, blue lighting, smoke fire, screaming, laughing, blurs, water, then nothing. Chapter IV: Blizzard I wake up on a beach. Waves splash away my fatigue. My costume: torn and burned. My bones: fractured and broken. I struggle to get up. All colors are faded. My vision blurred. I notice where I am. This island is near my house. She appears again. "I told you to stop." I don't reply. She puts out her hand. "If you go with me now, we can be together forever." She says in a soft voice. I wipe the blood trailing down my face and say. "I can't." She screams and disappears. My vision slowly returns to normal. As I began my journey home, I realized what I just did. I was right at heaven's gates. She was my guardian angel and I refused to die. I healed and fixed up my costume after a few months and went back into Al'Khazar. The undead were fought off and the city was not only repaired, but in progress of being expanded. When I went back into my costume and I heard something when I looked over the rooftops -- someone saw me and began to clap. Others joined in. Before long, I was given a thunderous applause. I smiled beneath my mask. In memory of those who died defending Al'Khazar from the undead attack. Honor bind us. -Frostbite *You close the book. You soon realize who the "she" is in the book. You put the book back where you found it, feeling satisfied. Just then, a young adventurer walks by. "Thank you for not taking these. I must of dropped these." He says as he picks up the books. He looks at you in the eye and says "Let's keep this our little secret." You nod and both smile. Just then, lighting strikes in the far distance. You look for the adventurer but he's not there. As you resume your travels, you feel a cold presence speed behind you. You whisper "Good luck." ((Thanks for reading this far. PLEASE comment and give me your thoughts. I hope you enjoyed the story.))
-
((That's gotta be the most epic comment ever. Dark knight FTW!))

((Can someone please tell me if this is alright to do? I've been looking all over the website to see if I can become a vigilante/hero kinda guy. I couldn't find anything about it. Would I have to do a villan's app? Would there be guidelines? If this is against the server rules n' stuff, I'll delete this and forget about it.)) *You notice a torn piece of parchment on the wall.* To the great guards of Oren. I wish to become a symbol. A symbol of hope for victims. A symbol of fear for the low-life criminals of AL'Khazar. I mean no harm to the good-name of this great city of ours. I only hope I can help make it a better place. Will I have your permission? I'm just tired of feeling useless. I'm tired of watching people suffer. I can lift a burden. Please respond ASAP. Yours truly, Frostbite. ((BTW, Don't meta-game. You might know who I am, but your character doesn't.))
