((Please, do not take this information IC - this is a background of my new character. I appreciate any constructive criticism)) Past Eli Rames was the first of three children, his younger siblings being Sophia, 4 years younger, and Marcus, 7 years younger. The Rames, living near Alras, were a wealthy and respectable family, with the father, Armus, being an educator of the history and lore of Aegis and the mother, Elizabeth, a heiress to successful merchants. Though affluent, the Rames were not pompous or boastful. They had a small farm cared for by the Rames themselves, causing the children's privilege of formal education to be equally matched with discipline of physical labor and knowledge of the land. In addition, Armus would take Eli out hunting, which familiarized him with archery. When Eli was 10, his family was susceptible to tragedy. Sadly, Armus lost his life in the midst of an Undead raid on a town which he was visiting as a guest Professor. Eli took his father's death very hard, but being the eldest son, he maintained a strong attitude to comfort his mother and younger siblings. Several years later, when Eli was 15, his mother had fallen to illness and died two months later. Eli's Aunt and Uncle, John and Margaret Rames , took the children in as commanded by the State. John and Margaret were extremely bitter for having to take in their orphaned nephews and niece, however, they were very happy to have inherited the wealth from Eli's parents. Eli dealt miserably with the changes for he had not even met his Aunt and Uncle, nor were they kind or caring to the children. To respect his mother and father's memories, he persevered and took care of his younger siblings, knowing that his Aunt and Uncle would not. Eli and his siblings continued their education, mostly because it kept them away from their Aunt and Uncle. Furthermore, his Aunt and Uncle wasted the inherited money away on themselves, causing Eli to resort to drastic measures to take care of his brother and sister. Stealing from food stalls and clothing markets became common behavior for Eli, not because he enjoyed it, but because of necessity. Eli prayed for the day he could take his brother and sister and leave the torment of his Aunt and Uncle. At 18, Eli graduated with a very respectable formal education. Immediately, he took his brother and sister and moved to a very small farm on the outskirts of Alras, where his brother and sister could still go to school. Eli farmed the land and hunted, he sold the excess food at local markets and traded for other necessities, such as arrows, clothing, and building supplies. As Eli turned 23 his sister, Sophia, graduated from school and moved on to become a musician. Marcus, Eli's younger brother, was still in school so Eli continued to tend the farm but also was building a reputable name as a merchant. He became increasingly interested in the mercantile and political arena. Though too young, and not known enough to be a voice in politics, Eli payed close attention to the politics surrounding the Undead raids, government corruption, and the every-day happenings of the local town governments. The final battles of Aegis affected everyone and Eli was no exception. He, like most Alrasians, fled to Kal'Urguan. Marcus was severely injured during the chaos and it did not help that necessary medical attention was not given upon immediately arriving in Ka'lUrguan. Marcus, with an arrow lodged in his shoulder and a broken leg, had a deadly infection set in quickly causing his death just days before leaving for the ships. Eli had not escaped injury either; while fleeing Alras, fiery debris was blown into Eli's face, causing scarring, and blindness, of his right eye. Present Day Eli sits on the Alrasian ship, grieving the loss of his brother and, with no success of finding his sister, assuming her death. He makes himself busy helping others and organizing food supplies, so he doesn't lose his mind in worry. Like others, he feels lucky to have made it this far…to have survived the downfall of Aegis, even when those closest to him have not….but he realizes the arduous journey ahead of making it safely to the new lands. He realizes others have it worse than he, so, like all other times in his life, Eli perseveres and attempts optimism for the future…..

((OOC - This is my first attempt at writing a story. My character is Thomas McThorne and his personality is based completely off of this story. I truly appreciated constructive criticism. PLEASE - NONE of this information is to be taken IC.)) Thomas had a privileged upbringing consisting of education, wealth, and security. After all, he is the offspring of generations of military guards and soldiers - namely from Oren. Thomas was educated in the arts, history, language, science, and even swordsmanship and archery, though he never saw his future in the military. His father respectfully resigned after 25 years of service as an Oren guard and began merchanting. Thomas's father would take him from port to port, and town to town, merchanting rare and valuable items. It was not until Thomas was several years older that he realized his father's methods of merchanting were unorthodox and impertinent - not too mention his growing unfaithfulness to Thomas's mother. However, none of this bothered Thomas so much; the thrill of adventure, the wealth, the experience of seeing new lands people drew Thomas towards this life. On the other hand, the new lifestyle adopted by Thomas's father disgusted his mother, who eventually left. Neither Thomas or his mother understood why his father embraced this newfound lifestyle. Perhaps it was simply the wealth or maybe just the adventure. Thomas did not care for the reason, he simply loved this new style of adventure. After around 7 years of traveling Thomas and his father encountered a very severe storm, causing their ship to capsize. Amongst the wreckage, Thomas was able to float on debris and survive; the same cannot be said for his father. Losing everything dear to him, Thomas began to live a socially secluded life. He lived on the outskirts of towns, had no friends, moved from place to place, and survived by stealing from farms and sleeping in abandoned homes. This life grows old and after 2 years Thomas had decided to move back to a more civilized life. He was offered a generous job by Lord Kashi to take care of the farm on his private estate. The job paid well and he began to find more opportunities of wealth. With his experience in merchanting, he was offered a job at the Aegian Trading Company as a merchant. None know of his exact knowledge of merchanting - remember, Thomas was trained by his father, who cheated many to make his riches. Thoughts ravage Thomas's mind - he is convinced to live the life his father has taught him. A life of riches and adventure....by any means necessary.

Patch 1.7.6 | Bugfixing Wave #1
GeraldMcNibbits replied to Deleted User 009's topic in News & Announcements Archive
I'm not sure if this is technically a bug, but this is what I found. On a plot of land I was given building permission to farm I noticed I could farm sugarcane, even though I haven't the correct level for farming sugarcane. What I did was struck the bottom of the sugarcane and before it reappeared I struck the ground with a hoe which caused me to be able to farm the sugarcane. -

OOC: Looking for someone to role-play with
GeraldMcNibbits replied to char615's topic in Asulon Roleplay Archive
((I don't think being a homosexual orc is a bad idea at all. However, your idea that being a homosexual orc automatically makes you "merciful" or "kind" is very stereotypical of homosexuals to begin with. Now, a homosexual orc that still is just as bloodthirsty, violent, stubborn, etc. as all other orcs....well, then that just seems to be really cool!)) -
The New World and You: A Teaser
GeraldMcNibbits replied to MrZombez's topic in News & Announcements Archive
If the RP-lore is going to be that our current world is going into cataclysm and exodus, and its citizens are making a run for it to this "new world", then I think we should be able to bring over what we can carry. I am not sure if this should mean a full inventory or perhaps just the 9 or so spots that show up on our tab. I am not sure what we should do about the Minas....I certainly don't want an inflated economy. Whatever the scenario, I do feel that we should be able to carry over some items to get a solid start. -

Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: GeraldMcNibbits Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No How old are you?: 22 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: US Eastern/United States Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, very Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Aside from obviously enjoying gaming, I am currently a senior in college studying Conservation Biology. With that, I thoroughly enjoy science and studying the natural world. Additionally, I like to play guitar and bass and have been playing for 12 years. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I cannot give an exact amount of hours. However, I am more than willing to dedicate as much as time as necessary to develop my character and be very involved in the community story-lines. I will be very involved, time commitment will not be an issue. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: I haven't role-played in a couple years, however, I have previously role-played on the game Ultima Online. I dedicated several years to role-playing in that game and became a very dedicated member to its community. Role-playing is taking on the persona of a created character that fits the time period, pre-existing story, and any other features developed on a certain game. Essentially, while role-playing, it is necessary to become the character you created, to speak, behave, and carry on as that character. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming is acting out-of-character and portraying knowledge in which that character should not know in-game. Powergaming is the process of developing ones character to maximize its progress in an unrealistic manner given the specifics of the game being played. What do you expect this server will be like?: It appears to be have a mature atmosphere of dedicated role-players. Experienced and new role-players seem to give full effort to make this server very enjoyable. The dedication to staying in-character is a preconceived notion I have of this server and believe it will hold true. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I played on HeroCraft. I simply lost interest in the community there because it doesn't fit my type of play style. It was a fun server, just not for me. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes How did you hear about us?: I did a Google search for Minecraft role-playing servers. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes, 1,802 (I think) What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: GeraldMcNibbits In-Character: Character Name: Thomas McThorne What is your Race?: Human Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Thomas McThorne - Age: 23 - Height: 6'1 - Weight: ~180 lbs (muscular build) - Hair Color: Brown His father, previously a Guard in the Oren Army, instilled loyalty and respect for the Kindgom of Oren in Thomas. Not forcing Thomas to join the Oren Army, however, his father did teach him how to handle weapons, and fairly effectively. More recently, Thomas's father had retired from the Army and became a successful and rather wealthy merchant....of sorts. Thomas, starting at the age of 14, began accompanying his father on his merchanting expeditions. Thomas developed a love for the seas and adventure; he enjoyed the wealth this occupation brought, however, it was merely a bonus. In utter disagreement on his fathers newfound success, Thomas's mother had left his father. With disgust in his mothers actions, Thomas refuses contact and association with her and gave complete loyalty to his father. In the most recent of years, Thomas lost his father...ironically, not to bloodshed, but to a violent storm that capsized his ship. In complete despair, Thomas, with only what he salvaged from the wreck, retreated socially and began to live a life in which many would deem unacceptable. Living on the outskirts of towns, moving from place to place, making his way by any means necessary. It is only until recently that Thomas has decided to come back to a more civilized life. His life, thus far, has created, on one hand, a bitter, angry, young man with no family, friends, or place to call his own. On the other hand, he is a respectable, fair, and loyal human. Only the future can tell what Thomas will get himself into and how he will grow as a man. Your characters ambitions: I now wish to come back to a more civilized way of life. Being a vagabond no longer fits me...I yearn for more. I am open to many opportunities in this life and of ways to make a living....whether they come by more legitimate means or not. I would like to find a group of individuals to become a part of....perhaps even the Army. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? *Thomas sneaks around bushes and trees to get a better view of the scenario* "Hey! Over 'ere y'fools!" One bandit runs to Thomas and is quickly subdued by a well placed arrow shot. Quickly, the other bandit retreats. *Thomas sighs* "An' what was that all 'bout?!", asks Thomas. "A local group of bandits have been harassing me for some time....I do not know if I would have made it out alive this time if it weren't for you...", explains the Elf. "It's nothin'. Tell ya' what....I hear you Elves make some fine brew. Give me a pint of yer best an' we call it even, aye?" Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? "Ay, do y'have any ale?...I'll take the strongest. Perhaps a nice lady to send me back with?" *grins* "The ale I can help you with, sir...however, I will take your comment about a lady to be a joke", says the store owner. *Thomas laughs* "Both of the desires were serious, sir, but I'll be fine with some ale. Could ya' tell me where I could find a good craftsman so I can get me some new arrows?", asks Thomas. "Sure thing sir, I actually have some here." *Transaction is made* A screenshot of your skin: Other Information: I look forward to joining this server and becoming an active part of the community!
