Human

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):
Rhavin was born to the union of a female human and a male dwarf. He was sired when a dwarven expedition took his father past the village where his mother lived, a recent widow left with no children. His father only found out about the child on the way back from said expedition, and while Rhavin grew up often seemed distracted and unhappy with his circumstances, yearning for the battlefield and mead hall perhaps. But he was an honourable man and agreed to stay and help raise the child. However the unlikely couple were often ridiculed by neighbours, the gossip being in many ways more harmful to the family than a simple confrontation would have been. The constant underhanded mocking drove Rhavin to be a solitary child filled with impotent rage in his younger years. He was prone to dark philosophical contemplations and lacked friends, even growing apart from his parents because of their distant and haggard demeanour, the gossip and changed circumstances having taken their toll over the years. Rhavin’s life turned around for the first time when he discovered a book of natural philosophy at around age 16, and was instantly taken with it’s fantastical view of the wider world and it’s deliberate logical process of observing this world. It then changed for the second time when he met an elf by chance, a wood elf passing through the village on the way to deliver a message. Rhavin was amazed by the easy grace and unconscious beauty of this elf, and upon procuring a book detailing their near immortality he became further entranced.
Years of frantic research passed, Rhavin growing slowly but inexorably away from his dysfunctional family. At age 18 he heard word that his mother had died and his father moved away, and was not at all surprised or greatly affected. Where before he had possessed a latent anger, he was now possessed by a furious drive to uncover the mysteries of the world, being especially interested in the elven language and elven immortality. He travelled between the great libraries of Asulon, often frequenting the cloud temple. And that is how we now find him. At 24 he stands at 2.8 foot high, with pitch hair and uncommon violet eyes. He prefers rich clothes dark in colour, an attempt to overcome the inferiority complex being a Halfling in a human village, and making no headway with his research, brought about. He is intense and ambitious, obsessed with discovering something to make the world a better place and prove his worth, the worth of all Halfling’s even. Although his morality is best describes as chaotic good in that he sometimes commits an evil in order to achieve what he perceives as the greater good, he is very loyal to the few true friends he makes. His humour is always active, if somewhat snarky. His humour is also somewhat stepford as Rhavin is generally solitary and slow to make friends. His bleak demeanour remains, but is usually driven away by the incredible thirst for knowledge the unknown brings about inside of him. While obsessed with some scholarly concept it can disappear entirely, leaving only an intense determination. During his early years Rhavin’s mother taught him to farm, forming some of his happiest memories. To this day farming is a source of peace for him, even if he only keeps a small plot. Perhaps it’s the idea of cultivating life, or simply the tranquillity of the work, but it helps calm his mind.
What are your Character's ambitions?:
To make some discovery, or act in such a way that the world is forever improved, thus immortalising the Halfling race as a major force in Asulon and overcoming his crippling inferiority complex.
What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):
The bucket, because of how multipurpose it is. It can help cultivate life, or it could spill fiery death upon a perceived enemy. Also it does not fail if overused, and as such can be a companion for years.
What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?
He is very patient and deliberate while studying, and as such possesses great deductive and reasoning ability.

Other Information about your Character:
During his travel’s he gained basic combat training, but showed no obvious skill or preference. The struggle with his inferiority complex can often manifest as arrogance or a rediscovery of the rage he felt in youth. Also he suffers from loneliness, but refuses to admit this fact and is too nervous to approach many social situations. He is the most extreme pessimist, because he used to be the strongest optimist. Stories of brave knights captured his younger mind and the innate goodness of people used to warm his heart. Alas this was soon snuffed by the taunts of children, the distant relationship he kept with his suffering parents and the utter monotony of the life he led. As such the bleakest of scenes resonate most with his soul.
Open-Response-Questions
Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.
Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small Halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?
Rhavin’s mouth dried and he felt beads of sweat forming on his brow as he hesitantly raised a hand; “err…” he managed to croak. He then cleared his throat in anticipation of another attempt at speaking, struggling to recover the rage he had often felt in the library whilst reading accounts of Halfling's being taken advantage of. It was a lot more difficult to do with the two burly toughs eclipsing his vision. “I think you ought to consider releasing him, sirs” Rhavin finally stuttered out, internally accepting his own death at the hands of the men, while at the same time knowing he could not leave the Halfling alone. He began blushing furiously as the guards glanced around, before finally looking down upon the diminutive Halfling. The two then began chuckling, sharing dull witticisms based upon Rhavin’s lack of height and the coincidence of there being two Halfling’s “away from their holes” at the same time. This display of animalistic stupidity quickly dispelled Rhavin’s fear and replaced it with a cool distaste. So he proceeded to pull a fire charge (an alchemical device of encapsulated blaze powder) he’d been handling out of his voluminous pocket and smash it upon the ground, causing a brilliant flash of flame sure to attract any law enforcers in the area. A wry laugh escaped Rhavin’s mouth as that point visibly dawned on the men and they immediately scattered.
Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?
“Well, I do find myself in need of some writing implements, as it happens, good sir. Might you be able to provide? Nothing too common mind, I’m heading to the cloud sanctuary, and hope to make a fine first impression if the situation allows.” The merchant looked down incredulously at the combined odd sight of the richly dressed barefoot Halfling leaning nonchalantly against a foot high signpost, and the flow of words that sounded a bit too pompous to be believable. The pause stretched, causing Rhavin to glance up, annoyed and embarrassed that his attempt at social ingratiation had failed. The merchant was still gawking, so Rhavin cursed him for a fool and strode off, intent on finding a suitable store and covering the embarrassment he felt.
Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:
Rhavin stared rapturously at the golden sword, which seemed to glow to his eyes. The vision of himself strolling down a rich Boulevard in fine black garb with that strapped to his side enchanted him, the imagined women who would flock to his striking figure and the soldiers that would clamour to swear by his golden sword. But Rhavin then noticed that it was much too large for him, and sighed in disappointment. No matter, he thought, as he pocketed the iron bars and strolled off, whistling merrily.
Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?
“Hail friends” Rhavin shouted, smiling in relief. Finally a warm meal and company had presented itself. Then he noticed that the layout of the camp presented shop fronts filled with charms and trinkets displayed to their best advantage, and he recognised the glimmer in the eyes of the men to be a hawker’s eagerness. Sighing, Rhavin turned around; choosing to risk the wild’s rather than suffer the insistence of a roadside salesman smelling minas.
You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:
Realising that this was an opportunity to acquire the funds needed for his next trip Rhavin decided to frequent the rougher taverns in the town. After achieving this and finding a number of toughs therein he approaches the guard captain as a middle man, procuring a nice cut of the reward for himself. Satisfied, Rhavin considers this both a morally good and a profitable endeavour, as he did relocate men who would ordinarily drink themselves into a stupor into a fighting force for justice.
Anything else you would like to say?:
(out of character)-I thank you for taking the time to read this, and i hope it doesn’t impose terribly upon your time. Feedback would be greatly appreciated as I intend to keep applying until either success or death make an appearance.
