Definitions
In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is:
Roleplaying is effectively living another character by means of a structure. Each character is not a soulless bunch of pixels, or a means to complete actions, it is an individual with individual thoughts, beliefs, ideologies etc.
In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is:
Metagaming is knowing things your character can't, or wouldn't, know. For example, a peasant would not have extensive knowledge of a long forgotten war unless told in stories, but by metagaming he appears to know.
In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is:
Power-emoting is when one character does an emote, for example an attack. Instead of "attempting" the attack, allowing the victim to respond accordingly, the attacker merely states the outcome. Example of power-emote: "[Character] spins his blade around, cleaving through [Character2]'s neck, killing him instantly."
In-Character Details
Character Name: Kelian Archibald Rigson
Character Race: Human
Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:
Kelian Archibald Rigson was born into a poor farming family. Whilst his brothers, like his father, found the farming work a good enough profession, Kelian grew to hate the long hours and hard work. Soon enough, he couldn't take much more, and asked his father, Jova Rigson, if he could leave the farm and try to make his mark in the world. Jova refused, and scolded Kelian for thinking such ridiculous things. Kelian continued to work the farms for the next five years.
At the age of nineteen however, a band of adventurers came by their farm, on the way to Arethor. They stayed at the farm for three nights, but as they were leaving on the final, fourth night, Kelian decided he would follow them. The adventurers agreed to take Kelian to Arethor, but refused to let him join them on account of his age and lack of skill. Thus, Kelian Archibald Rigson was left outside the city, not knowing what to do, or where to start.
The driving force behind his choice is that he wishes to become someone of note, to prove his father Jova that you can't stick around forever. He has struggled to make a living by doing small jobs, and now seeks more adventurous awards.
What are your characters ambitions?: Kelian wishes to become a notable figure. His problem is that he doesn't care how he gets there, nor what will come about as a result.
Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here:
Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: Kelian is physically able, due to his farming time, however lacks weapon and armour skills. He is, however, quite handy with sleight of hand and stealth.
Open-Response-Questions
Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.
Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?
I feel pity towards the dwarf, knowing that his business is not successful, but all I can do is feel pity; he's not the only one trying to make a living, and I won't waste my time nor money on things I don't need. I bid him good day, and he nods in an understanding way, as if he realises our collective struggle to make a living.
You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?
I stay back, hesitating. Three options instantly occur to me, as I crouch in the darkness, watching. I could try and help the dwarf, but I have no blade, and the Orc could probably handle both me and the Dwarf easily judging by his size. Alternatively, the Orc, if this situation does become violent, will easily handle that Dwarf. If he takes the Dwarf down, I could search him and take what I need, because whatever the Dwarf has can be sold, or used. I've been needing a weapon after all. Or I could just leave them both to handle the situation... I decide it'd be best to leave them, but I stay, watching as the violence breaks out. Following a short yet brutal scuffle, the Dwarf lies unconscious, the Orc bloodied. As the Orc limps away, I rush to the Dwarf, and drag him to safety.
Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:
I look from the old man to the money, and realise I can win something out of this. I move quickly to his side, lifting him up to his feet, asking where he is alright. After his response I don't really pay attention to, I tell him: "Don't worry, I'll get your money back, don't over exert yourself", and begin to place the money back. I then hand the bag over to the grateful old man, hoping for reward, but the only form of payment I receive is his gratitude.
Cheers, Kelian.
