Metagaming is when you act outside of the environment set by the game, when you do not act as your character would in a situation, or when you use knowledge your character could not have to give you an advantage in the game. Powergaming is when you try to take advantage of faults in the game to make your character stronger, or to have a character stronger than should be possible in the game. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it will be a fun and interesting server with many hardcore roleplayers. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on Tethyscraft with potoes6, Atticusmas, and HylianMuffin, as well as a few other private servers. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Aendrin In-Character: Character Name: Varon Elderwood What is your Race?: Elf Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.) Varon was brought up by his parents. They were both blacksmiths, and he was expected to continue the family business. He loved his parents but they were constantly disappointed in him because all of his life he never showed any remarkable aptitude for anything even though he was very intelligent. His parents tried to make him good at blacksmithing, but he could never remember the recipes to make a sword or pickaxe and always ended up making a twisted combination of both, which was useless. He also did not even have the skill to put iron ore into a furnace and then pour it out to make a iron ingot. They tried to teach him farming but he forgot to water the plants and so they withered and died. They even tried to teach him enchanting but he got dizzy from all the magical residue in the enchanting room. The only thing that he could do well was read but he could never use that knowledge because he had no skill at anything else. Finally one day a skeleton wandered onto their property. Varon killed it with ease even though he had never used a sword before, and was surprised because that was the first real skill that he had been good at. His parents soon enlisted him in a school of the sword. One time when he was off in school his parents disappeared and even though his house was there since Varon was too young to be a guard he could not afford the taxes and he was not skilled enough to man the family shop. Soon everything that he had had in his youth was gone except for some personal items. He even had to sell the house to pay off taxes. By the time a year had passed Varon was broke. He decided to leave the town because if he stayed he would never find his fortune, as nobody respected him. Varon took his sword and some bread with him when he left his hometown. He wandered around the world looking for his parents but he never has found them. He thinks that mobs raided the town when he was gone, as one other young elf's parents were missing. He is a brown-haired man with fair skin. He is not short but not tall. He is unremarkable in almost every way except for his striking blue eyes. He also carries his quiver on his back at all times because, as he found out later, he was also skilled with the bow. After he had been wandering for some time he realized that he was slowly getting better at blacksmithing, even though he had shown no natural talent. He wants to open a blacksmith shop and follow in his parents' footsteps, because the memories of what they taught him are all that he has left of his parents. He decided to try to look for his cousins who had been living in Alras but disappeared during an attack on the city. He also suspected that his cousin might have some friends in the city who would help him. Varon is generally a generous and nice elf who takes a peaceful stance on most issues. He usually thinks of what would make his parents proud before making a decision. He is a very thoughtful and quiet elf who does not speak up unless the issue is very important. He takes very literally the phrase that says to think before you speak, written by a famous elven philosopher in ages past. He likes to read all that he can get his hands on, and enjoys writing the occasional blank verse poem, as he feels that they truly express his feelings and situation. He is a well educated elf but he had never had time to learn the traditional elvish language because he never thought that he would find a use for it. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Varon yells, "Pick on someone your own size!" and draws his sword. The first bandit runs away but the second bandit stays to fight. Varon parries the bandit's first blow and stabs him through the chest. He then has the other elf help him bury the body because he does not want to desecrate the land with a dead body. Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? Varon says, "Do you have any swords in stock? It would be great if you had an iron sword." Shopkeeper: "Why yes we do have an iron sword in stock, but that will be expensive, a full 150 minas." His parents abandoned him, and he knew neither his mother's nor his father's face. He wandered around the city, fed by generous shopkeepers. When he was but a young lad he was taken on as a blacksmith's apprentice. He left Alras just before the attack to find his fortune in Asulon. He is a brown-haired man wearing a green tunic. I chop one of the bandits' heads off with my axe and then tell the other bandit to run away or the same will happen to him. I help the elf back to a bed where he can rest.
