What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Druidic Communion and Control

Summarise the Lore of this magic(s):

Communion and Control are broken down into two aspects (haha), that's right you guessed it, Communion and Control. Communion is the beginning, the introduction, and the start for all druids. It allows them to connect, communicate, and understand the natural world around them. Through training, experience, meditation, etc. one becomes more powerful in their communion, as in the beginning it is weak and requires nurtured growth, akin to all magics. On top of this, no subtypes can rise above the base tier of Communion, it's important. Control is the interaction and manipulation of the natural world around you. Beating people to death with roots, asking a flower to dance, or forcing a tree to wave a branch. It cannot rise above the current Communion tier and much like Communion, you require a teacher to learn it.

Write up a lesson that your character would give to a student:

This lesson will follow Skale as he begins to guide his daughter Lya, through the early stages of Communion and Control.

Skale sat in silence within the Mother Grove, the scarred elf's legs were crossed beneath him. His form adjacent to a lake, home to a particularly large octopus who seemed unbothered by his presence. The sound of someone approaching awoke him from his revere, his gaze drifting open to peer at she who would interrupt his meditation. His moment of anger would slip away and turn to joy as he realized his young daughter approached him for her first lesson. As Lya opened her mouth to speak, Skale silenced her with a wave of his hand before motioning to sit across from him. Her gaze flicked to the sunbathing octopus who drifted lazily around the small lake, though at her father's confident and reassuring smile, she took a seat across from him and mirrored his pose. Skale's smile only grew as he looked upon his daughter, pride swelling in his scarred chest.

"Alright dear," Skale began as his right hand glided across the surface of nearby grass. "Today we begin your lessons. As you are newly attuned to the gifts granted to us by the Aspects, the world is likely overwhelming. The Hum is now a core part of your being and it is singing to you, always singing to you." His gaze shifted to a nearby flower momentarily as his eyes began to radiate a vermilion glow. At the gentle wave of his hand, the flower would shift left and right as if waving at Lya, the gesture bringing a smile onto her sunken face.

"I know, pa." Lya's smile grew as she continued to watch the flower. "I was hoping we can start with something fun, such as taming a wild beast or working with the field to increase it's yield..." She trailed off at seeing Skale shaking his head weakly to the side, mirroring the actions of the nearby rose.

"We will begin simple, as I did. Today, you are going to commune with that flower," he raised his other hand and pointed to a nearby rose to the first. "And you are going to have it do the same as mine; wave to me." The elf leaned back slightly, smiling at his daughter. A curious expression came over her face, rather than one of disappointment. "We are protectors of the natural world, gifted with these powers from the Aspects to serve it. Our gifts must be nurtured, just as this flower or a child must be nurtured. Starting small will eventually lead to dozens of wonderful feats." His eyes kept up their glow, the flower still gently waving back and forth at Lya.

"Okay, pa." Lya nodded her head and closed her eyes. She fell into a pattern of breathing her father had taught her days before, becoming comfortable and relaxed within the moment. Small beads of sweat began to form on her brow as she focused. Nearly a minuted had gone by before the small elf opened her eyes once more, a faint glow emitted from them. "I'm ready, Pa. What next?" She looks back to her father with a wide grin. Skale's hand rose and pointed back to the flower once more, his daughter understanding immediately. Lya shifted her attention back and focused. Another minute would go by, the small beads of sweat now rolling down her face she concentrated. The flower would only shiver in response at first. A small pout formed on her lips as she became frustrated, though Skale's smiling face kept her relaxed. She fell back into her pattern of breathing, the pout disappearing as a wide smile replaced it once more! The flower mirrored that of the other, except it waved back and forth at her father!

"Pa, I did it!" Lya raised her hands in celebration, her excitement in her success breaking the connection. Her eyes widened slightly as the flower stopped and she looked to Skale. "I'm s-sorry, pa."

Skale's smile further calmed her as she shook his head. "It is fine, dear. That was phenomenal work. And on your first try!" He reached out to gently pat her shoulder. "Soon you will accomplish much more than your mother or I ever could hope to accomplish in our lives, darling. This is just the first step in a long path that will test both your character and your resolve, Lya. Never give up. And remember, your mother and I will be here for you till the end. The elf stood up, offering a hand to his daughter. "Lets go, your mother is making her best dish!"

Lya took his hand and stood, grinning. "Your stew leftover!?" She asked with obvious excitement!

"That she is, darling." Skale laughed as he turned, beginning to lead her off towards their home.

"It's always better the second time, Pa!" And as the two departed, an abnormally large octopus would wave them off, his various tentacles drifting back and forth in the air as it swam throughout it's home.

A CA doesn't do anything when anyone can apply for one. Ologs have no special requirements to make them, and so posting the SHORTEST application on the server won't do anything. Staff, or players just need to be more of aware of meme RP and punish those who act poorly accordingly.

You can take away a CA without a ban. This keeps players on the server, offering a type of punishment they will feel the effects of without being forced away for a period of time. Which I feel is beneficial.

Ologs and trolls both suffer from weaknesses to daylight as mentioned. I agree that people have misused ologs in the past, either making them 15ft tall or indestructible, though I believe its due to a lack of clear lore and character development. In older renditions of their lore, they lacked a max strength which led to excessive powergaming. Moreover, ologs/trolls were not given  opportunities to roleplay outside of, " Mi zmash, latz flat". Nexus also made them extremely easy to abuse, and without any real roleplay opportunity due to their stupidity, they were left as memeish pvp alts. Even during this however, there were a host of olog players who sought to perform good roleplay despite being hindered by lore.

I think now, with nexus removed, and clearer guidelines, people will not only be punished harder for the issues mentioned above, but strive for better roleplay with this addition.

The Olog you are currently clarifying is a creature far beyond the other races in terms of potential. Yes they have to be stupid, yes they can't learn magic, and sure they don't like the sun. However, we are talking about a species that can lift up to 1,600 pounds. That is insane. They can grow up to 13 ft tall. Sure they are more bestial the larger they are, but that isn't necessarily a weakness. And it ties in with my other point. Beasts, no matter how stupid, have an instinct to survive. They will do anything to survive, it's hotwired into their being. You can play around their stupidity just by playing as if you were an animal. Their height, as mentioned before, is ridiculous. Tree Lords, Atronachs, and Golems can't even be that large and all of them require a CA. On top of that, they are inherently weaker physically, one of which is an end game to a magic might I add, and all of them have a host of weaknesses beside them.

The base creature should require a CA in order to be played. Giving people a hulking mass of muscle with easy to ignore weaknesses and a host of strengths easy to powergame is bad. As it stands, we aren't seeing a lot of blacklists or reports. So hoping the average player decides to report these people when most people don't even want the trouble due to DDOsing and other shitty things that happen seems like a bad standard to set.

No, base ologs will not require CAs. The reason I implemented CAs for multi-olog/troll headedness was to ensure player care about the character development, as well as to prevent a sprouting of multi-headed ologs, and not making them unique.

Help me understand why a creature with various other worldy strengths with the only weakness of "dumb" doesn't require a CA. You know the lore better than I do, however I've seen years of these creatures misused to the point where I believe they NEED to be lore moderated. Even creatures with more defined lore struggle with it, so I do not believe a lack of concrete lore is the issue.

EDIT: And if I understand correctly, growing an extra head makes it easier to fight off something that should stonewall an Olog, that being a Mental Mage. I don't foresee people roleplaying the weakness of:
    "We're two personalities who disagree."

Because the instinct of survival, even among dumb creatures, is much higher.

  6. Does this require them to have a CA?

Being able to lift 1600 pounds, have multiple heads, various unnatural scales and the like. . . I only skimmed it, so be merciful. It seems like it's a great update for the species, as they should be more defined but as it stands now, it feels as if Ologs are an excuse to powergame.

EDIT: I see a CA is required for extra heads, does this apply to the base creature?

    1. I don't have a very good understanding of the Farfolk race. I've seen them played, but not often. I think they are better than the random meme-tier Slav-human roleplay.

    2. I really have no idea. That the Caliphate?

    3. Wars are a fun and interesting factor of LotC. The problem is rules are rough and there isn't a concrete way to enjoy them for all parties, which sorta sucks.

    4. It could definitely be better, but I only believe it's on a climb to a better place.

    5. Get rid of Leowarrior.

    6. Yeah, why not.

    1. Find a character you like and stick with them. Otherwise you won't leave an impact on the server in the way I know you can.

    2. I think you're a great person.

    3. I don't see you doing too much player interaction, which I feel the GMs should be doing the most. I can just be missing it. I don't think you're a bad GM however.

    4. I like roleplaying in the Dominion because of my friends. If they weren't there, I wouldn't be there.

My favorite four man is the Leper, Hellion, Vestel, and Arbalest. The other I like just as much would be the Grave Robber, Occultist, Abomination, and Jester.

I call the first one: "****" and the second one "Why'd I run this?"
