Out-Of-Character:
Minecraft Account Name: Gumdropz
Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: I did not attend minecon, so I did not have the chance to sign up.
How old are you?: I’m 18.
Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Central Time Zone in the United States of America
Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I am fairly confident that I have a sufficient grasp on the English language.
Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I like to classify myself as a double-edged nerd: I love to play video games, but I also take my academics seriously. I tend to be more of an introvert than an extrovert, wrapped up in my own thoughts, but overall I am a friendly person and will treat those who deserve it with respect.
How much time could you be on the server weekly?: The amount of time I’m online depends on my schedule as this is my senior year of high school and I’m going through the whole college apps process, but I tend to spend at least 2-3 hours each day on weekdays and around 4-5 hours each day on the weekends.
What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: I’ve done some roleplaying before, mainly through the use of forums, and I’ve enjoyed doing so. It’s been a little while since I’ve last been a part of a roleplay, but I’m interested in starting it up again. To me, roleplaying is when you step into a character and become as they are in personality and in action so that given any variety of situations or storylines, you, as your character, give the appropriate responses.
In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming refers to a character being “all-knowing” in that he/she should know things that technically should not be known to that character. Powergaming roughly entails a character that tries to take on the role of a god, acting as though they are invincible and can defeat any other character that tries to harm them in anyway. They’ll also try to take on abilities to make life easier for them rather than taking their role realistically.
What do you expect this server will be like?: I think this will be an exciting new experience for me since I’ve only ever participated in forum roleplays instead of something that happens to be more interactive. I’m really hoping to find a friendly community and something that will keep me captivated for a long time.
What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played both on Heaven and Hell and Xenonia. Heaven and Hell tended to be more about PVP than the RPG air that it promised to be which became increasingly disappointing to me, and it also wiped the server often, discouraging pure creation. As for Xenonia, I still enjoy this server because it is vanilla and I like playing minecraft traditionally, but I am interested in trying something new and unique that I’m positive this server holds.
Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes.
How did you hear about us?: I was referred to this server by Illiam Rhovan (Minecraft Account Name is RubixRoleplayer).
Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? I have not voted for it, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t. It seems silly to vote for something unless you have experienced it or been a part of it.
What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Gumdropz
In-Character:
Character Name: Aiya Torynn
What is your Race?: Human
Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): To pinpoint Aiya’s complex being is not a simple task, but she is roughly twenty-one years of age, slender, and slightly above average in height. She has full lips, long, light brown hair that curls towards the end, and powerful ice blue eyes, the kind that have the ability to stop one in his tracks and appear to pierce into his soul. Her trademark is a silver pendant of a wolf that she rarely removes. Aiya is strongly free-spirited, but carries an unusual grace in her step that mirrors her maturity of which is foreign to someone of her age. Although she appears solitary, Aiya has a connection to nature that most would not understand, especially with wolves and is known to wander the woods singing in a way that harmonizes with the music of the forest.
This secluded behavior was not something she was born with; it was something learned, stemming from a pivotal point in her life that affected her in more ways than is seen. Yet, this is a tale that will be told in time. Aiya was born in a small village outside of Oren, experiencing the labors of hard work of the farm. Regardless, the family maintained a comfortable living. Although she was treated fairly and with great love, Aiya’s independence and wandering spirit drew her away from her village to travel lands far from home to begin a life on her own.
Eventually, Aiya settled down in a quaint, tightly-knit town, working as an apothecary and living in a small cottage that housed a private garden. Aiya quickly became well-respected and loved by the townsfolk, building a humble reputation for herself through her medicinal compounds. Because of her occupation, Aiya became increasingly connected to the forest, growing to understand its songs, its inhabitants and its rhythm and became the daughter of the woods.
It would have been perfectly plausible that given how Aiya’s life was progressing, she would have happily married, grown old, and died peacefully in a community surrounded by loved ones. But, of course, this is not her story. The beginning of her change occurred the day she stumbled upon a collapsed warrior in the woods during one of her herbal gatherings, a man with hair and eyes as dark as night, wearing battered armor dried with blood and so covered in wounds that it was miraculous that he was alive. With great care, Aiya carried him back to her home and began to nurse his wounds, a process that would take months to restore the man to full health. During that time, the two fell deeply in love--not the standard love most people feel, but a love that was silent, yet inexplicably wild, a love that fused their souls into one; they were the other’s half, and for one to lose the other would shatter the world, causing the heavens to cry bitterly.
There was one, however, that within the shadows despised the fallen warrior for his existence. He was an iniquitous man with a rat-like face and troubling eyes, and it was he who secretly had been plotting to take Aiya for his own. Frustrated by the intruder’s unexpected involvement in his plans, the mischievous devil set out to unveil the truth behind the warrior’s identity. It was he that discovered that the warrior was in reality a wanted outlaw of Oren who had escaped from his pursuers previously, and it was he who brought the law back to the small village to take care of the annoyance he considered to be Aiya’s lover.
The men that smelled of death arrived at Aiya’s humble home during the time of day that was routine for Aiya to attend to the recovering, but not fully healed, wounds of the warrior. Lead by the rat, the group of soldiers burst through her door, and the warrior’s true identity was revealed to her; but, this truth hardly cracked her devotion to the man that lay in front of her. Instead, a cold realization dawned on her horror-struck mind that these men had come here for the sole purpose of killing him. All too soon, they were moving towards the pair, and, immediately, in an act of desperation to protect that which she loved, Aiya lunged at the men, but was met with a harsh hand that knocked her away, her head colliding with one of the stone tables as she fell. Stunned and slightly dazed, Aiya was too confused as she watched the warrior she had striven to protect rise, take arms, and engage in battle; but, being out-numbered by skilled soldiers and still injured, his fight was doomed to fail. Aiya’s mind was just clearing when her eyes watched the tip of a sword enter through the bare back of the dark warrior, piercing through his heart. Her eyes saw the precious blood of his spill from the death blow, saw the sword retrieved from his torso and the hideous gaping hole left by it, and saw the eyes of her beloved glaze as life drained quickly from him. And then, he breathed no more, and all was still, including the feeling in Aiya’s heart, leaving a hollow emptiness in its stead.
That day was a day of bitter, painful memories--memories the brain tries to repress, but still exist despite its best attempts to do so.
The only emotions that blossomed within Aiya’s heart were ones of deep hatred and cold fury. It left her outside appearance indifferent, but those emotions existed inside of her, giving birth to the dangerous creature of quiet anger. Numb, Aiya tracked down the soliders and the one who betrayed her and slaughtered them all in the most gruesome manner without remorse or a sound, astonishing the villagers that such a tranquil flower could morph into this hateful being. However sympathetic the villagers had felt, it did not prevent the disapproval that filled their minds. Rather than executing her for her retributive crimes, Aiya was banished from the village she had grown to love.
Given no other choice, Aiya transformed into a vagabond, traveling from village to village selling her brews and medicines (of which she continues to do to this day); however, she began to prefer spending her time in the woods where the music of the forest managed to still the mourning that resonated in her soul, even for just a moment; and in return, she weaved songs from her heart, sad and forlorn, and gave them to the woods to understand her broken spirit. The former pleasant, smiling healer was a shadow of herself; what remained was a cool, distant woman with icy eyes that pierced the soul with their intensity, but that reflected all the pain, sorrow, and rage that rooted themselves into the core of her spirit.
Your characters ambitions: After the destruction of her other half, something buried within Aiya had crumbled to dust, and she lost her sense of purpose. In actuality, she is broken, and although she consciously feels as though she lives a meaningless existence, a part of her strives to find something to bring the joys of life that she once knew.
Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Despite her experiences, Aiya continues to have a desire to help those that are in need. A need for retribution lies in her heart, so Aiya would join the elf in battle to fight off the bandits. Although she is still fairly new to combat, spending much time in the woods traveling has forced Aiya to become self-sufficient. Hunting has allowed her to gather a few skills, and Aiya continues to perfect these skills with every passing day.
Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? Aiya would silently wander the shop, then turn to the store owner and say: “I’m a traveling healer of a kind. I was wondering if you would be willing to trade strips of dried meat, a loaf of bread, and leather boots in exchange for some medicines and potions of mine?” She would then hold his gaze until he responded.
