Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: My Minecraft account is Harouram. How old are you?: I’ll be fourteen in late May. At the moment, I am thirteen years and about eleven months old. Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I live in the EST Time Zone of the United States. Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Quite a good grip I should think, having grown up in the US. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Do you like football, boxing, wrestling and Red Bull? Sorry, you came to the wrong guy. I’m more of a Skyrim and ME3 kind of person. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I think I could be on for about two, maybe three hours a weekday. Longer on weekends and ]vacations from school. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying to me is a sort of...release. I’ve been creating worlds and stories since I was very little. Roleplaying allows me to use some of these characters, develop them so their incompleteness stops driving me mad. Its not a good day for me unless my character has grown and is clearer to the other RPer(s) as who they are. Sadly, I only started text-based roleplay in the fall last year. I’d have liked to have discovered it sooner. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: As I said before, I discovered text-based roleplay in the fall of 2011. From there, I’ve been doing it almost everyday. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is something that I only recently memorized the meaning/definition of (which is odd, since its so important to RP). Meta-Gaming is when an RPer uses knowledge from an outside source to aid them in their RPs. For instance, a Meta-Gamer might use Skype or Ventrillo to talk with other people. This might give them the advantage over an “enemy” if they were following one. Rather than going through the process of searching, they would all just swarm to the person they were chasing, which makes no sense in an Rp. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-Gaming is another thing I have only just stored away in my memory vaults. Power-Gaming is sometimes interchangeable with God-Modding (being an invincible character without having that invincibility backed up), but not always. In short, Power-Gaming is not giving the other RPer(s) to react to your character’s actions. The classic example is: The burglar dives through the window, running away. The guard sprints, and tackles the burglar to the ground. The burglar draws a knife, kills the guard, and escapes. This example is the Burglar’s power-gaming. He doesn’t allow the guard to keep trying to catch him by killing him. He’s also decided that his character escapes. A good RPer would at least allow the chance for his character to be caught. What do you expect this server will be like?: I have high hopes for LoTC. I like having story behind h=things, and being with like-minded people is sure to be fantastic. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I haven’t really played on any servers. I’ve visited the Reddit Creative Server just to see what it was like. But I didn’t do much different than my normal creative worlds: build in solitude. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I’ve read them, re-red them, and both times I’ve agreed to following them. As I do now. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: As I’ve said, yes. I’ll follow them all without question. How did you hear about us?: As I recall, I saw a trailer for the server being liked by one of my subscriptions. I looked over a few videos, went to your website, and I was hooked. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I’ve made two others: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/45482-application-to-join-lord-of-the-craft/page__p__332518#entry332518 and http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/45291-application-to-join-lord-of-the-craft/page__p__330594#entry330594 In-Character: ((I’ll answer most of these in RP format, to make it easier on myself.)) Character Name: *the armored man bows slightly* “My name no longer has any meaning to me. I go by Crusader.” What Race are you?: “I am a proud human. After all, no elf would wear armor this heavy, and no dwarf would be this tall.” What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): *Crusader shrugs* “As far as I know, I am just a normal human. Nothing special.” Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): *Crusaders eyes glaze over behind his helm* “My life story? I’m not one for telling tales, but I suppose you’ll want to know. Listen well then, I don’t give this tale to everyone. “A few years back, when I still had a name, I lived with my parents in a small village near Alras. It was a peaceful existence mainly. There were no thieves, no wars, no marauding bandits. Everything was fine. Well, minus the monsters of the night of course. “As a young lad, I was always protective of my friends. *chuckles* I remember once punching off a zombie that was trying to eat Gladi. But I was always getting hurt from helping my friends. About three times a week, I’d have to be bandaged up by my parents, Shaegin and Lillian Yolon. They’d always tell me that I couldn’t just go beating on skeletons with my fists. I’d invariably be kept inside for the next two days. “But being inside a house wasn’t too bad. My parents loved to read, and so had a large room of bookshelves. I always went there when I was kept in, and I read. My favorites were Elvish sonnets. I loved them so much, I began dreaming of traveling to Malinor. So, when I was seventeen, I started packing. The morning I set out, my father gave me a set of chain mail armor and an iron sword to protect me. My mother gave me a traveling cloak with a golden sun woven into the back. I said my goodbyes, and started off. “During the journey, I spent most of my time defending myself from monsters and the occasional bandit. It took me several fortnights to reach Malinor, on account of taking the wrong road on accident. However, it was worth it by far. I spent a year with the elves, learning from them, and sharing tales of my childhood. Then, I decided to return home to show my family what I had learned. After taking the right road this time, I returned to my village. “The village was not as I remembered it, however. It may have been that the inn was leveled, and several buildings were broken. I assumed that there had been a raid by some group of bandits, or maybe a troop of war-lusting orcs. I searched in vain for signs of my parents and friends. All I found was a burnt note from my mother. All I could make out was that they had escaped. Where to, I do not know. Now I travel the kingdoms, searching for my parents.” What is your Character's ambitions?: *Crusader fingers the hilt of his sword* “I wish to find my family. After that, I’d like to settle down somewhere in Malinor.” What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): *Crusader chuckles, and draws his iron sword* “The blade of course. I wouldn’t be alive without it.” What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?: *Crusader twirls the blade he had drawn already* “I take great pride in my defensive combat style. It is smarter to protect than to charge in blindly.” A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): ((In-game screenshots are attached to the post.)) Other Information about your Character: *Crusader fingers his face-covering helm* “I never take this off. I’d rather my face not be seen. Why? Ask the trio of creepers I fought.” Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?: *Crusader looks at the two warriors. He curses softly, and puts a hand on his blade. Why does this always happen when I’m around? he thinks. Crusader skirts the scene until he’s a safe distance. Then he bends down, picks up a rock, and hurls it at one of the warriors, hopefully hitting him(her?) in the head. Now that he has their attention, Crusader steps forward, blade at the ready* “Harassing a halfling? That’s quite low, even for bandit slime like yourselves.” *With the anger-inducing insult complete, Crusader readies to fight* Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?: *Crusader eyes the man, and he nods in greeting* “Nothing in particular. Although, I have need for traveling supplies, if you have them.” *Crusader begins examining the wares, checking to see if there’s something he’ll need, such as a few apples or a loaf of bread. When he finds an item he needs(eg. a spare blade), he blinks. Well well well, something worth it. he thinks, and looks up at the merchant* “I’m interested in buying this. How much?” *Once told the initial price, Crusader begins haggling to see if there’s a more reasonable price they can agree on* Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: *Crusader opens the chest carefully, after having made sure there are no traps. All this in an abandoned house? he thinks, I find that unlikely. He looks around, and sighs* “Oh well, if they aren’t being used…” *Crusader gathers the items into his pack, keeping the sword in a place where he can reach it if need be. He then takes time to rest a bit, make sure he’s well fed, then Crusader sets out again* Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?: *Crusader gasps for breath, the pain of hunger roiling in his gut. He looks at the folk who had greeted him. Crusader makes an effort to stand straight and look as though he hasn’t suffered from being lost. Here’s hoping they’ll give me food. he thinks* “Good people...I have traveled many leagues...but I have lost my way. If you can supply me with food, and give me directions to the nearest village, I’d be grateful.” You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: *Crusader listens to the leader speak. Help with bandits? Are the guards that inefficient? he thinks, and shakes his head. Sighing, he walks up to the leader* “You’re the entire town guard. How can a simple group of bandits be so much trouble that you need assistance? If I were you, I’d focus on training your men so that they are capable of fighting the bandits. For God’s sake man, you’re the Guards! It’s your JOB to do this kind of thing.” *Rant over, Crusader walks off, grumbling under his breath*

Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: Harouram How old are you?: At the moment I’m writing this, I am thirteen and ten months old. Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I live in the United States of America, in GMT -5, the Eastern Time Zone. Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Quite obviously, as I’m typing in it now. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am an intelligent and mature person. I tend to enjoy RP style interactions quite a bit. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: About three hours weekly, and four or five on weekends. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I know quite a bit about roleplaying, a friend and I do it daily through Skype. Through this, I’ve learned quite a bit about carrying a character, and have grown beyond that into immersing myself in the character. It gets to such a point that I generally end up THINKING like my character for a good while afterwards. Roleplaying has become a large part of me, and it is my favorite activity by far. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: As previously stated, I role-play almost daily. I also write, so that helps my character as well. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: I first heard of Meta-Gaming through a you tube video of someone playing on a Lord of the Craft server. Not really knowing what it means, I looked it up for a better understanding. From both a Wikipedia article, and the actions of the role-player on Youtube, I gained a rather good understanding. Meta-gaming is the use of out-of-game resources, knowledge, or another person to change the way your game playing goes. For instance, the video I saw was a raid on an Undead fortress by a few of the Sages. They were on(if I remember) a Skype chat, and were communicating in an OOC manner there. Also, I have personal experience. While I play Skyrim, I tend to get stuck in some places. If I get too stuck, I look up the dungeon or whatever online. This gives me the knowledge to get through the game. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: I’m not too familiar with the term, as my previous application would show. So, I looked around a bit more, and found a method of power-gaming that seems to apply to Lord of the Craft. According to what I found, power-gaming in a text-based RP is doing something without giving the other person a chance to counter or react. One example I found was in a guide to role-playing well. Rather than putting: My sword cuts your head off, you die, it would be better to put I swing my blade at your neck. This way, the other person you’re RPing with has a chance to deflect the attack. The first statement is utterly absurd for RP purposes. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it will be an enjoyable and rather interesting experience. I’m not sure I will get along with all the role-players, but that’s part of the experience. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I haven’t played multiplayer often, so this would be the first server I really go on for more than a quick look. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Of course I have. I wouldn’t be doing this without having read the rules before hand. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I do promise to abide by the rules you have given me and the other players. How did you hear about us?: I first heard of your server through a you tube video advertising your updates and what not. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: I actually haven’t yet. Give me a few minutes and I will have. In-Character: Character Name: My name is Mealaun Moleffy, Lord of the Stormclouds What Race are you?: I am human. What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): I am a proud Southeron. Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Before I describe my history, I must describe myself. At the age of twenty one, I have a deep brown, almost black, crew cut, and golden eyes. I measure about six feet and three inches tall, and have less muscle than I would like. I tend to wear white shirts with collars, and a black long coat. I also wear brown slacks and brown leather boots. At the time of the Undead War, I was training to join the battle. I had grown up in a small village in the Kingdom of Oren, and a certain amount of patriotic spirit had come along with my education. I and my fiance, Galii Surfaer, were both well educated in literature, alchemy and history. When I heard of the Undead threat, I immediately decided to use my intelligence to assist the armies of King Perea. However, before I had reached the level of proficiency with the blade that I would have liked, our village was attacked by a small group of Undead. I joined the defense with the guards, and tried to keep the monsters the Undead had summoned at bay. Several guards fell to the beasts, and I myself was battered and weary. Three waves of monsters came, and three times they were slaughtered, at the cost of many good lives. After the third wave, I saw the Undead vanish. I gave a sigh of relief, wiped my blade, and headed back into the village to ensure that everyone was safe. What I found was one of the Undead exiting a house. Its glowing eyes seemed full of madness and insane joy. One of its arms was clutching a woman’s neck-Galii’s neck. I felt anger boil within me. How dare the filthy Daemon spawn lay his hands on my fiance. I dove at him, intending to destroy the foul being. The Undead merely laughed, and struck me with a blast of flame. I was sent flying into a wall, stunned and scorched. Through the red haze that had clouded my vision I heard the Undead laugh. He spoke, with a voice that sent chills through my spine, “So, brave warrior, you wish to save this woman? It’s a shame, for she won’t be here for you to save.” At this, my strength returned. I staggered to my feet, and launched myself at the Undead. I was too late. Using his dark arts the Undead warped Galii to some other realm. He then teleported himself away, right as my blade stabbed at his chest. I fell to my knees, feeling as though my life had shattered. It was too much for me, and I blacked out. What is your Character's ambitions?: Now that I am here in Asulon, all I want is to find Galii. I’ll do anything along the way if I may reunite with her. What is your character’s favorite tool?: (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): I prefer the blade, as I have trained with it before. I find it a very elegant tool. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?: I am a planner, and a trained rapier fighter. I don’t pretend to be excellent at either, but I have a fair amount of skill. I’ve never been an archer, and I am not much of a builder either. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): ((Not a very good skin, is it? If you can recommend me a better one, or site to make one, I’d appreciate it.)) Other Information about your Character: ((This only applies if it is possible to add it onto Mealaun within the server. If not, he’ll make do without.))I have a range of weather based magic. I can control the weather, and use adaptations of it to fight if I must. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?: The first thought that would go through Mealaun’s head would be something along the lines of: “Oh dear. Another fight.” He’d then rest his hand on the hilt of his blade, and approach the warriors. He’d most likely come from behind them, and tap their shoulders. When they turn, he’d say something like: “Excuse me gentlemen, but I think you should leave that Halfling alone.” Odds are, being bandits, the two men would decide to fight Mealaun. And he would engage them as best he could. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?: Here, Mealaun would be thinking: “If this man is so well dressed, why is he only running a stall?” But to the man, he’d say: “I’d like to browse your wares for now. If something catches my eye, perhaps we could strike a bargain.” He’d then start looking at the items for sale. If one made him think: “This might be useful later.” or “I may need that.”, then Mealaun would start bargaining with the merchant until they agreed on a fair price. If there was nothing there to interest him, Mealaun would give a mental shrug, and say to the merchant: “I’m sorry, but there is nothing here I need at the moment. My apologies for taking time from your day.” He’d then give a slight bow, and continue on his way. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: The first thought that would pass through Mealaun’s mind would be: “Interesting. Who lived here, I wonder?” or something close. He’d then decide whether or not he needed the items. If he didn’t, as would be most likely, he’d leave the hut, and continue to where he was going. However, if he needed the items, he’d shrug, think: “If I pay for these, they can get more elsewhere”, leave enough Minas to equate the price of the items, then he’d take the items with him on his journey. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?: Rather than thank God for letting him find the members of the camp, he’d think: “I hope these beings aren’t too hostile.” He’d then, trying to speak coherently, say: “Good folk….if you have…any form of sustenance...that I may have...it would be good of you...to give it to me now…” At the end of this, he’d probably be cursing his habit of speaking in a slightly regal manner. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: “Hmm….should I?” would be running through Mealaun’s mind. He’d then check to see if he was well equipped for a battle. If he was, he’d approach the party’s leader, and say: “Sir, I heard that you require assistance in dealing with a bandit threat. If you have use for me, I’d like to lend my assistance.” If he were accepted, Mealaun would thank the leader, and prepare for the fight ahead. Were he turned down, mealaun would think: “Let us hope that they succeed.” He’d then bow slightly to the party leader, say: “May your company succeed in the mission.”, then he’d continue to where he was going in the first place.

This gives me the knowledge to get through the game. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: I’ve never come across this term before. Give me a second……Ah-ha, I found the Wikipedia article. From what I can understand, power gaming is forcefully gaining something or achieving a goal without stopping to consider anything other than you and your goal. In the RP circles I have previously encountered, this was refered to as God-Modding. It was where your character was invincible or unable to be affected by an enemy’s actions. I’ve always regarded this as unfair to the other roleplayers. I’ve come across a few “God-modders” in my roleplays, and I’ve ended up despising their styles. I expect a power-gamer would be just as despisable. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it will be an enjoyable and rather interesting experience. I’m not sure I will get along with all the roleplayers, but that’s part of the experience. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I haven’t played multiplayer often, so this would be the first server I really go on for more than a quick look. In-Character: Character Name: My name is Mealaun Moleffy, Lord of the Stormclouds What Race are you?: I am human. What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): I am a worgan, a kind of voluntary werewolf. (if that’s a proper option, or there’s some way I can do it, great.) Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): I was born in the year 5750 of the Third Age in a dimension known as Sperae Magna. There, I was raised by my father and mother, Lord and Lady Moleffy. We lived in a manor house outside the village of Braeni. My parents were influential with the King, so I was often at balls or other social gatherings. I never really gained many friends or companions. I was always…separate. The only friend I ever had was Galii Surfaer. We were the best of friends. Friendly enough in fact, that my parents decided to have her betrothed to me. I didn’t object, and neither did she. Perhaps we both had hoped for it in our hearts… Eleven years from my eight birthday, when Galii and I were betrothed, she and I were planning our wedding with care. I was also training with the rapier, in order to be able to protect my fiance, and fight for the kingdom. But, my life wouldn’t last in such a way. That day, our village was attacked by an army of invading Armenites. The town was taken by the time Galii and I got outside. We both took up arms, and tried to hold the gates. We were successful, in part. The soldiers could only come at us three at a time, so we had an easy time of it. Then, a mage appeared. He stunned be with a bolt of red lightning, and then turned to Galii. He summoned a demon, who promptly snatched up my fiance. Getting to my feet as best I could, I attempted to save her. Instead, the mage teleported me away through a rift in time and space, and the last thing I heard before blacking out was a scream of pain…. Now I find myself here on Aegis, alive, and unable to age. I shall forever retain my current form: short brown hair, golden eyes, a height of six feet and three inches, and a dark mustache. I find myself drawn to wearing a black long coat, white silk shirt, brown pants and black leather boots. I also wear a bronze crown on my brow, to remind me of my former status. I also find myself able to transform into a black humanoid wolf. I never do, not unless I must. What is your Character's ambitions?: I only wish to survive in this new world, and gain allies. Once I have a secure position within Aegis, I seek a way to bring my darling Galii into the same world. For here I know we can find happiness. If you can recommend me a better one, or site to make one, I’d appreciate it.)) Other Information about your Character: I have a range of weather based magic. I can control the weather, and use adaptations of it to fight if I must. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?: Mealaun would most likely watch for long enough to know the situation, then, if the Halfling had no chance of getting away safely with his gold, Mealaun would draw his blade, and politely ask the two men to stop. If they refused, or attacked him, he’d quickly and efficiently defeat them and return the Halfling’s money. If the Halfling could handle the situation however, Mealaun would continue on his way. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?: Mealaun would most likely examine the wares after saying, “If you have an item I wish to purchase, perhaps we can strike a bargain.” If something in the stall caught his eye, Mealaun would negotiate a fair price for it. If there was nothing of interest, he’d look at the merchant, say something along the lines of: “I apologize for taking up a portion of your time sir.”, give a polite bow, then walk away. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Most likely, Mealaun would let it be. He’s never been a thief, and he wouldn’t start just because something LOOKED abandoned. However, he’d return to the site after a day or two. If he found no one there again, he’d take the items. If there was someone there, he’d continue walking. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?: Mealaun would respond with something along the lines of: “Hail…if you are friends to my kith and kin, then…I would ask sustenance and…directions to the nearest town…” You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Mealaun would ensure that he was well equipped, then ask the leader of the party if he might join the group. Were he accepted, he’d do his best to eliminate the bandit threat. Were he turned down, Mealaun would shrug, and go about his business.
