(note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Southeron. Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): A strong lad, in his youth Jon of House Umber, later known as the the Greatjon, always wanted to follow in his fathers footsteps as a knight in the Kings service. He and his father owned a small castle and some land about 30 miles south of the Cloud Temple Sanctuary. When he was 4 years old, his mother passed away in the great plague of year 38. His father fought in the Battle of the Boot for king Eze'kiel. When the fighting turned bad, he ran away from the field and hid in the countryside. Alas, the hanseti did not forget his betrayal, as he had been one of the kingsguard and had therefore forsaken his honour to save his own skin. The knowledge of this turned Jon into a stubborn man, trying to restore what little honour their family had been left with. Alas, the day came when Jon's father, Gregor Umber, passed from this life. Jon's only inheritance was his father greatsword and the small cottage in which they had lived. Jon, now a man of 24 with a great blonde beard and portruding brow, set out into the world. He found himself in the great city of Oren, and there he took up a blacksmiths trade. His strong arms and fierce determination made him a good blacksmith. Eventually he fell on bad luck and his forge was seized in the name of the crown. Felling sorry for himself, he soon found himself in the nearest tavern downing drink after drink. A man came up to him and bellowed; "Look everyone, it's the broke blacksmith!" followed by roars of laughter. That was the beginning of the brawl. Chairs flew through the air, men fought, and Jon broke the nose of the man who had looked down on him for being poor. As brawls were not allowed by the Kings law, he found himself in one of the castle dungeons. When he got out he went looking for another trade, as his reputation as broke made sure he got no new customers. By coincidence, He found a trading caravan passing through the city gates, their carts badly damaged and no trade goods to be found. He asked one of the traders what had happened. He said; "We were ambushed by bandits in the wilderness. They took our trade goods, but did not find our hidden gold." An idea entered Jon's mind. He said; "If you pay for it, I would be happy to protect you on your next journey through the wilderness." "Are you saying your're a sellsword, is that it?" "I guess so.", said Jon. Jon spent the next few years working as a sellsword for all manners of merchant and traders. During this time he became well nkown for his ferocity when it came to protecting those he worked for, earning him the nickname "Greatjon". At the age of 28, Jon had come to the conclusion that while the work of a sellsword suited him splendidly, he wanted to do something to cleanse his fathers name. He thought; "Only by setting right what my father did wrong can I cleanse his name." After working for another six months with the caravans, he once again set out for a new goal. He would seek a way to come into the service of King Godfrey I of Horen's Kingsguard. Once there he would protect the king with nall his might, and in time he would die for the king, as his father had failed to do. Now 29 years old, with his big blonde beard and makeshift sellsword armor, Jon hopes to go down in history as a man of honour instead of only being remembered as the Greatjon. Even though he has a great sense of honour, he will only risk his hide in either the service of the king, as his time working as a sellsword has made him of the opinion that while it his own life is worth giving to cleanse his family name, no amount of gold can pay for a life. After arriving at the Cloud Temple, he set's out for the capital. What are your Character's ambitions?: Jon seeks to enter the service of a King Godfrey I, and to die while protecting him, in order to restore his fathers sullied name. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Jon's favorite tool is the greatsword his father left him when he passed away. Jon is quite adept at using the great blade, perfecting his form on bandits during his years as a sellsword protecting trading caravans. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? The Greatjon is a formidable swordsman, a skill he used to it's greatest extent to protect his employers when he worked as a sellsword. During his youth he also developed some skill in the art of smithing, but never came so far. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): http://i.imgur.com/fGf2H.png Other Information about your Character: He enjoys sitting in a tavern with some friends and having a heartly chat over a flagon of ale. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? "What's this I see? Two grown men trying to take the lifemoney o'some poor little halfling! You just leave him be and walk away, as I will see no injustice too any folk as long as they are within the kingdom. I'm only a common sellsword, but even I have more wits and honour than the two o'you, ya fools. Now begone with ya!" The largest of the men begins to unsheath a greatsword laying across his back. I pull out my trusty dirk and point it at his groin. "If you don't leave both me and the halfling be, I'll nick this vein in your nether region. And once it's nicked, I fear there is no one here who knows any way to stop you from bleeding out." The man releases his grip on the greatsword. "Thats better. Now off with ya!" As the men slouch away, the halfling thanks me for saving his life and purse. " I was only doing the duty of anyone who serves the Kings justice. Goodbye, little man." Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Unless you have a warm bed and a flagon of ale under that stall, leave me be, my friend. I am weary after a long travel and require ale and sleep more than any wares you can offer me. Good day to you." "I have fine wine and good cider that I am sure will suit a mighty warrior such as yourself", The merchant exclaims. "Never liked wine, woman's drink. And i'm no warrior, just a sellsword looking for work. Now let me go and rest before I have to move you myself." The merchant steps aside and I make my way towards the nearest inn. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: After making sure no one is looking, i take the iron bars, but leave the sword, as gold weapons are not reliable. " This iron is of better use as a kinfe or sword to defend someone, like that halfling a couple of weeks back, than it is laying in a chest in the middle of the wilderness", I think to myself as a carry on towards the nearest town. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? My friends, do you happen to have any spare food or water to give to a weary traveler? I have no money, but I would gladly offer my services as payment." One of the traders responds with the question; And what services be these, my friend?" "I am a sellsword, and bound for the nearest town, where i am guessing you are also headed. In exchange for food and water I would see you through the wilds and protect you on your way to the nearest town." "It's a deal!", says the merchant with a smile, and we shared food and stories together. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I realise that a raid like this would be a perfect way to be noticed by someone close to the court, perhaps even the King. However, I know that if something were to go wrong, my head would most likely end up on a spike at the bandit camp. I tell the captain of the guard; "A townguard that deals mostly with petty thievery and drunken brawls is going up against bandits that are likely seasoned killers. If I am to take such a risk, I would only do it if I am sure that there will be a song with my name in it afterwards. And to my recall there are not many songs about a raid on bandits by the town guard." The captain looks furious and scowls at me; " If you came to help us, do so. If not, and you only came in here to make your pretty little speech, the go back through that door and leave us to our work!" When the captain turns the other way, I silently slip out the door. Anything else you would like to say?: I have made the skin myself, but do not judge me by it, as it was my first time.
