  1. Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: Broiden. Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No. How old are you?: 16. Time-Zone/Country of Residence: New Zealand. GMT +13 Hours. GMT +12 Hours when not in Daylight Saving. Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I do believe that I happen to have a perfect and sensible grip on this fine but rather grammatically contradictory language ('i' before 'e' except after 'e', except when 'ay' as in 'neighbour'). Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a rather academically committed wannabe medical student who is currently looking for other forms of RP escapism other than pen and paper RPG's, with which I spend about 3 hours per week playing. Unfortunately the group I am doomed to play with is maniacally obsessed with grinding (Who grinds in a P 'n P game?) and combat, of which they insist upon occurring 90% of the time over story. *Sigh* How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I cannot give a firm answer for that question for I have academic commitments that ALWAYS come before ANYTHING. On average, probably about 5 hours per week, however, that will decrease dramatically when Mass Effect 3 is released. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: Roleplaying is NOT ABOUT COMBAT AT ALL. It is about being someone different, making choices as them, thinking what they think, doing what they would do and saying what they would. It is about their story, and the path they take across the world, how others feel about them and what mark they leave upon the world. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming is whereby actions executed outside the game world are used to give you an unfair advantage over other players such as: cheating and pre-planning actions in real life. Metagaming is most unfair to me when groups of players get together IRL to plan and execute overly flawless plans and gameplay styles which give them unfair advantages over other players, before they start using hacks such as xRay. Powergaming is whereby players interact and a party/parties initiates an action but presumes their action is successful without giving the other character the chance to respond or agree to the roleplay action taken against them. In the end, the true roleplayer is bullied by the powergamer. An example of this is: Player 1: *Persuasive* I do believe that I deserve this item for what I have done for this village. *Other player agrees and hands player item* Player 2: Wait what? I never got any say in the matter? What the feth? Player 1: *Draws knife, and proceeds to stab Player 1 repeatedly in the face. Killing him with the second blow.* Player 2: What happened? Player 1: Shut up. You're dead now; dead people don't talk. Player 2: Wha... Player 1: You are dead. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect there to be a stable Roleplaying community, with numerous local stories and heroes. I have been led to believe by your forum that there is also a truly deep and immersive lore. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on several creative servers and one Faction PvP server where it just descended into utter chaos with people hacking and spawn killing. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes and yes. How did you hear about us?: This server was reccomended to me by by Luczifer27. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? How is it that you ask me to vote for you when I have not even had the chance to play and see what Lord of the Craft is like? I cannot give a truthful and honest opinion. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Broiden. In-Character: Character Name: Gromnik the Apt. What is your Race?: Cavern Dwarf. Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Gromnik is young, only just old enough to be able to leave the city of Kal'Urguan on his own and without an escort. Gromrik is an enthusiastic, but slightly gullible dwarf, believing in his quest to build his father's legacy before he realises the consequences and dangers of doing so. He is slightly taller than the average dwarf by about 5 of 6 centimetres with odd white hair despite being so young. His beard is short to symbolise his age and lack of status. He is a quick learner, passionate builder and engineer. He has a weakness for fine ale, and thus leads him to do rather odd things such as sleep standing in a hole or building wooden furnaces. He lacks the experience to truly be a warrior, but he has learnt how to use an axe in a self-defensive posture: before breaking the wooden head. The young dwarf takes one painful look back at his home of Kal'Urguan as he leaves the outer walls of the city, looking back at the gate. He has about his person nothing more than the clothes on his back and the ambition to venture out into human lands, so that he may learn his craft better and teach the arrogant humans how to properly erect a watchtower. His father was an Engineer, long since lost to the memory of the Engineer's Guild, but Gromrik remembers: his father was a master of manipulating the mysterious redstone and sulphur, much to the annoyance of many other guild members, who labelled Gromrik's father a genius, but a mad one at that. Gromrik's father had learnt the secret to defending cities from attackers with nothing more than know-how. Gromrik's father called his invention 'The Brute'. It was never built as Gromrik's father was evicted from the guild for reasons unknown to Gromrik. Gromrik's father spent the last of his days in a drunken stupor, but not before he fathered Gromrik. After his father's death, Gromrik was determined to gain acceptance as an apprentice in the Engineer's guild to restore his family's honour and show people that his father truly was a genius... So, one day at home alone after his mother died of the fever, Gomrik sat in front of his father's old desk. On it, old schematics for crazy flying machines, tunnel diggers and so on. Soon, something unique caught his eye, a schematic for something truly outlandish, even more so than his father's inventions already were, a device called 'The Brute' which propelled warriors at attackers from city walls. Something truly outlandish and dangerous in the wrong hands, for it would be truly painful should it not be treated with precision. Gromrik realised in that moment for his family to regain their honour, he must preserve his father's legacy and gain acceptance as an apprentice in the engineer's guild to preserve the family's craft. So Gromrik the Apt set out upon his journey, into human lands to learn his craft, and putting those arrogant bastards in their place in the process. Armed with nothing more than what he learnt from his father's drunken ramblings, designs, notes and the very schematic for his father's legacy, 'The Brute', he set off for who knows where, trying to build what he thinks is his father's invention... unaware of how much trouble the simple building of the device will cause, and how much he risks jeopardising his quest by building it, for only the creator surely deserves the power this device can give to a man... Perhaps a tavern... no, no mind back on the task; Gromrik sets off in search of some contracting work in human lands, perhaps a small settlement or farm, performing some light engineering tasks there, enough to keep him going and learning as he grows his reputation. Surely, once he has gained some renown in human lands as a great Engineer, the Guild should accept him into their ranks as an apprentice... Your characters ambitions: Gromrik the Apt wishes to gain acceptance into the Engineer's guild of Kal'Urguan and build the warrior delivery system designed by his father to preserve his legacy. Gromrik also wishes to become a famous artisan and engineer in human lands, teaching them humility and perhaps earning a few coin to spend on some fine ale. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Gromrik rushes forward headlong without realising that there is a branch at head height in his path, he is knocked unconscious and robbed of all his weapons and coin. Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? * Enthusiastically* Yes human, I am seeking to restock my supply of ale and perhaps buy myself that lovely looking axe you have over there... yes...that one...the dwarven made one. How much for that? Perhaps I can render some of my services to aid in reinforcing your shopfront to avoid theft so that I may possibly pay for that beautiful axe... A screenshot of your skin: Other Information: I happen to make quite a nice minecart underground system...

Powergaming is 'grinding' towards a specific goal in game that your character would normally never commit so much time to attaining. Powergaming is often used outside of character whilst in game, therefore compromising the role playing integrity of the game.
