Ok getting skyped about my post let me say that " I do not support bad behavior " . Gaius imo is a good guy just seems burnt out and did a few things that snowballed out of control. I'm not Gaius but I'm only able to imagine what all transpired and led up to what in my thoughts snowballed into a brickwall. I've been on this planet 33 some odd years and I have had the pleasure of good and bad friends and the same with acquaintances. If it were up to me I'd revoke title and tell said person go take a break or take a forced ban of said amount of time from forums and in game.Make a post on forums explaining such actions to give the public transparency of what all happened and to let everyone know that what ever problems resulted in the antics of said in power will be handled and rectified. Upon return of said person they would be allowed to play as a base player and would be required to regain the trust of the community depending on their past actions. You can argue removal from forums for a said amount of time is not needed BUT in this type of community it is required imo. Forums and in game are so tied together that it wouldn't be a leave unless it's a full leave of BOTH. This is all based on case to case issues and severity of infractions.

Friend of many years gets drunk and wrecks your car nearly dying in the wreck. Do you .... A. Toss the friendship of many decades out the window and make them pay you back for the car and no longer associate with them. B. Scold them for being a dipsh!t and be thankful there alive and can continue being friends for many more years minus the bad times. Sure that's over the top but the point I'm trying to say here is you have here a long term member that one can say is human? And as humans we do some wild things from time to time. Who hasn't, really to think a random act such as this could just be the final straw to demonize a person and say you no longer have respect is just weak. If this is all it takes to lose respect for someone of many years on a server then you need a reality check. People getting angry about something that could be, I don't know commanded out. People getting angry about a single rollback, are you nuts have you forgotten prelaunch MC and all the hell rollbacks of 1.4?! Pretty sad state of affairs imo. We all have the liar friend, one upper, look at me!, smart, dumb, silly, immature the list of type of friends goes on. It would seem to be an admin or a mod here on lotc requires a golden slate of pure excellence and zero tolerance of flaws which is false. Look at the mirror people your not perfect nor am I, so quit expecting perfection from high ups as they will disappoint you from time to time. It's only when you're able to look past that and accept them for what they are and imo Gaius is still a good card in my book, just one strike on him for screwing up. And guess what it isn't three strikes and your out, I've got friends that do some stuff that would make this pale in comparison but there still my friends. Now if he had backend and banned everyone and deleted world files and such then yeah pull out the firewood we'll have a bonfire Gaius! But now damage seems to be done in the effect of posts and emotion replies from players to administration.

The 3.0 map was generated and painted in with lowest ore value possible. I think it was like ten coal three iron and 1 gold and a very rare off chance of diamond for every chunk.Basically not base generated ores like you are use to. There is going to be prebuilt mines that are regioned and controlled by nations to control ore mining. Certain areas of map were going to have region specific ores as well. So as for going out and striking it rich in wilds, you wont.

((So our old map is gone just like the many other towns of past. But I have learned from the past and had always copied our area. I have a saved world map of Auslon if anyone here wants a copy I'll break it down and zip it for you. Most of it is the Vale and Ironrock region real close to when the map was lost. One thing though to remember if you get a copy is the fire spread and plugins such as gate/lift don't work on this as it is just a copy of the world."FIRE SPREAD, key word as many people had fireplaces and you may find towns in flame lol. I posted elsewhere my disdain about the handling of all this. As right now I wont play on a pre auslon map, it's kind of hard to as my main toon "only" was living on another server at the time. I'm like that, fickle about being true to one toon and seeing them through. If I make a temp toon I feel like I'm cheating on my toon lol. Don't take this as me trashing on you it's far from it. I'm saying I'm going to wait for pre 3.0 stuff. I have tons of patients and can wait, don't rush it. BUT <--- let me say good job guys and don't let all these hate posts detour you and the hard work you do. Especially Alec, from what bread crumbs I've picked up is the server was deleted by a vengeful op'd person or a hacker I don't know. They deleted everything and Alec managed to compile old data from nothing. As for the gm's and admin pulling together and getting some form of entertainment for the public up with good standards and rules once again good work. You guys get a ++ for getting this together, Alec should get a well deserved break and thank you for pulling through when there was nothing. Everyone that thinks this is dumb stop it's just something to do till 3.0. Go enjoy it and have fun, pull that giant lore stick out :shock: and walk around some.

No no there not being ddos'd, there down because a temp map would be in poor character of this server's name. There currently making temp islands to hop to 3.0 land. Thats what I understand. Cute cat btw.

Ok hold on if it was just the map then why does Dgco go on to say it was all lost? My understanding is when you create a server the whitelist goes in the server folder and Dgco goes on to say the main folder was lost. Staff tries to cater to all players, result complain. Guys the server is american based, they try and cater to all players all around the world. If you want nonamerican holidays then post in suggestions/events and stop posting disdain on a thread ment for holiday cheer. I'd be willing to help out for other country holidays and at the same time get to learn about your holidays and customs. As for all the people saying that all these ooc events have no place in lotc. It's isnt a thanksgiving feast but some random feast the monks are hosting off the wall. Same for the halloween and soon christmas. They are events and the staff do try and extend them to other time zones so others can join in as well. If you want events in your time frame then organize in the suggestions and get the ball rolling instead of sitting around moping =p

We chose emeralds because they have no other purpose on LotC, as we do not use the vanilla NPC Villager merchants. RPly they are minted Minas coins. So no, they won't be mineable in all likelihood, you don't mine minted coins. Only other option to getting coin is through admin/mod trading of diamonds or gold at 50emeralds-1 gold and 150emeralds-1 diamond. And then there's the problem of the map being created with too little ores in wilds,then having to use prebuilt mines to aquire said ores. Then there's the option of being a zombie hunter, or working for someone that has large amounts of emeralds. Is it me or was this answer, I don't know kind of condescending to me? I know we don't use the squid merchants, I know we don't mine coins so why did you reply in such a manner as to belittle me. I don't know thats how I felt by this reply.

Not a damn thing is built you lazy taffers. The workshop is done and it houses the steam and redworks we've been working on. Very nice Brannty. As for the rest of you lazy bums this is really a sad excuse. Just because we maybe leaving soon doesn't automatically denote the option to stop your works. I'll be trying to manage some time to finish out the cathedral. Along with land negotiations, I've been very strapped on time. ((EDIT~November 21 2012~So it would seem everyone is bugged by the land deals that were all reneged on us and we have no where to go in the new map. As of right now bug out and do as you wish, however do so without being under the hammer banner. In time if there is still a place for us we'll regroup. Everything regioned. Prebuilt capitols and towns. Very small wilds. No more player created wars. That is a forced pathway for the player. Building and Pvp go hand in hand to create Rp. Rp cannot stand on it's own without the support of the two. Remove one or the other and it will wobble around ready to fall. Remove the two and you're left with a pitiful excuse of Rp. Rp doesnt go very well when these factors are removed or scripted by gm/admin onto the players. It's called forced Rp and it's not fun for the entire playerbase.

That is the main reason. How can a group even create or play when they know everything now is going to be null. You'd be better off having your group start up threads about what they want to see in the third map and how they can prepare for it. As of right now the entire base is in this mood of "reset soon".

Minecraft is the house in which you play Lotc inside. Be thankful to Mojang and the people there that gave you guys the platform to play off of. Never forget, this is a building game and will always be a building game. Remove what Minecraft is and you'll be left with a stale game of emotes and typing. Best RP happens on its own and the worst is the forced RP.

You do know this poll is rigged as far as voting right? Donators to nondonators, it's a bad poll. If you're set on having piller soulstones, then you also have to worry about campers waiting to rob people at said piller locations. More reports and modreqs then there's mobs spawning near them. Just stick with soulstones and restricted setting them in places your not allowed to.

Can we fix the server before we try adding more things to it? It's a major pain dying to lag outs and chunk errors. Walking back to meet with others met with a lag death by a mob or a chunk not loading followed by a long walk back resulting in another death trying to get back is turning into a chore and making playing on lotc not fun. Soulstone-broken Fast travel-broken Please fix these before changing them please. I know trying to change or fix someone else's code is really a pain. But I'm getting the feeling you guys didn't copy auslon and TEST on your own server before messing with his codes. Best of luck I know you two have a long road ahead of you. Please fix these two things first before trying to make new things please. As for the main topic you two had it right with permissions and not being able to set soulstone in areas that you werent a resident of, keep to that.
