In-Character: Character Name: Sydric What Race are you?: Dwarven What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): I do not have a sub-race. Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): “Let it be known that the strength of a man is measured by the length of his beard, and the girth of his belt.” –Source Unknown. A young red-head of about 6, Sydric believed this message with much fervor. His father, a petty Dwarven sojourner of the recently founded Asulon, inculcated this message to him when he was but a child. Sydric never had a permanent home. He was always wandering with his father from city to city. He lost his father one night when he wanted to show Sydric just how important gluttony was. Still, his father’s stomach burst from the veil and mead, Sydric felt ebullient to follow the message he knew would get him through his endeavors. As he grew up, he still was never able to find a home. That was probably because he felt at his best while traveling, or maybe it was another way to carry out his father’s will. He didn’t have any enemies, as vehement as he could be. Humans, Elves, Orcs, they all sort of felt bad for the wandering Dwarf. He took this as an advantage and often got a free meal out of it. One thing that crossed his mind whenever a dangerous creature approached was; how can I kill it and eat it? His father, although sported an axe, never used it. He wasn’t a very violent Dwarf, and that’s why Sydric had a tough time thinking about how to attack an enemy.. Well, one night he was ravenous. He had no food left in the gunny. He knew it was time to stop finding a pity meal ticket and get busy hunting. He spotted a farm that had a fenced area will delicious looking swine lurking behind its short posts. Sydric couldn’t control himself when he saw this. The hunger kicked in and he leaped the fence, punching and kicking until every last pig was bludgeoned to death. He knew what he did was wrong, especially since he only took one pig back to a camp he made. Yet, he ate gloriously that night, and almost considered letting his stomach burst. But he knew his father’s spirit was out there somewhere, and he did not wish to end his life. From that hazy night to later in life, about 38 years old and 4’ 3” tall, Sydric became one of Asulon’s most infamous bruisers with one of the longest beards and a gargantuan gullet. “His fists are made of diamond themselves! Why would he need an axe?” This was often said when fellow Dwarves discussed about Sydric. By this time he had a home in Kal’Urguan, and it was said to be made with no tools, just his fists. He took pride in his title, and loved to flaunt his ability to kill any being with one punch. But with great power comes great consequence, as the prophets of Asulon would say. Unfortunately, Sydric would learn this, through an egregious outcome with the construction of a Dwarven friend’s house. The friend’s son admired Sydric to great extent, and Sydric appreciated the extolment he received from the boy. While was boxing the support beam of the basement in place with his mighty fists, only a task Sydric could complete, the boy came rushing down the stairs to watch and marvel at the power of him. Sydric did not see the boy before he came to scream his chant, “AHH, BE THE STRENGTH OF SYDRIC WORKING ON M’ HOUSE.” Sydric became so flustered and surprised that he missed the final punch which would’ve knocked the beam in perfect stance. Instead, the beam slammed quickly to the ground, leaving Sydric a split second to cease his fist before landing on the now seen boy’s face. I believe you know what happened. He could never forgive himself he that mistake. In a moment all of his fame shattered like a molten axe dropped to the ground. He was jailed for the accident and shunned from his friend’s life for as long as he lived. He thought then, that it was time to burst his gullet. Before he could request his last meal, a prison guard, who still admired Sydric, told him that he could renew his morale by visiting the Cloud Temple. Sydric thought that maybe it wasn’t time for him to give up. Maybe his fists could prove his valor in war against evil. He would serve his time, and then head off to the Cloud Temple, where he could be forgiven. What is your Character's ambitions?: Sydric wants to prove his valor through leading wars, growing his beard, and tightening his belt through veil and mead. He wishes to find companions who will not judge him based on his past. Finally, he would like to create a city in honor of the boy whose life was ended too early. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Tool? Or fighting implement? Tool: Shovel. Fighting implement: Fists. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Great construction using only his fists. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):http://www.minecraftskins.info/gimli.html Other Information about your Character: He enjoys sleeping in self-made holes in the ground. Plans to end his life by gluttony someday. Has been known to eat stone because of extreme hunger. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? With a swift two-fist knockout, the warriors fall to the ground with bloodied and broken steel helmets. The halfling reminded Sydric of the boy, and he has to protect the ones who could fall easily. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? “Well, I have everything I need.” The merchant then stares at Sydric and notices he has no weapon. “It looks to me that you’re lackin’ a weapon! Could I offer you a fine axe, sir? Or how about-“ Sydric cut him off with hearty laughter. “Hahaha, haven’t you heard of me? I’m Sydric, the Bruiser of Asulon! I do not need a weapon.” After knowing his identity the merchant became angry and spat in his face. He obviously knew what Sydric had done to the boy. “Ayuh, so yer going to be a bastard? I had no means of hurting that child, so you best keep yer spittle where it should be. Or, would you like to feel one of me fists in yer arse?” Sydric exclaimed with anger. “No no no! Please, take one of my leather belts!” The merchant said shakily. “I’d rather be off before I decide to dent yer face.” And with that, Sydric left. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: “Bah, the iron be useful for a pot to stir rich chicken soup about, but the golden sword is nothing but a pick for me teeth.” He took the metals and smelted the iron into a fine pot in the stove nearby the hut. After pounding a fresh chicken into a pulp, Sydric added some Basil, Ginger, and Raspberries from a local bush into the pot along with the crushed chicken. He drank the soup in a few gulps when it was done, ignoring the intense heat the campfire gave it. Then he took the golden sword and picked the bits of soup out of the crevasses of his teeth! Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? “Might I get some of that grub? The girth o’ me belly is shrinkin’!” Sydric slammed his fist on the ground with the strength he still had, but it was an expression of pride and not anger. “Hmm, you do look rightly hungry I say. Elgon! Let’s give this Dwarf some food, as it’s hard to see a Dwarf without some!” The trader seemed happy to come about Sydric. Likewise were his feelings toward the trader. “Ah, good men. I thank ye for the food. When I reach the Cloud Temple, I will bless yer names and spread yer good will to the other traders in Asulon.” Sydric left and continued to the Cloud Temple. He felt like there really was hope for him there. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Sydric tells them he doesn’t need their assistance. He says it’s best they don’t put themselves in harm’s way when little bandits who are aching for a knockout from ol’ Sydric are sitting right outside. He leaves, then comes back with a signed apology from the leader of the bandits, 2 diamonds, iron weapons, and 20 pork chops. Enough for a feast. Then he denies the proclaimed award, saying it was included when he pounded the smirk right off an arrogant bandit’s face.
