  1. Did you not understand my argument at all?

I understand most people who have PhDs are atheists. But I am saying that it's the way we interpret the facts and results scientists present us with is what determines or beliefs. I can't give percentages of people who think this way.

And also, if you'll notice, there are lower percentages of people who believe in God in the lower IQ areas... Most with average intelligence believe in God. Calling us "ignorant fools" and then showing us a graph where most people with near mental-retardation are atheists doesn't help.

  2. Japanese suicide bombers did not do it for God, but you're right, the jihadists are doing it for Allah. Or rather, their interpretation of Allah. As I said, if there is a God that is worth worshipping - which I do personally believe, to clarify things - then they are doing it wrong.

Well, let's look at Kim Jong and his persecution of Christians and other religious people in North Korea. Or the Communist regime in China doing the same years ago. Though it's not what is commonly excepted as terrorism, it is certainly the spreading of terror. So the jihadists and atheist dictatorships are quite similar.

A small link between education and religion. It is mainly interpretation of what you find in the world rather than facts. Instead of viewing the wonders of cellular growth or, as shown earlier, a giraffe's circulation system as creations of God. Now, I also believe in the theory of adaptation, and, perhaps, the evolution of microorganisms. But I also believe in the direct intervention of a creator. Chance alone may not be enough to create such an intricate and complicated world. So although most hillbillies are Born Agains, many educated people are also Christians. We use facts to support our ideas of God.

Your offense is duly noted, though it was unnecessary and doesn't do anything to prove your theory of creation without God. Still love you, bro, but I am not an ignorant fool.

  3. I believe, or at least assumed, that he was talking about a plugin similar to MCMMO, which very much promotes the use of MC Mechanics and takes away from RP. If he was not talking about this, however, I was mistaken and apoligize.

I am still not sure how the MC Mechanics used in Asulon took away from roleplaying. I do agree, it could be a bit Grundy, but as Casanir said, we don't become masters of a skill by sentences, we do it through effort. I think some of the better role players could roleplay without skills, but maybe it's better that players have to invest in-game time to train skills.

  4. Just because the theory of evolution occurred doesn't disprove the existence of God.

And for those of you saying both... There are four options...

I mean, God could have created deities, who created a superior alien race that came to Earth and manipulated organisms to evolve into intelligent life forms. I don't know. But then the answer would be "All four," not both.

Really, none of us will ever know what happened, unless we get a time machine. Scientists fiddling around with atomic colliders are able to trace the burst of energy within 0.000000001 milliseconds of the actual occurrence, but we can't figure out what the actual creation was.

And for those of you refuting the Bible as a historical source... It wasn't just a religious text, it was also a historical record. I'm not just talking about the Book of Genesis - which is compatible with a God-started-evolution-and-the-Big-Bang theory, since it has the order of species arrival right - but also the Book of Kings, the Book of Isaiah, and the Gospels. What makes those sources different from the historical documents of the Egyptians, which are affirmed by historians?

Also, in response to Oskar... Crime rates have nothing to do with religion. Most shootings in the US are due to gang-related activity, not fanatics. True, in the Middle East, jihadists seem to be messing everything up, but that doesn't have to do with the existence of God. They're just doing it wrong.

Not to say Islam is bad! It's the individuals, not the religion, that are bad.

Just as Richard Dawkins says about the connection between atheism and dictators is coincidental, so is that with terrorists and jihadist-Islam, or religion in general. And to say a religion in general is bad still doesn't disprove God or promote evolution as the cause of our creation.

    Okay, I'm done.

  5. A few things I do wonder about God though, is how come in the Old Testament, he burned a bush to tell a murderer that he must save their people and lets him split a river or something in two to cross, turned some river into blood, brought plagues on people and stuff and now he does nothing like that? And if the Egyptians were killing all the Hebrew baby boys and Moses only survived because he got put on a river and had tons of good luck, how come his brother survived too?

EDIT: And why did God tell Abraham to kill his son and then tell him not to at the last second? I heard it was like a test, to see if he'd do whatever God said, but how come God couldn't just tell? He's God...

God needed to have the plagues come and go river-splitting and such because he needed to show the Egyptians how powerful he was and that they should let his people go. And he is waiting until the Rapture to continue these large miracles. And Moses' brother survived because only boys under around two years old were killed, and Moses' brother was older than that. Or he was born after the slaying.

Yes, Abraham's test of faith was sacrificing his son. God, I think, know what will happen after we decide to do something, but the choice to do something is up to us. Abraham could've chosen not to almost sacrifice his son, but then God wouldn't have blessed his lineage. When he chose to go up the mountain and sacrifice his son, God understood that Abraham was a loyal servant and stopped him.

  6. I understand we've been waiting for a while, but the people building Anthos are making sure this will be the best map possible for roleplaying. Waiting after a few months is hard, I know, but we shouldn't be disappointed its taking so long. We should be happy they are building us a world, and probably an epic one at that. Patience is a virtue.

  7. Ventusyr drops the notice onto the dirty ground with a sigh.

"Two wrongs don't make a right. This attack will end in failure, with the deaths of many innocent men occurring in the process."

And with that morbid thought, he walks away into the crowds around him.

  8. Ventusyr reads the flier over with a frown and knitted brows, then finally walks away from the message board where he had seen it, looking around the area with interest.

"So that is why this nation fights... War seems to be ever-present throughout the land. I wonder how the other participants justify their actions in war."

As he stands there contemplating this, a man dies of natural causes four-hundred miles away at the ripe old age of ninety-three. This has no relation to Ventusyr, but the man's family will insist twelve years later that it was his fault, and he will spend a few months after that being chased around by angry descendants with torches and pitchforks.

  9. After looking over the flier for several minutes, Ventusyr walks over to the local courier service and writes his reply:

I am here to serve the House of Tarus. I will begin travelling there immediately.

    - Ventusyr

With a sigh, he drops the letter into the inbox of the messenger service, picks up his bag, and begins walking in the general direction of the Dark Lands of Western Renatus.

  10. Out-Of-Character

    Minecraft Account Name:

    Ventusyr

    How old are you?:

    14 going on 15

    Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

United States of America, Pacific Coast Time

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes, yes I do. I consider myself to be a grammar Nazi and have the tendency to correct people on their grammar occasionally.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I consider myself to be a pacifist. I try to be kind to people I meet both on and off the Internet, and the only time I’ll be rude to another human being (or anything else) is if they’re being rude to a friend of mine.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

I could only be on during weekends for a few hours, unfortunately.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

Role-playing is living a life, or role, that is not your own. It is a classic form of story-telling that has been passed down through the ages, from the Ancient Greeks to Minecraft.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

I have role-played via text in several role-play forums in different websites before. This will be my first role-play using Minecraft, though.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Meta-gaming is using a characters’ “puppeteer’s” real name or username in the middle of a story. If you refer or address a character you have never met via chat or otherwise, that too is meta-gaming. If I addressed a friend of mine by his real name, or if I used stuff I know OOC in-character, then that would be meta-gaming.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

Power-gaming is role-playing with little or no consideration of another character’s actions or outside influence, making declarations and performing actions that overlook the strengths of other factors (characters, objects, etc.) and skipping whatever another character might do. For example, if I was fighting someone in role-play, saying “Ventusyr stabs guard with sword and kills him instantly” would be power-gaming.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I think that the world Asulon is going to be amazing. I’ve seen some of the screenshots and looked over the map, and the area is just so big. It’s a place I don’t think someone could get bored by. I also think that, since it’s a white-listed server, the community and the role-playing will be in-depth and awesome.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I have not played on any Minecraft role-play servers yet, because none of them seemed very impressive. This one seems different.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

I have read, understood, and agreed to the rules.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

I promise to abide by the said rules.

How did you hear about us?:

I heard of Lord of the Craft from a friend of mine named Brennan (username brennan90), and he seemed pretty excited about, so I came to check it out.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

    In-Character:

    Character Name:

    Ventusyr. The name’s Ventusyr.

    What Race are you?:

Human, bred and born. Why do you ask?

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Fully human and mortal, thank you very much.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Well, that’s a bit of a long story. Sit down, make yourself comfortable… Now, I was born twenty years ago in a wagon out in the Wilds of Asulon, to a merchant father and warrior mother. My mother, unfortunately, died soon after childbirth of some strange sickness, so my father was left to bring me up. I got my black hair and brown eyes from her... Anyways, we finished the journey to a large city – can’t remember the name, though it was something with a lot of vowels and resided in the Kingdom of Renatus – and we settled down there. When I was ten, I began helping my father run the shop, which sold pretty much anything we could get our hands on, and things were looking pretty up for us.

Good times do not last. An attack by a city-state destroyed our shop and injuries from the wreckage killed my father. Half the city was in ruins, and, having no place to go, got sucked into the circles of urban mercenaries and underground deals... The particular gang I was in was the Runners, a group of what some would call “street urchins” who ran an underground courier service. Their leader, a young man by the name of Firen, taught me how to wield a sword and complete deliveries without being noticed by city guards and whatnot. Again, I felt I had found my home.

And again Fate would make a laughing stock of me. The city guard discovered our home base, the basement of a ruined church, and set up a raid against it. Most of my fellow couriers were either arrested or killed, with the exception of a few runners who escaped out a hidden entrance. Firen was one of the slain, defending the tunnel with an uncanny determination.

That happened about five years ago. I’ve just been wandering through cities, doing deliveries both above and underground, and other odd jobs since then. I haven’t had such a great life. Maybe now it’ll be better.

    What is your Character's ambitions?:

Well, to find someplace that I can call my home.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

A sword. My skill with the tool is my only reminder of Firen and the home I once had, albeit a criminal one.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

I know how to stay unnoticed in an urban environment, how to escape when in pursuit, and to defend myself for as long as I need to.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

    Other Information about your Character:

Well, I like bread. In every city I travel to, I always sample their bread. Bread can tell a lot about the economic situation of a civilization, as well as the attitude and personality of the average citizen of that city.

    Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Ventusyr approaches the warriors, face stretched in a forced smile and a hand on the hilt of his sword. He cautiously shouts at the warriors to leave the halfling alone, drawing his sword as he does so. The bandits turn to face him. At this point, Ventusyr shouts for the halfling to run, then carefully approaches the warriors in a defensive stance. The bandits rush at him, and, after a brief battle, Ventusyr runs after the halfling, the bandits right behind him.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Returning the smile of the shopkeeper, he nods and asks for some bread and water. As he waits for the merchant to get the supplies, he looks around the marketplace, assuring himself that there are multiple exits and planning a potential escape if he is attacked. Once the merchant returns, Ventusyr pays him the due amount, wishes him prosperity, and vanishes into the loud crowds of customers.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Ventusyr draws his sword, looking back and forth with a slightly suspicious expression. He kicks the door open with his foot, readying himself for a battle as the door falls down. When nothing emerges, he walks in, sword still drawn and ready. He looks outside the window at the empty wilderness around the hut, then opens the chest. After examining the sword and iron ingots for a few seconds, he returns them to the chest. The sword looks especially valuable, and whoever owned it would most likely search for the lost blade, possibly killing him in the process. As he leaves the hut, he glances one more time at the hut, then continues on his way through the wilderness.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Ventusyr bows, then asks if he may stay in their camp for a time. As he warms himself by the fire and nibbling on bread, he asks where the traders are from and where they are going. As they respond with their individual tales, he examines every one of the merchants as the speak, determining whether or not they are threats.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Ventusyr cautiously steps forward and raises his hand, indicating he will join the guards in their attack. He then urges the other listeners to draw their swords and remove this threat to their town, hoping that the people will join the small attack force. After the force is ready, he follows the commander down to the path to the bandit camp, along with the other warriors fighting alongside him.

Sit down, make yourself comfortable… Now, I was born twenty years ago in a wagon out in the wilderness of Asulon, to a merchant father and warrior mother. My mother, unfortunately, died soon after childbirth of some strange sickness, so my father was left to bring me up. We finished the journey to a large city – can’t remember the name, though it was something with a lot of vowels – and we settled down there. When I was ten, I began helping my father run the shop, which sold pretty much anything we could get our hands on, and things were looking pretty up for us.

Good times do not last. An attack by a rival city-state destroyed our shop and injuries from the wreckage killed my father.

The city discovered our home base, the basement of a ruined church, and set up a raid against it.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

Power-gaming is playing the win, basically. You exclude all other paths and head directly for the main goal. Many people feel that this type of gaming is not as entertaining and accomplishing as enjoying the game to it’s fullest by wandering and such, but it is a matter of opinion and perspective. I have power-gamed a few times, but that was when I could only have the game for three days and I had wanted to see what the ending was...

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

I first walk up to the men and attempt to dissuade them in their attack, though if that doesn’t work, I shout for the Halfling to run and I attempt to fight them for a bit before running after the Halfling, to ensure his protection.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

I’d take the iron bars and golden sword, then proceed on with my journey. Nobody else is going to make use of it, right? Might as well use a sword for what it’s made for.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

I wish them peace, then ask if I could stay with them for a bit and if they have any food and water they could give a poor soul like me.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

I step up and volunteer. I can’t continue travelling if some bandits will try to stop me almost immediately after leaving the city.
