Character Name: Roy Cazadore.
What Race are you?: Human
What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): None
Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):
Roy Cazadore is a tall man around his mid twenty’s. He has a solid build with muscle aplenty gained from years as toiling as an apprentice blacksmith and swords man by his father. He has light brown hair and an equally light colored beard to match. With startlingly sharp blue eyes he is quite the site to behold. He comes from a long line of blacksmiths dating back many generations long deceased.
Roy was born in the last years of Aegis. His father was a soldier and part time blacksmith in the city of Al'Khazar. When the undead invaded the city he bravely fought along with the numerous other soldiers. Yet despite his bravery he had to retreat his beloved city fell to the dead. While he was able to escape with his life, he suffered a glaring wound to his left leg which led to him retiring as a soldier and then focusing on the blacksmithing he was once taught by his own father. With great remorse over his losses, he left for the city of Galahar.
Once there, Roy’s father set up shop as a blacksmith and had good business. While he was a loyal supporter of the Oran kingdom, he grew discontent with the king at the time Enor Sheffield. He then heard of the Phoenix Revolutionaries and then willingly worked with them behind the scenes by helping supply them with handcrafted armor and swords. About half way between the Kingdom of Renatus being made and the destruction of Aegis, he married for the first time and then watched with joy as his wife gave birth to Roy.
Roy never got to know his mother well as she died while he was still young due to a disease she managed to become victim of. He always looked up to his father and was always ready to help him out if asked. From the moment Roy’s mother died, Roy’s father took it upon himself to teach Roy of various life lessons and morals that he himself believed and experienced. From the pride, honor, and of the duty that came with being a part of the Kingdom of Renatus to the ways of blacksmithing, using the sword for self-defense, and the vileness of the undead. He carried on these lessons day after day without relent, hammering this important knowledge into the ever growing young Roy much like the constant pounding of a hammer working the forge. Roy, wanting to please his father, quickly adapted to his father’s teachings throughout the years. But the one thing he never really believed in was his father’s stories of the undead. That was until the city of Galahar was attacked by the legions of the undead.
It was during this time Roy saw the true meaning behind his father’s cryptic stories as the city was enveloped by the cries of war. While his memories of those horrific days are vague, Roy still has one nightmarish memory implanted in his mind. One of seeing a undead throw magic at the city guards crackling with joy to turn his unearthly gaze upon the Roy. Roy was frozen if complete terror and watched as the undead chanted its dark magic aimed directly at Roy. If it were not for an arrow that hit the foul creature and disrupting his chanting, Roy would have died that fateful day. While in time the battle was won, Roy had to evacuate the city with his dad and the rest of the population due to fear over the fact that the taint that claimed Al'Khazar may also infest the city of Galahar. As time passed and the end of Aegis drew near, Roy and his father managed to get on a boat with many other citizens of the Renatus kingdom as they sailed away from the vary lands they once called home. At this time Roy could only fell the guilt, the shame of losing his homeland and the unending hate that started to grow inside Roy, an undying burning hatred for the undead.
After arriving in Asulon Roy and his father moved with other settlers of the Renatus kingdom to the location of an old Human city that was in ruins. This city would be named Arethor and Roy spent many years growing up there. His father once again set up a blacksmith shop and eventually started business again. It became quickly apparent however that he was having trouble doing the work himself so Roy began to train as a blacksmith in earnest to help out his ailing father. As time passed Roy grew older and became much better in the ways of blacksmithing. He also practiced the use of the swords in his spare time in case the undead should ever return and attack in earnest again.
Roy was also becoming a man quiet similar to his father yet also quite different. He was very loyal to his country and wanted to do his part in helping this grand country he grew up in. While he also had a fierce pride for his craft and his country, one which he was proud to bear, he was a mostly calm, collective, quiet man. One willing to listen to any ones story or opinions as long as they did not insult his blacksmithing skills, country, others he was loyal to, and especially anything that might be seen as pro undead. Yes when it came to the undead in particular, Roy would take a fierce opposition against the undead due to his horrific experiences in the past.
Now it has been over twenty years since he was born and after his father died a few years back, Roy decided to take over the shop for a while. Yet he was not satisfied with his skills nor working his dead fathers shop. He wanted to make his own legacy in his beloved Kingdom and perhaps the world. So one day he decided to pack up his things, sold his father’s former shop and with some coins in hand starts his own journey to fulfill his yet unknown destiny.

Open-Response-Questions
Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small Halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?
As Roy was leaving the Cloud Temple his eyes happened to find the two warriors in question harassing the Halfling. While Roy wanted no trouble and meant to avoid getting involved, he seemed entranced by morbid curiosity over why these men where causing such grief over this squealing Halfling half rolled into a ball to better protect himself from the menacing duos lashes.
Roy goes up to the two and begins his probing of the situation. “Hail good sirs” Roy half yelled over the Halflings cries. Startled one of the two turned around instinctively with a hand on the pummel of his sword. After quickly realizing that Roy was not a guard, the man explained what was going on. He declared that this miserable piece of bones, flesh, and lies stole some money from him along with some food while he was asleep. He and his fellow traveler claimed that they talked to the authorities about it but they would not lift a figure to help. Roy frowned at this part for he somehow doubted that these men actually did tell authorities and the two men realized their blunder and quickly continued their colorful adventure. When the two men finished their tale, they asked Roy “so now that ya know thee truth, ye will let us be right? Surely there be some sense of proper justice in ya”.
Roy was about to call the two out for their halfhearted lies when he took another glance at their swords, which were now griped tightly ready to dispose of any who was to much a fool to say no. “I ah have to say that I do believe yon story, and I wish ye the best of luck”. Roy then walked away before the two men could decide to dispose of Roy anyways. He heard cursing after twelve steps and spared a quick glance back to find the abused Halfling running away from his captors. With a small inward smile for the poor Halfling Roy left the town thank full to not have been involved in a fight.
Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?
Roy stops and stares at the merchant and after quickly examining him, he seemed to be a dwarf which bode well, went to his stall. “Hail merchant what wares do you have?” The merchant with a slight gleam in his eyes beckoned Roy closer and then said in a low voice “why only the finest of metals, ores, and trinkets!” Roy interested asked the man to see one of these trinkets. The merchant went into his chest and pulled out a shiny lapis necklace with iron chains. “now this here is one of my finer works if I do say so myself, and I do mind!” exclaimed the merchant. Roy gazed upon the amulet and said “tis quite a beauty it seems.. but I would like to feel it for myself before I buy it”.
The merchant hastily pulled the necklace far from Roy and kept in close to his chest glaring suspiciously at Roy. “I cannot just let any ol person touch my goods no that I cannot have! I bet yee are a thief a…” Roy decided then to turn around and stop showing interest in the trinket. “Where do ya think yer going eh?” cried the merchant. “Ah if I can’t feel it, to see its craftsmanship.. ah I just can’t buy something if I don’t feel the quality first hand you know”. The merchant seeing a potential sale go away, called back Roy and let him hold the necklace under his watchful gaze. Roy looked at the necklace and was pleasantly surprised at its quality. “How much are you selling it for?” exclaimed Roy cheerfully. “100 no 150 mina!” announced the shopkeeper loudly. Roy quickly decided that he should try and get the price down lower. The 2 exchanged offers back and forth until finally the Merchant dropped the price to a mere 45 minas. Roy bought the necklace then and happily went off back to his home to further examine and admire this interestingly designed trinket. Perhaps with some time he could mimic its design as well. The thought made Roy grin even more as he slammed the door to his house.
Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:
While wondering lost once again within a forest, Roy was wandering aimlessly with not a purpose on his mind but to find a place to seek shelter for the night. As he stomps through the forest he stops once again to scratch his highly irritable beard while looking to and from in the dense jungle. “I have to find a place soon” thought Roy” or else this damnable jungle will eat me alive. Curse those vines and buzzing flies”. Muttering several muted curses about the forest and its inhabitants, Roy finally manages to find a small hut. “This would have to do” sighed Roy loudly. He instantly regretted it and tried to spit out whatever blasted thing he swallowed. Stumbling in a tired mess, Roy enters the house which seems abandoned.
Shutting the small huts door, Roy was finally able to draw some breath that wouldn’t include bugs with the precious air. He looked around quickly and saw only two things of note. One a makeshift bed long unused and a chest that seemed locked. Curious about the later, Roy went up to the chest and tried opening it. Much to his surprise it opened with no resistance and he saw the treasure inside. He took hold of the iron bars, made sure they were real, confirmed it and put it back into the chest.
His eyes then adverted to the marvelous gold sword. It seemed of a dwarven style with well made decorative markings on the blade. Roy instantly knew he wanted to keep such a fine blade, for it was a very good study material for his never ending quest to become a better blacksmith. He decided then that he would camp the night here and in the morn if the huts owner did not return, he would help himself and keep the fine blade and the spare iron as well. After a decent sleep Roy woke up around the middle of the next day. Seeing no one had come in and taken the chests goods, Roy took them for himself. He made sure to carefully conceal the blade by using some of the sheets from the makeshift bed sheets as a cover for the sword. After having a quick meal from his bad that he happened to pack he went off on his own way to seek the exit of the natural forest maze.
Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?
Trudging along in the forsaken forest again, Roy was already feeling tired and parched. Suddenly seemingly out of the blue, Roy finds a small trading camp in the forest. Someone spotted him and greeted him in a friendly manner. “Thank the gods!” thought Roy as he quickly muttered a prayer of thanks for the gods for leading him here. Roy almost ran towards the camp so relived of finding a camp of seemingly cheerful folks.
When inside the camp Roy’s hope of a friendly atmosphere was crushed just as he saw three other people in the camp who eyed him wearily. “Pardon me for being so blunt” began Roy a bit more cautiously now.” But I must ask if you could spare some food, drink, and shelter for the night for a lone traveler such as myself”. Roy held his breath as he watched the camp members stare at him deciding on their verdict for this man who suddenly appeared. Then the man who greeted Roy shouted loudly and cheerfully “ Why but of course! Ye only needed to ask. But I must have you leave the following morn. You understand no?” Roy relived on being temporarily housed and sheltered by this group agreed without hesitation. For the rest of the day Roy helped himself to drinks, food, and the warmth of a campfire at night. The next day Roy stayed true to his words and left the encampment in search for the forest exit.
You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:
Walking quickly Roy finds the town guards and hurriedly asks a random guard “ are you the leader here?” The guard caught off guard turns instinctively to Roy and accidentally hits him quite hard. “Nay I am not” said the soldier unknowing that he hit Roy by mistake.” The leader is over there now go shoo sho!” Roy ignoring the fact that he got hit goes up to the leader and tells him that he wants to help out. The leader, who was just about to give the order to charge, repressed a sigh and allowed Roy to join.
There were 6 bandits in all but they had hostages two unremarkable looking peasants fear wide in their eyes. At the town guards commanders order the town guard charged after the bandits. Roy Rushed onwards with the guards and lunged straight at a surprised Bandit and crashed into him head on. They both tumbled on the ground punching, kicking, and clawing at each other with no regard for their own safety. After a brief struggle the bandit came over his desperate fighting and managed to shove Roy away from him. Now Roy had a slight feeling of doubt as he realized that this bandit was experienced. He could tell by his blade which was sharp and obviously used before. Roy only had enough time to draw out his own handcrafted sword out to parried a lunge by the bandit. After a few clashes of steel, the Bandit sensed his advantage and slashed Roy lightly across the chest. As Roy was trying to recover the bandit lunged for a finishing blow to end his opponents life. By pure instinct Roy managed to just dodge the attack and countered with a hard slash of his own that slayed the formidable foe.
Roy was breathing heavy breaths clutching his shallow that scarred his chest. After a minute or two Roy realized that the rest of the group had managed to slay 4 of the remaining 5 bandits and had the 5th bound in rope. The guard Captain came to Roy and with a slight nod handed him his reward money. Roy nodded back gratefully in return and started heading back to the village, happy to know that he helped protect the village he was currently working in. With a sense of pride he walked back to his shop and went back to his blacksmithing work, saving the problem of his chest wound for later.
