  1. Lord of The Rings has elves. It also has giant trees. And dragons. It doesn't have common magic, though. I don't see what you're trying to prove.

Show me where I once said magic was for the 'elite'. Show me where I once said it should take months to learn. Please, show me. I beg you.

Not once have I said people shouldn't be able to get magic. My opinion is that there should be regulated means of getting it, as a way to improve the quality of magic as a whole. Because, right now? Aside from the locked subtypes, the usual quality of magic rp is abysmal. I don't want to make people unable to be mages. I want to make sure those people are able to properly roleplay magic. If they are self-taught and can demonstrate an understanding of how it works? Of how to RP it? Let them have it.

This isn't lord of the rings, and if it's abysmal get up and do something about it. Helping people is not hard, some of us need to get it out of our head that "magic is to tough to teach oocly without teachers" because it's not. get them to follow the guidelines it's that simple, if they continue to abuse magic even with help make a report or get some high tier assistance. Cappy has hit all the prime point's in his posts and I couldn't agree more.

  2. Simple. They go and recruit the teachers, or the teachers go and form a guild. Then they can force people to join their faction if they want to learn any magic whatsoever.

I'm not particularly talking about completely hoarding a specific subtype. I'm simply saying that being a magic teacher would become such an absurdly powerful and high-demand role that possessing one for a guild would allow that guild to obtain power that doesn't make sense currently.

You want a good example? The arcane delvers/ mages guild had their hands on certain types of magic for awhile. It was insanely difficult to learn certain magic from anyone besides them. Like Charoodler said they had an insane amount of power and influence over magic because of this. locking all magic an making everyone relearn to obtain it would be a very poor move at this point in time, so I agree with lago keep it unlocked as a large portion of the magic community would definitely have some pretty hardcore rustled jimmies.

  3. If you don't have the time to properly do something, why should we cheapen that thing as a whole to cater to you? It doesn't require you spend days at a time. When I got Earth Evocation in Asulon? I spent maybe an hour every couple of days with the teacher.

Sure, every magic has a group holding a large portion of its teachers (Aside from, again, the ones like Shamanism and Clericism - Which probably won't ever be unlocked anyhow), but not all of them. If, for whatever reason, you can't convince the 'clique' to teach you, there are other teachers to find. If you manage to get on the bad side of the main group, and the teachers not affiliated? Well, that's rp.

Why should we lock everything to cater to your desires of "quality magic roleplay" which would mean minimalist magic roleplayers once more? All in the same really, anyone can have quality magic roleplay it just takes some time and patience teacher or no teacher. If a new system like a complete lock were put in what would be done about all the new magic roleplayers now? Some new teachers have even pop'd up with students all their own. How would we go about finding out who's "really" a teacher? Kicking out people who became teachers after the removal of Ma's would infuriate me and many other new teacher around the server today. As i've said before some of us simply can't put in the time or would rather self teach because it's what we enjoy, some people like being students then let them be students there is no need to lock a whole section of roleplay for people.

  4. Again, the only truly clique magic has been locked, is locked, and will always be locked. Every single other magic has teachers outside of the clique generally associated with it. Sure, it will make it harder to get magic, but how is that a bad thing? The quality of magic was best when it was restricted, and outside of the currently locked subtypes, has been slowly getting worse.

Every magic type has a certain group of players around it, you can not deny that almost all magic was controlled by special little groups you had to get into. You want quality magic roleplay? help someone instead of scoffing behind a keyboard and laughing when they're confused. (Not necessarily saying you, but there are a few choice people who do.). Finding teachers is difficult and when someone can't provide the time towards that they get kicked out of any form of magic roleplay. For the people saying "If they can't put in the effort they shouldn't have magic.". All I have to say is this a fantasy minecraft roleplay server it's meant for fun and enjoyment during peoples free time and some of us don't want to or can't spend days look for a teacher, getting into there group, and training.

Getting a teacher is not hard when I started out with my first Mage like char he went to the mages guild they said no, he wasn't to the delvers and polygorath had space as a student so he was my teacher, he was not an elitist Mage but if you want to find a non elites teacher just look around

Finding a teacher is indeed difficult, especially for people lacking time. Why should we kick these people out of the fun? Others don't even really need teachers like Blundermore or some of the mages created before Asulon. Why restrict when we have guides and the ability to help each other?

  5. This again really? Don't we already have a topic for this? Please no keep it unlocked where it belongs. Reverting back to the late Asulon/early Anthos garbage will only frustrate people who have genuinely had issues getting teachers in the past. Leave removed restrictions removed, please. Magic is sometimes powergamed by newer members I get that, they just need guidance. Also magic will be changing in 4.0 (Regarding how you get it) so locking it wouldn't really make sense at this point. I would also like to say locking it now would royal F**k over current magic roleplayers who were self taught. Magic isn't locked to special cliques and groups anymore and with the new magic plugin coming ( with a different way to obtain it ) I say we keep the unlocked magic unlocked.

  6. Hmm seems I missed this reply.. I don't subscribe to threads that's likely why...

I know it's late but I believe now is a good time as ever to formulate my response.

I think you made it pretty clear that not only did you not read my original post and refute it, you also didn't read the several times I refuted yours and other player "lolol guide them" arguments and it seems to go the other ear.

Well, that's quite rude of you to think I did not, Of course I did read your previous posts but you likely don't seem to understand people can be guided and assisted. Sure there are some dinks out there who continually claim they're right but you can always help someone and if not get a Gm or some staff help. The same thing happens to players taught as well, if someone powergames and continues to powergame even with guidance they either need more help by someone more understanding of the type of magic or Gm/staff assistance. Guidance takes time, and before you go off and say "you haven't event tried guiding people." I have and I still do. Did a teacher teach me? no.. no I simply follow the guides which have been a massive help to many new magic players. I'll quote a previous post of yours. "Most of us have tried teaching and guiding them, but our guidance isn't always enough due to how complex magic is." Magic is quite complex and difficult to teach new people I get that but you can at the very least lay down the groundwork so they don't powergame.

Magic applications made teaching restricted. It's not going to cause elitism and exclusivity that the magic application originally promoted and if it's going to, it's not going to change anything because the newbie is still running around conjuring dragons and getting teased by other players. Players can offer him help, but there's too much that should be explained and he could end up ******* it up again. Locking magics without the teacher restrictions will make it easier for players to find teachers.

In my opinion I find that it really won't though. Teachers may be able to have as many students as they want but many would rather keep magic to themselves and their group of friends. By locking all magic you are in fact going back to magic applications, How else to expect people to know who actually has been taught? at the very least there has to be a sort of list.

the phrase "Do you have an Ma?/are you on the magic list?" will pop up in the middle of roleplay and it will be stalled to check lists and groups like the old magic applications did. Players who simply don't have the time or can't meet up with teachers will once more be shunned from magic. pretentious magic teachers will turn new players away from magic roleplay or the server itself. Magic will become over glorified again making people think they're somehow better then the average player, ect. I see no good in locking magic, people will likely continue to powergame if they already do with guidance.

I will say it for the last time. Unless it's IC.

    Guidance.Doesnt.Work

Anyone who claims this without reading my original posts or refutes to his or her arguments will be ignored
    .

I have read your arguments against it and honestly I think you're wrong, "Guidance.Doesent.Work" isn't a fact, please stop pretending it is. Ignore me if you wish but there is no need to be arrogant of others differing opinions.

It's not that I don't value your opinions. I don't want to repeat myself 50 times.

This contradicts your last few lines of text immensely, if you valued our opinions on this you would bother to see guidance has worked and does work for many magic players instead of claiming your opinion is the only right one.

  7. Let's see so far I've bought.

  8. He's literal garbage, please do not Fm him.

    -1

I jk, he's super kawii. He' has worked with me on multiple occasions and would be perfect for this position. He's an FM who wouldn't need training and would get to work as soon as hes accepted.

  9. 1 Why you deserve a model. (Can be silly) This is a must.
Because I'm legit the hottest person on lotc, some say i'm the "fire" that brought them here and the heat that makes them come crawling back.
    2. Character size. (Height, if they're fatter, etc) Use -ish statements. (Halfling-ish, Orc-ish)

Hes a normal sized human, though he is a bit lanky, so I guess thinner if you can.
    3. Character pose. (What they're doin' with their booooty body)
It would be super kawii if he could be raising a staff (golden ho or whateva you wanna use) in the air preparing to cast. If that's to much he could always be in a mid walking stance with his staff.
    4. Character skin. (The flat PNG file, not a screenshot)

    GoIyEtel.png

  10. yes.

Resource scarcity causes trading which drives the economy.

Except every time we have tried to do this it's gone to s**t, restricting the economy is a good idea in theory but it just never works. I'm conflicted.. on one hand the restriction of ores in the past has just pissed people off and on the other it would be nice to see iron that isn't selling for 0.75 minas. We are also getting a skills plugin which (from what I've seen) levels armor crafted based on skill so wouldn't that sort of promote the economy instead of ore removal? This idea is sort of mashing systems together and I just don't know what to think, so far pretty much all of the mining systems haven't worked well. I don't think mashing them together will change anything but again I'm not sure. In my opinion the mining world was a good system just make ores a little rarer as I don't see the need for restricting areas to mine out (Eula might also interfere with that).

  11. I really enjoyed it, sure there were a few rotten apples in the bunch who used the plague to troll. Other then that I found it to be an interesting shift in role play. The war itself was sort of put on hold as well which was quite dynamic and interesting! Do remove the nausea effect though (Or make it only last for short periods of time). People (Filithy pleb Ark) do actually get sick from it and it does strain the eyes after a time.

  12. lord Jesus no, no, no.. implementing the magic team once again is like returning a shackle to the players of lotc and their roleplay. Strict rules over magic is something I never want to see return. Elitism reigned, rules on magic were ridiculously strict, cliques were basically the only way you could get magic, ect. Even if this team would just be full of guides I can only see it getting stricter in the future.. We're here to have fun, restrictions just ruin that fun.

Any powergaming can be fixed with a simple msg or (in the worst case) a modreq to a gm. Don't forget you can always help someone who's rping magic "wrong" by msging them and discussing it.
