Out-Of-Character
Minecraft Account Name: JaffaJoke
How old are you?: 20
Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Eastern Standard Time, USA
Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I believe I do, I've been speaking it my entire life.
Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I have been Role Playing for six years now on a variety of sources. I enjoy a good story more than just a good fight. That said, However, I believe that conflict is the driving force behind every story and that to ignore it invites awful RP.
How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I work 40 hours a week, so the rest of the time. I tend to get very involved in whatever RP I do.
What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is working together with a group of people to weave a story. Its about accepting what logically would happen in a situation, even if that means you die or lose everything. Life isnt fair, and neither is roleplay. That said, I believe a roleplayer's first responsibility is to the greater story at hand.
What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Six Years of Roleplay on BYOND, Two years of Roleplay on various Forums (The Star Wars RP most recently), and 1 year of Text Based RP through a third party client program.
In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta Gaming is, at its simplest, using outside or OOC Knowledge to effect what your character does. For example, if your friend Skypes you and says "OMG DUDE! BANDITS AT BASE! GOGOGOOGOG" It would be metagaming to flock there. The legit thing to do is let the place burn to the ground, then ICly flip out when you get home.
In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: I assume that by power emoting you mean Godmodding. In that case, Its when you write an RP in such a way that procludes any possibility of countering it. AKA *Bob Stabs Terry in the stomach, killing him instantly* This is Unacceptable RP, and bad for the story.
In your own Words, define what Out of Character (OOC) is: OOC is any action taken out of character. This includes going places your Char wouldnt go on his own or even just the discussions held via brackets to discuss daily goings on. OOC should never effect IC.
In your own Words, define what In Character (IC) is: IC is any action taken by your character in a roleplaying environment. All interaction with other characters that effects the In Game world should be IC. Otherwise, you are bringing OOC into IC, which is retarded and most likely Ban Worthy.
What do you expect this server will be like?: I have heard very good things about this server from a friend of mine who recently joined. Im actually applying at his behest.
What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I never really did much multiplayer minecraft. Mostly because the rules on the servers were just too vague.

How did you hear about us?: A friend of mine who used to Admin with me on BYOND told me.

Character Name: Veritus Vael
What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Elf
What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Wood Elf
Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):
Deep in the forests of Malinor in the land of Aegis, under the boughs of the great darkwood trees, Veritus Vael was born under unassuming circumstances. Well, Unassuming for an elf that is. You see, while most races have many children but live relatively few years, Elves dwindle on into the dusty ages. Children, on the other hand, are a rarity and a luxury. His parents were so proud to welcome into the world. But what sort of a world was it to be?
From a young age, his days were spent either wandering his forest home with his father on hunts or staying with his mother and working the land. Veritus is, in the common tongue, a Wood Elf. Born of the wilds and more at home under leafy boughs than in stone halls. In the shadow of great Laurelin young Veritus laughed and played. However, there were no children near him. At least, none his own age. And the magic of the forests could only sustain his curiosity for so long.
Of course, curiosity or no, even a young elf such as Veritus understood when danger approached. Like a storm on the Horizon, Iblees threatened to sweep through the lands of Malinor and wipe out her elves. When all other hope seemed lost, the refugees from the great battles gathered in Laurelin. Veritus and his parents traveled with them, escaping Aegis before all was lost. Soon, they arrived in Asulon, where all began anew and the land of Malinor was rebuilt once more.
Despite the fact that during the undead war Veritus and his kin were not in direct combat, He remembers well the lessons of war and the pride of men. He still weeps for the forests of his old home, and feels a longing that they might one day be reborn in Asulon. As such, he makes it a habit to help nurture the trees that he finds, growing them tall and strong in memory of his lost home.
Under his father's tutelage, the boy learned to fletch arrows and fire a bow. The bow, which is so central to wood elven culture that it is almost as second nature to them as breathing. From his mother, he learned to love the lands. He learned to harvest plants which would be useful and sow the seeds to regrow them. One must never take more than he gives back to the forest. Time dragged on, and decades became a century. Veritus, now Nearly 153 years of age, decided that the time had come to make his own way in the world.
He took with him his pack, his clothes, and a good walking stick. Of course, this walking stick promptly broke so he was left with only what he had on his back. His goal, to wander the world and find a place for someone such as himself. Born of the forests yet longing for more. Perhaps one day he would return to his home and once again walk the grassy clearings and gaze up at the dark canopy, if only in the life after. Perhaps he would never see home again, and instead find his place among the other races. Wherever he went, he decided, he would go with a smile on his face and the trees in his heart.
Veritus is a short statured, kind looking soul with hair the color of the bark on the trees and tanned skin. His brilliant emerald green eyes seem to pierce right into you, almost like a hawks eyes. His long brown hair drapes over his shoulders and hangs around his ears, which curve up and end in a point. Veritus is, for the most part, more likely to help a stranger rather than leave them to their own devices. He has a strong connection to nature in all its forms, and appreciates natural beauty.
What are your Character's ambitions?: To see the rest of the lands and find a place for himself. His is a journey of self discovery more than anything else as he searches for somewhere he truly belongs.
What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): He is equally comfortable holding a Bow or a shovel and hoe.
What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? As a wood elf, Veritus is a natural archer. However, due to his mothers influence he is also a skilled Herbalist.
A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ):
Other Information about your Character: Veritus is right handed and slightly claustrophobic. He would prefer to be outside under the sky than in a building of stone.
Open-Response-Questions
Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.
Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?
Veritus walks along the road, his pack shifting on his back and a whistle on his lips. Spotting the halfling seeming to be in trouble, the Elf approaches while still whistling. He stops a few yards away from the commotion, hands on the straps of his pack. "Oi.... What seems to be the trouble here you two? I dont mean to interfere, But if your intention is to intimidate someone for profit perhaps a halfling is not the best choice. Simply because they can carry less on their person than say, an orc. Perhaps a more profitible target next time?" This was, of course, just a distraction. Perhaps he could afford the Halfling time to escape or even disuade them entirely. Veritus shrugs inwardly.
Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?
Veritus smiles at the seemingly very posh man, what with his accent and all. "Hail friend. I was actually wondering if you might be able to point me in the direction of some work. You see, Im a traveler and a bit of a freelancer. I work wherever I go and move on before I get the chance to lay down roots, if youll forgive the elf humor." The Elf chuckles a little lightly, a wide smile on his seemingly youthful face. "So, friend. Have you any need for a man of the forests?"
Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:
Veritus steps into the small hut, its weathered looks hinting at a lack of resident. His first priority? To search for any sign of what happened to the occupants. Finding a resounding lack of evidence one way or the other, the Elf sighs and sits down on a chest. As he does, a metallic clinking can be heard from inside the box. Standing up, the elf turns and opens the Box up. A beautiful golden blade and several bars of metal lie within. Closing the box again, Veritus shakes his head a little and walks out. That was just too good to be true, and he was worried about a trap.
Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?
Veritus stumbles into the camp, looking worn and weary from his trials in the wilderness. As the traders greet him, Veritus waves to them with a smile on his face. "Greetings, new friends... I appear to be lost and my stomach is distinctly empty... Might I trouble you for some food and a glass of whatever it is you are drinking? I would gladly repay you with whatever you wish, be it work or knowledge. However, as you can see I have very few Posessions. So tell me, can we arrive at some sort of agreement?"
You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:
Standing in the back of the group, the Elf watches as one by one the local residents volunteer for the party. No doubt for the reward. Veritus raises his hand and, in his almost musical voice, speaks to the leader. "I would assist you, if you wish it, by scouting ahead of you and locating any unpleasent surprises... I do not ask compenation, per se. Merely that you allow me to stay in this place for the time being and provide me with a warm meal when it is done. Do we have an accord?"
Anything else you would like to say?: Bananas are still an excellent source of Potassium.
