  1. Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: ponitz Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No, although I wish I had been able to attend Minecon. How old are you?: 15 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I live in The United States, time zone GMT -5 Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: My name is Ian and I am in high school. I thoroughly enjoy video games and if I am honest, most of the games I play are on the Xbox 360, but i do enjoy PC games as well. Minecraft is one of those PC games and I feel that although Mojang have announced possibly releasing Minecraft on the Xbox, the experience will never be as good as it is on PC. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Probably about 7-15 hours a week. What do you know about Roleplaying? What is it?: Roleplay is becoming a character and acting as if you are the character by changing your behavior in game to match the fictional character's behavior. Roleplay can be carried out in 1st-person dialog, and 3rd-person narration of behaviour. I have never roleplayed on Minecraft before, but for the past year I have played on a San Andreas Multiplayer roleplay server and I have become very familiar with the concept of roleplay, i would love to continue my love of Roleplaying on Minecraft. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming is when you use Out of character information when roleplaying, skipping elements of roleplay which make the experience enjoyable ( For example, reading names instead of learning them by being told). This ruins the atmosphere for everybody else. Starting a conversation about what Mojang are planning for the next update on IC chat would be metagaming and conversations like this should be kept in OOC chat. Metagaming can also be used to your own advantage by using any information you might have in real life to enhance the knowledge of your character, for example looking up where a rival guild are planning to meet on the forums and using it to plan an ambush on them. Powergaming is unrealistic roleplay which includes what could be described as god-moding to gain an advantage over your peers. An example of powergaming would be: "*hides under a chicken to avoid detection from the guards and throws two throwing knives at the same time which hit both of the guards in the face killing them instantly." What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect that this server will be a well-moderated RP experience with a busy atmosphere that keeps me entertained for several hours a day. I truly enjoy RP'ing and I hope that everything is as good as my friends have made it out to be. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I've played on Sublimity Gaming for the past few months and before that I played on a couple of vanilla servers. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes. I feel as though I thoroughly understand the laws, and I am really excited about the IC laws and the villainy of Aegis. How did you hear about us?: I have come across the server multiple times prior (mostly through websites like minestatus.net) and it has an impressive reputation. My friends also play on the server and I have heard good reviews from them. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes, I was 298 What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: ponitz In-Character: Character Name: Raynil What is your Race?: Elf Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Raynil is an Elf of Aegis who grew up in a small town far south of Laurelin, he has always been on his own, it's all he's ever known. At the age of 25, he was wondering the fields to collect firewood and he tripped over the root of a tree which protruded from the ground. Raynil tumbled down a hill and crashed through the thin ceiling of a cave he did not know existed. He was mesmerized by what he saw. The way the light from outside bounced around the walls and glittered off of the sparkling gem fragments that had been exposed from the walls over time had him staring in awe. The way the cave was so naturally coated with many different treasures amazed Raynil and he fell in love with beauty of it all. He made it his top priority to explore the cave and as he looked around, he happened to find something different than anything he had ever seen before, it was shiny and he could barely make out what it was through the cracks in the rock which had been untouched for so long. He took a closer look at the strange, shiny gemstone, he grew impatient with anticipation! He reached deep into the crevice in the rock and pulled at the shiny jewel. It was too dark to examine so he stashed it in his pocket and carefully made his way out of the expansive cave. He was back in the woods and, at his pace; it wasn't long before he was back in the small town, he kept running until he found the nearest vendor, Arenyil; and gave it to him to examine. Arenyil told Raynil that was in fact a Diamond, and one of the most beautiful Arenyil had ever seen! When Raynil asked him how much it was worth, Arenyil offered to buy it from Raynil for 500 minas. That was more money than Raynil usually made in a year. Finding the diamond has made a huge impact on Raynil and from that point on, he knew that the dull pleasures of life would not satisfy him enough unless he was risking his life, hastily crawling into gaps in the rock to scour for hidden treasure. 90 long years had passed since Raynil found his first diamond and he was still mining in the same, now enormous mine, he felt at peace there, and using the money he mad made from mining, he had managed to purchase a large estate for himself and perhaps, his future family. One day while working in the mine, Raynil paused to look at the rock when heard a strange sound, he followed the sound to the depths of the cave that sounded like the source. He looked down and a small hole that he had never seen before had appeared. Raynil crouched down to peer through the hole and was surprised to see a dwarf using part of the same cave for shelter. The dwarf was asleep and by staring at him and his surroundings, Raynil came to the realisation that the dwarf must have been there for a long time. Raynil wondered how he had managed to mine in the same cave for so long without encountering the dwarf. He slowly trundled out of the cave and over to his house nearby, pondering what he should do now. He sat by the fire and smoked his pipe while thinking about the dwarf. He had already planned to leave the town in the next year because mining had become far too dangerous. He eventually came to the decision to pack some of his belongings and leave town for a while. He needed to visit Arenyil who had moved to Laurelin 8 years ago to be with his family. Raynil believed he owed his old friend a visit. He left the town without hesitation and wandered through the forests in the direction of the great capital of Malinor, Laurelin. When Raynil finally arrived there, he found the nearest Inn and rented a room for the night. when he was about to go up to the room, he was interrupted by a senior elf who told him that his name was Neevos. Neevos gave Raynil a friendly greeting and asked him to sit with him. Neevos had come from the village of Elewyn, south of Laurelin to trade the wares he had produced from his farm over the last month and was enjoying his evening in the tavern. He bought Raynil and drink and told him to visit his village some time. Neevos shortly left as it was getting late and Raynil retired to the room he had rented. It took Raynil two days to discover the location of where Arenyil was supposedly living now. He found out from a shopkeeper in north Laurelin that he was living with his daughter's family on a farm just beyond the docks of the great city. It wasn't far to walk and soon enough Raynil could see the giant fields of wheat that must have almost been ready for harvest, but out of nowhere came a group of bandits. Raynil tried to stop the bandits from stealing from Arenyil's farm by taunting them with his trusty pickaxe, but it didn't work. The bandits got too close to him and one of the larger ones managed to knocked him out with the swing of a club. While he was unconscious, the bandits took all of his belongings, and dropped him in a river. Raynil washed up on the shore, half-bare and soaking wet. At dusk, he awoke. He stumbled around, confused by his surroundings. He had forgotten about Arenyil, the mysterious dwarf and his trip to Laurelin. The only thing in his recent memory that he still had was the friendly elf he had met, Neevos and the name of the town he lived in, Elewyn. As he had no belongings and no memory of how he had gotten where he was, Raynil figured that Elewyn would be his best place to get something to seek shelter and begin to retrace his steps. Your characters ambitions: Raynil's immediate goals are to head to Elewyn, and find Neevos, and in the process, piece together what happened to him. Raynil had been lonely for so long in his life that it had made him crave a sense of belonging in an organisation of some kind. He has always wanted to retire into old age comfortably wealthy. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Raynil would quickly understand what was happening in that situation, he would then look around for other people in the immediate area. If there isn't anyone else around, he would charge at the bandits and plead with them to let the elf go half-threateningly. Once he reaches the bandits he would attempt to punch one of the bandits, hopefully knocking him down, he would then team up with the elf to quickly dispatch the other one. After the skirmish, Raynil would help the elf out as much as he could starting by asking him what happened. Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? Raynil would acknowledge that the man is trying to talk to him. He would nod and begin to converse with the vendor, "Hello sir, what do you have for sale today?" they would begin to talk about what the vendor has for sale, and the prices of those items. After they are done discussing the prices, Raynil would ask for the items in which are needed for the day's work, the vendor would say the price, and Raynil would reach into his pocket retrieving the amount of Minas needed. He would pay and would take the items that he purchased. 2. I feel like I have corrected my answer for the definition of Roleplay, I have seen other applications with similar answers which have been accepted.
  3. Is this the only reason? Or is something else wrong with it that i'll be denied the next time? Feedback would be nice
