  1. Hey Estellan. My application got accepted almost a week ago now, and I have been playingon Lord of the Craft since... to no avail. Alas, as you described, Aegis is a difficult place to survive in. I have lost my inventory many times, even when it seemed like I could survive. My hideouts in the wilderness have all disappeared or been raided, and though I seem to be earning a fair bit off my constant encounters with monsters, it is not in the spirit of my character to find a house in a community to settle down in permanently and to begin a regular job. I ask then, as a beginner who is seriously struggling to survive, whether I could take up on this offer despite having played for a week, and thus gain some knowledge about better survival. If the answer is no, that is fine. I only wish so help fending for myself.
  2. Quite happy to have been accepted into Lord of the Craft... Can't wait to be implemented!

  4. Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: BachCounterpoint Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No. How old are you?: 17.5 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Australia, Eastern Standard Time Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Born I Australia, I spent 14 years of my life in France before returning. I am Christian, I enjoy good literature (TOLKIEN!), good food and reasonable debates. I am an actor and am currently involved in amateur theatre, hoping to attend a performing arts school next year. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: 8-10 hours. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: Roleplaying is where the gamer adopts his or her's character for the purposes of the game. The character's logical desires, actions, reactions and pursuits are all put on by the gamer: he or she assumes the role of his character, to maintain the illusion of reality in a fictional setting, and follows the story and lore of the world of the character. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming is where a gamer plays his character using jargon, processes or understandings that are exterior to the fictional world: it's like breaking character and acting as a computer gamer in the game, not as a fictional character. Powergaming is where the atmosphere of the game is ignored and the only reason the gamer plays is to achieve something specific, to the exclusion of other elements of the role-playing world. What do you expect this server will be like?: Having wandered Aegis a fair bit, I expect the server to be fantastic: simply looking at all the different cities and communities was enough to immerse me into the fictional world, and to want to participate in maintaining that illusion. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have not really played on any other servers, as I found them boring, and I preferred the singleplayer. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Definitely. How did you hear about us?: My brother, who operates another server, recommended this one to me as he thought I would love it. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes, number 2108 (or 2109, not sure). What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: BachCounterpoint In-Character: Character Name: Bloodgarhm What is your Race?: Elf Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Bloodgarhm was born in a small shack on the sand to poor parents, in an area later to become Serpent Ridge. As a child he was neglected by his mother, who was torn by grief at her husband's murder by bandits, when Bloodgarhm was two. She eventually died, leaving the elfling to fend for himself from an early age. Bloodgarhm learnt hard lessons in his youth: he slept more than a few nights hungry, and the winter cold thought nothing of his primitive shelters. But as he grew older, he grew stronger and gained knowledge of survival in the wilderness. One day, when Blodgarhm was tracking a wild boar, he stumbled across a pack of wolves who also were intent on the pig. The wolves cornered the boar, as the elf silently followed them: but the beast was ferocious and gored the leader of the pack, forcing the others to fall back nervously. As the great grey wolf dragged itself away from the pig in agony, the frenzied animal charged in for the kill; but out of pity, Blodgarhm lept from his tree perch and crashed into the boar. He wrestled with it with his bare hands for several minutes until he managed to climb onto its back, and he snapped with jaw right around, saving the wounded wolf from certain death. But the animal had gone, along with its pack; though when Blodgarhm returned to his shack, he found a symbolic wolfprint at the front of his door, and he knew that he had made an ally that day. Much later, when Blodgarhm was a fully grown elf and returned to his society as a hunter, he would not forget the wolf he had saved and he swore that one day, he would find the great canine. Blodgarhm is 272 elven years old. wears simple clothing, suited to his environment: greens and browns. He has fair hair like his mother, and his father's strong jaw and pronounced traits. His skin is pale, for despite his environment both his parents were from a high blood line. Blodgarhm is fiercely indepedendant due to his upbringing, and although he has learnt over the years to adapt to organised society he much prefers the quiet and fickle nature of the wilderness. The elf's favorite item is his father's hunting bow, made of elm: he prizes it as it is what helped him survive, so many years ago. Blodgarhm is not very sociable, and many experience him as cold and detached. He takes no pride in his race, and is impartial towards other races: but he is disciplined and will fight if need be, and he will always look his ennemies in the eye with the patient fury of a survivor. Your characters ambitions: To find the wolf he once saved. This was his most marked experience, and the wolf defined him. Blodgarhm also has a keen sense of justice and strives to purge bandits from the land, wherever they may hide, for their kind murdered his father. In the meantime, he offers his services as a hunter and occasionally as a scout, during times of war. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? It is the elf's fight, not his, so he will watch and wait: however, if the elf calls for help, or is in difficulty, Blodgarhm will intervene, for he too wishes to eliminate the bandits. Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? "I am in need of feathers. Allow me to fletch more arrows, and I will repay you with my first three kills. Any news in the land?" A screenshot of your skin: http://imgur.com/E8BLx Other Information: Blodgarhm is mistrusted by the people of Serpent Ridge, who used to name him 'the wolf boy' and blamed him when their sheep went missing.

  7. Out-Of-Character: -Minecraft Account Name: BachCounterpoint -How old are you?: 17 -Time-Zone/Country of Residence: +10 GMT, Australia -Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I speak English and French fluently, and I strive to write with intelligent grammar. -Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am an Australian finishing my last year at school, but I spent most of my life in France. I am soon auditioning for a three year degree at a Melbourne performing arts school, I enjoy good literature and the arts. I am Christian. -How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Until school finishes, I will be on here anything between two and five hours a week. Once on holidays, extend that to maybe ten. -How long have you played minecraft?: I have been playing Minecraft Classic since April, and I bought my Beta account almost three months ago. -What do you know about roleplaying?: This is my first experience in roleplaying, other than a little WoW when I was younger. As far as I understand it is basically a virtual form of acting, where a player becomes a character and communicates, behaves or experiences the world as realistically and closely as his imaginary character would. This means that gamers forgo their mannerism and language to adopt that of one from a Kingdom of Aegis, and to develop that character as themselves. While I am inexperienced, I wish to learn: we all start somewhere, and I want to play seriously, keeping objectives according to the spirit of the roleplay. -What do you expect this server will be like?: Having wandered this server a bit, I see that it's community takes their game very seriously, and thus the quality of the world building is exceptionally high. I would love nothing better than to participate in this engrossing fantasy adventure and to contribute to it's making. -What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: None, as I did not find any that really suited me. I preferred the singleplayer. -Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read, and I completely agree to, the rules of this server. I loved reading the lore of Aegis, the mix of religious references and Tolkien-esque mythology was fascinating and well worth the read. -Name the 4 races on this server: Elves, Men, Dwarves and Orcs. Amongst others. -How did you hear about us?: My brother, who has been playing Minecraft for longer than I, recomended that I should apply to this server as he thought it would be my kind of thing. -What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: BachCounterpoint In-Character: -Character Name: Mathaliel -What is your Race?: Elf -Biography: Mathaliel grew up on the run. His father, a blacksmith named Feaniel, had murdered another elf in a fit of rage, and had taken his boy with him as he fled through the wilderness of Aegis, pursued by a band of vengeful elves. Mathaliel could not remember a time where he had not been travelling with his father: his mother had died during childbirth. Although the boy elf knew his father had done something terribly wrong, he respected the blacksmith, for the latter was noble enough to never be able to forgive himself: and Feaniel was an educated man who loved his son. Despite the fear of constantly being found by their pursuers, some of Mathaliel's fondest memories were from when he saw the world from the back of his father's saddle. During their travels, the boy saw much of the world, and learnt to appreciate the simple, wonderful things; his father taught him how to sing and play the lute, how to hunt and how to hide. Alas, one ill fortunate morning, the two rode into an ambush long in the planning, on the outskirts of Ravenhold. To protect his son, Feaniel surrendered himself to the hunters and prepared to face the Elven Law he had shunned for so long. But these elves had no interest in fair trials. Before Mathaliel's very eyes, they cruelly beat him, taunted him and spat on his wretched form, even as the boy elf pleaded him to stop. When Mathaliel recovered from a brutal blow to the head, he found his father's bloody corpse, the throat savagely slit, and that day he swore to bring these lawless elves to justice. Many years later, Mathaliel had become a freelance troubadour, travelling in the kingdom's of men, dwarves and elves; but he never forgot his oath to bring his father's murderers before the Elven Law. -Character Age: 400. -Character Appearance: As a musician and a traveller, Mathaliel's attire is simple and practical. He wears greens and browns, as he feels more at home in the wilderness. Despite his traumatic past, a smile comes quicly to the elf's face, although his eyes are deep like silver glass. -Character Personality: Mathaliel is just as capable of the sunny moods suited to a performer as he is of his father's proud anger. He is gifted with communication and unlike the rest of his kin frequently socialises with men and dwarves: however, there are times where the thoughts of his past will cause him to withdraw and brood in the wild. Mathaliel is quick to forgive those who slight him, with the exception of his father's murderers (this is cause for a deep internal struggle within him). -Your ambitions: Aside from delivering justice, the elf is an advocate for alliances between the three races (however he is deeply mistrustful of orcs, perhaps irrationally so). He wishes his people were not so withdrawn, and he takes active interest in the tidings of Aegis. -Can your character read or write?: He taught himself how to read, with the help of his father: but he cannot write. He wants to learn. -Can your character mine?: His father being a smith, Mathaliel has a basic understanding of ores: but little knowledge of mining. -Are you a capable builder?: The elf is capable with wood, as he has been building quick shelters his entire life. But castles are no place for a troubadour. -Can you wield a sword?: He is much more comfortable wiedling short knives or a hunting bow than his bearing heavy weapons. -Enjoy Farming?: A traveller has little time to grow crops. -Does your character have any special skills?: His sense are particularly accustomed to the night wilderness, as he often had to travel steathily when his father was on the run. -A screenshot of your skin: http://i.imgur.com/HAURv.png -Other Information: I hope my lack of experience in roleplaying won't stop me from participating in this brave new world of Aegis! I am committed to play by the rules and to contribute in a mature and fun way.
