  1. Aye, ye may be 'avin' a point 'ere. I be rushin' into constructin' a new tavern, when I should be aidin' existin' ones in growth. I would be greatly interested in 'elpin' at yer tavern. As fer te name, I do ask one ting. I had me a floor design ta match te name. I wouldn't know if yer tavern has te required room ta fit it. (14 blocks by 16 blocks would be needed). I shalt provide a picture of it ASAP. // OOC Lastly, I would like to ask how ales are displayed in LoTC. Do you use items or is it just role played? I came up with the idea of using potions as ales. Well, to be precise, only the "mundane" potion would be the ale since it has no effect. I decided this because the only item needed to brew an "ale" would be sugar. That just seemed very realistic to me. Also, this adds a more important aspect to the role of the barkeep. The only thing is that i don't know how difficult it will be to acquire a brewing station. So, what do you think?
  2. *You see a post on the Dwarven community board labeled, "Tavern Troubles"* Greetings, my name is Awlrick Gribbs, and I ask that my brother and sister Dwarves listen to a request that would provide betterment for the Dwarven race as a whole. To begin, allow me to ask, "What are the three most crucial aspects of the Dwarven lifestyle and culture aside from battle?" Easily, these are good food, better ale, and the best of company. Although the adjectives may be in any order, these three underlying factors play a very significant role in Dwarven culture. For the greater good of all Dwarves, I believe it is absolutely necessary that an establishment be constructed to appease all of these pleasures at once. Just in the case that my suggestion is yet unclear, I am recommending that a Dwarven Tavern be assembled. As I arrived in the new world of Asulon, I thought to myself of the most efficient way to christen this land as our new home. I decided that the best way to accomplish this task would be to build a monument to the greatest joys of the Dwarven race. I was well on my way to beginning my quest when I came across the dreaded land charter laws. To my dismay, these laws only permit land to those with several prerequisites. I could easily fulfill all but one. The idea of coming up with 14,000 minas was absolutely impossible. All of my life I had gotten along with only the necessities in life, and 14,000 minas is more than I can even imagine. For this reason alone, I come to the Dwarven race as a whole for assistance. I am prepared to make a deal with ye. Since all I can offer is a meager 100 minas, I propose that if the land for the tavern is bought, the deed to the land stays in yer hands, unless I can somehow come up with the intended 14,000 minas at a later date such that I may repay ye. In either case, I am prepared to volunteer as much time as possible to barkeep and construct the foretold tavern. The plans for this tavern continue on the attached charter: *Underneath the handscrawled paper, you see an official looking parchment* -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAVERN Village Charter MC Name: Master_Maggix RP Name: Awlrick Gribbs TAVERN Village Name: The Burly Beard TAVERNWhy is your character starting this village/settlement? What is its purpose? As a young Dwarf, I always spent my free time at taverns. I wish to provide this opportunity for all Dwarves, and all races that is. Plus, the Dwarven race is in need a a good tavern to satisfy its need for food, ale, and a good time. (//OOC Plus, taverns are always a great source of RP. Hopefully, this tavern will provide the opportunity for increased amounts of RP.) TAVERNWhat type of political system or leadership is within the village? The Barkeep (me) shall maintain functioning order of the tavern to the best of his abilities. Ultimately, the tavern will be under the rule of the Dwarven Kingdom. PATRONSWhat sort of behavior will residents exhibit? In a tavern setting, racial prejudices are less severe than the prejudices between the patron and the stranger. Patrons of different races usually show respect to one another after having bonded through stories told, fists thrown, and ales drunk. Strangers, on the other hand, are not trusted and have all of the racial prejudices as they would outside of the tavern. The prejudices are bound to change regularly with the current status of the Dwarven kingdom. If the Dwarven kingdom is warring with a race, there will probably be tensions between patrons of these two races in the tavern as well. Members of the same race, but one being a patron and the other a stranger, usually get along just fine for obvious reasons. Where would you prefer the town's region to be? *Open to requests* I am asking that I may get some feedback as to a good location for this tavern. I wish it to be easily accessible to Dwarves, yet my greatest wish is to share our race's passions with that of other races as well. (As long as we are allies or nuetral to each other that is.) So, a location that is readily accessible to most would be preferrable. Any other Details: The architechture of the tavern will of course be Dwarven. The floor will hopefully brandish a picture in the likelyhood of a burly-bearded dwarf to showcase the signiture Dwarven craftsmanship of stone. The tavern should have a cave-like feel to it and should be crafted mostly of rock-like materials. Players who have agreed to sign this charter: Since I wasn't officially submitting this yet, I have foregone an attempt to collect signatures, instead allowing the general Dwarven population to see my idea and sign it in a space below these words if they happened to agree to this proposition. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *On a separate small piece of paper you see* PS: The tavern will not survive as only a structure. I will need a few other things as well, such as entertainment and of course the ale. 1. I am looking for a brewing station for the tavern. If ye are willing to make an offer for one, post under this please. 2. Entertainment is a key component to the tavern atmosphere. Once I begin to attain a steady stream of patrons, entertainment will be crucial. If ye have any suggestions or ideas do not feel afraid to post. 3. Please post any other general ideas, comments, or requests ye may have. ~Thanks Lots! Awlrick Gribbs
  3. Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: Master_Maggix Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: Nope How old are you?: 19 yrs Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Eastern, United States Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am currently a college student, looking for a good roleplaying experience. I have been enjoying roleplaying since middle school, by playing DnD. Since then, our DM has moved away and I haven't had a good roleplaying experience in more than six months. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: At least an hour a day, four days a week, but probably more. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: I began roleplaying in DnD sessions with school friends a few years ago. We averaged one seven hour session a week, and did get quite a bit of roleplaying experience. Also, I attended a couple of LARP events to experience that form of roleplay as well. As for a definition, I believe that roleplaying is the act of removing oneself from this world and taking on an alternate identity in a whole new one. It is the act of living new and exciting things and having the ability to be someone that you are not. It grants escape from everyday problems in a constructive and imaginative way. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming has been imprinted in my mind as a vile word since the first of my days playing DnD. Metagaming is the act of using out of character information in character or making in game decisions based on out of character intuitions that one's character could never make. Powergaming, is a new term to me, yet I knew what it was before I knew the term. In the DnD sessions, I found that some players would try to "force roleplay" actions without allowing the DM to decide if the actions were viable. This I now know has a name, and it is called Powergaming. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect this server to provide me the ability to once again roleplay, as my DnD group has disbanded because of college and the such. I want to once again be able to take on the identity of a personality different from my own, yet still make it mine. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have been trying to find a decent roleplaying server for a long time now, and for a while, I was on MCProving grounds. This server does not use actual in game roleplaying, but only elements of roleplaying. The Lord of the Craft server is the first server that has proven to be a roleplaying server by actually making in game roleplaying mandatory. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I agree. How did you hear about us?: I was searching through a list of roleplaying servers and came across the name of your server. I liked the look of it and decided to check it out more fully. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Nope. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Username: Master_Maggix (Forum Name: Awlrick Gribbs) In-Character: Character Name: Awlrick Gribbs What is your Race?: Dwarf Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): For all of his life, Awlrick has embraced the two great passions of the dwarven race. Food and fighting were at the core of Awlrick's favorite activities. This love, stemmed from the many journeys that Awlrick had with his father. Awlrick's father was a very well known bard who traveled far and wide between taverns, entertaining the various patrons. Awlrick's father was a firey-haired individual with an equally firey personality. His mother, on the other hand, was a strict and cold individual. For this exact reason, Awlrick's parent's relationship did not last. By the time Awlrick was about 5 years old, his father started to travel farther and farther away, coming home for shorter and shorter periods of time. Awlrick grew worried that one day his father would not come back at all. So, one night as Awlrick watched his father leave the house, Awlrick followed him out. A few minutes after they're departure, Awlrick's father disappeared from Awlrick's sight. Confused and alone in the dark, Awlrick backed himself up against a tree trunk. Suddenly, in front of him appeared his father. His father looked a little confused at first, but then an amused smile crossed his face. "Well son, if you want to see your father at work, follow me!" They continued walking until they came across a little tavern in the middle of nowhere. Inside the pub were all sorts of strange and interesting characters. Some were big and green, others were tall, pale, and skinny. To Awlrick, this place was absolutely amazing. Although, the barkeeper was what really caught Awlrick's eye. This fellow was rough and tough and could most likely take all of the people in the bar at once. Best of all, this dwarf had a personable charm about him that gave him the feel of a king. The barkeeper had become Awlrick's new hero. Soon, Alwrick's father took the stage and began to play the lute he carried on his back. The melody was so vivid, it seemed as though a story was being told through the notes. The song was strong, fast, and fluid and Awlrick closed his eyes and got the picture of a fierce battle. In his head, four dwarves were valiantly fighting against the evil legion of Iblees. The song continued and the tone became sour and cold. The battle seemed to be hopeless, the dwarves were surrounded by an endless sea of undead. Then, the song hit a climax with a sharp piercing note that echoed throughout the bar. The dwarves had pierced through the army and struck down Iblees himself! Then the music went into a glorious tune of triumph as the dwarves returned to their homeland in celebration. Upon opening his eyes, Awlrick saw that he was not the only one blown away by the intense music. Almost all patrons of the bar were focused directly upon Alwrick's father. Upon the end of the song, a joyous yell was shouted by the patrons. They began to shower Awlrick's father with minas and returned to their conversations. Awlrick's father collected the minas into a basket and turned to Awlrick. "Now Awlrick, what I am about to do is certainly not the most efficient way to gain a few extra minas, but I figure you could do well to see this spectacle with your own eyes. Stay behind me now." Then Awlrick's father tossed the basket of minas into the center of the tavern floor. The minas hit the ground with little metallic clanks, bouncing and rolling everywhere. For just a second, the entirety of the tavern was completely quiet as the situation was assessed. A group of thin males slipped out the door. Then all disaster broke loose. From every possible direction, the figures around the bar lept towards the lost minas. The center of the tavern became a brawling arena. Fists, empty bottles, and chairs flew across the bar. This spectacle was the single most interesting thing that Awlrick had ever encountered. After a good hour, one man stood, still concious, victor against the rest of the tavern. As he was looting his earnings, he too fell unconcious. Behind him stood the barkeeper. He walked up to Awlrick's father. "Good bard, I shall take loot equal to the collateral damage plus enough for the shipment of fifteen kegs of the strongest dwarven ales. The rest is yours." From that night onward, Awlrick went to a tavern every night, occasionally following his father to work. He would eat, drink, and fist-fight until the mornings light shone forth. Then, he would rest until his next venture. Sometime around his twentieth birthday, Awlrick's father disappeared. This event really shook Awlrick. He realized that as enjoyable as his life was, he could not continue to live in the lifestyle that he once held dear. This troubled Awlrick, as he just could not leave behind the glorys of being a dwarf. Although, this led Awlrick to an idea. He could change his favorite activities into a career. He decided that he would one day become like his hero the barkeeper. He would attain his own tavern where he could eat, drink, and fight to his heart's content, yet still obtain the money to fund these activities. So, Awlrick cleaned himself up. He tamed his wild, firey beard into a controlled braid. He threw out his old, tattered, and smelly clothes and bought himself a very respectable outfit. Then he set out from his hometown on a journey to find the perfect resting place for his tavern... Awlrick Gribbs Age: 24 General Alignment: Chaotic Good Hair: Firey Red just like his father, a mountain dwarf Beard: Long and Braided Eyes: Awlrick has the "Golden Gaze" of the cave dwarves, just like his mother Personality: Awlrick has a firey personality just like his father. His temper has led him to a great many of fist fights. Although, he is very personable and can handle himself in most situations. Awlrick's love of food, ale, and fighting is always present and one can almost always find Awlrick doing one of these three things. Whether he is joking at the bar or in the middle of a fist fight, Awlrick always has his signature smirk across as he cannot help but to show his great pleasure in his life. Your characters ambitions: Awlrick wishes to share his three loves with the rest of the world. Awlrick wants more than anything to construct his own tavern where he is the most respected figure, the barkeep. He plans to learn how to brew ales of all different kinds and offer these wonders to all the world of Asulon. He also wants to integrate organized fights and other live entertainments into his bar such that his place is one of great sociability and fun. His largest goal is to have his tavern be one of the most respected, even better than the first one his father took him to on his favorite night of his life. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Awlrick is always ready for a fight, especially if it is a challenge. Although, Awlrick would never just barrel into a fight if not necessary. Awlrick would walk casually up to the group to more closely assess the situation and ask the elf if he could use a hand. If Awlrick sees merit in a fight, he will, regardless of the elf's answer, charge the least obvious target and continue the fight. Even if weapons are being used, Awlrick would prefer to use his hands, as a weapon can very easily be knocked from one's hands and he is much more comfortable with hand-to-hand combat. If the combatants prove to be stronger than Awlrick and his life is on the line, he will not second think running away. In his mind, this tactic is very strategic. He believes that nobody can fairly beat him, so something unlucky or unfair has occured. So, he will run away to heal up and train for the next time he encounters this person, in which case he will easily dispatch of them next time. Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? Awlrick eyes up a very sturdy ale mug that would probably survive high velocity impact with the side of an orc's head. Awlrick looks at the price. "50 minas." He then looks in his pockets... Only 10 minas, and a piece of meat... Awlrick answers that he is only browsing, so the shopkeeper moves on to another customer. Awlrick watches as the shopkeeper is busy with another customer and sees that no one esle is watching him. Awlrick casually swipes the mug and walks away. Later that night, the shopkeeper walks into the tavern looking for some drinks. "Ay, how may I be helpin' ye tonight?" asks Awlrick. The shopkeeper asks for some ale and places the appropriate amount of minas on the counter. Awlrick makes the brew and gives it to the shopkeeper saying, "I won't be accepting any of those from ye tonight, good sir. Your tab has been paid for the night." Other Information: I had created an Awlrick Gribbs before the conversion from Aegis to Asulon. I was reverted back to a wandering soul so I thought I needed to reapply. I decided to rethink my character build for Awlrick during the change. I decided to redo his background stories and personalities. I was wondering that if I get back into LotC, will my stats be as they were before I was reverted to a wandering soul? And, if so, could I have them wiped if possible? Thank you! As the youngest brother of five, Awlrick was always the runt. Yet, he always managed to find a way to get whatever it was he wanted. Awlrick's father remembers a specific event in which he brought home five differently colored crystals from a mining expedition. Each of his children was given one, and all were happy besides Awlrick. For some reason, Awlrick was not happy with the purple crystal he had recieved. What he really wanted was that red one that his oldest brother had. Now, Awlrick knew that his oldest brother's favorite color was red and he was the most intelligible (and biggest) of all of his brothers. To obtain that crystal through force was not a possibility and it would be impossible to trick him, so Awlrick decided to work his magic on his other brothers first. In an impossibly complex web of brilliantly concieved trades, (no less than 15 that Awlrick's father remembers) Awlrick ended up with the coveted red crystal while his other brothers were all once again content with their new crystal. Awlrick's love of trade did not end there. As he grew up, Awlrick continued his aptitude for trading and was well on his way to becoming a well-to-do merchant on the dwarven merchant isle of Kal'Rog. By a very young age, Awlrick had accumulated a great sized inventory of items, enough such that he could trade for whatever it was he wanted, whether it was food, clothing, or even a new axe. Unfortunately, fate has a way of messing everything up. Just as Awlrick was coming of age, his father got into a horrific mining accident and left the five dwarves orphaned. Only Dardoga, the oldest of the brothers had gotten seriously into the workforce, and only just recently, so he did not have the money to support the family. Awlrick did his best to sell everything he owned at the highest price, yet even then he could not come up with the money to support his family. So, Awlrick and his other brothers were forced to go out on their own to begin their lives at a relatively young age for a dwarf. To Awlrick's surprise, it was much more difficult to barter when he had nothing to trade with. Throughout his life, Awlrick got what he wanted by trading for it, so he was not specifically skilled in any line of work. In fact, Awlrick's only possession left, his axe, was not even good for hacking down his enemies as he couldn't even swing it without falling off of balance. Although, Awlrick did have have one thing going for him. Awlrick had a great ambition. And it was through this ambition that Awlrick tried his hand at a great number of approved dwarven jobs. Mining, smithing, and excavation all failed. Awlrick was then forced to try his hand at a less impressive jobs to a dwarf. But still, cooking, fishing, and farming just did not appear to Awlrick as a possibility. Awlrick had run out of ideas, there was not a possible job that he had not tried. Although while staring somberly into his useless axe, Awlrick got an idea. His axe did not only have to be used for killing. Awlrick realized that he could use the axe for its original purpose, to chop down trees. Now, Awlrick knew that lumberjacking was not a very honorable job to the dwarf. In dwarven tradition, the axe would be disrespected to have to be used for anything other then the killing of enemies. In this way, Awlrick knew that his days at his home of Kal'Urguan were numbered. So, Awlrick was ready to set off on his own to a place where wood was abundant and he could build an inventory of items. After he had this great inventory, he could finally begin his dream of becoming a great merchant, and maybe set up an auction house or two. Before he left, Awlrick debated on hiring a mercenary to protect him from the various monsters he might encounter, yet he decided to go it alone since he had no money from which to hire said mercenary and had some experience in hand-to-hand combat from the many bar fights he had gotten into at the local tavern. So, Awlrick set off to find the perfect place to start his journey... Awlrick Gribbs Age: 17 General Alignment: Chaotic Good Hair: Firey Red just like his father, a mountain dwarf Beard: Long and Braided Eyes: Awlrick has the "Golden Gaze" of the cave dwarves, just like his mother Personality: Awlrick is firey and hot-headed in all situations besides ones involving some sort of barter or trade. Awlrick has been a jokester since birth. Some even claim there is a permanent smirk on his face, just because he finds almost anything funny. Given his merchanting ability, Awlrick is greedy just like all dwarves, but he often does whatever is necessary to get what he wants. Although, he will follow general rules to the best of his ability. Awlrick is extremely loyal, if you save his skin, he will jump infront of a creeper for you. Your characters ambitions: Awlrick is determined to become the most popular merchant of his time. He wants to create his own marketplace that sells anything and everything. He also wants his name to be commonplace enough for it to enter the language as a noun. EX: A dwarf who just broke his pickaxe. "Hmm... looks as though I need to go to Awlrick's to get another pickaxe." Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Since Awlrick is not a fighter, and most likely does not know this poor fellow, he would most likely sneak by as unnoticed as possible. Although, if for some reason this elf held a high level of respect or friendship in Awlrick's heart, Awlrick would attempt to help this elf. He would try to sneak behind the bandits line of sight, as quietly as possible. Then, with his superior lumberjacking knowledge, he would then attempt to knock down a tree (most likely one thin enough to take down in two or three strong strikes) in the general direction of the bandits, hopefully between the bandits and the elf or directly ontop of the bandits. Hopefully, this would distract the bandits such that the elf can get away. Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? After spotting a particular item that Awlrick really wants and is more expensive than he could ever afford, he approaches that shop. "Good day, sir [insert race here]. My name is Awlrick, and I would like to have a look at your wares." Awlrick looks at at the dwarf he payed to be his bodygaurd for the day, "What do you think? Do you think any of these knick-knacks strewn about are worth me trading this diamond for?" A screenshot of your skin: Skin is on attached file.

Do you think any of these knick-knacks strewn about are worth me trading this diamond for?" Screenshots of skin are on the attached file. Skins.rtf
