  1. A lone woman slowly sets her tea down as she quietly listens in to conversation about the dead mage. A sigh, a frown. “I always knew his mouth would get him into trouble somewhere.. I’m surprised it was in Belvitz, though.” She’d quietly lift her tea, taking a brief moment of silence before smiling softly, “At least I’m free from his foolishness, now.”

Yet further beyond, as the damned ascends to the realm of Ebrietas to suffer, a lone soul with eyes of glittering emerald watches from his place in Palhalla. “Did I not offer you salvation, Richard Baruch? Now you are damned forevermore to suffer Aeriel’s cruel torments..” As the soul spake, he’d make the sign of the Lion and cast his gaze back towards the ivory throne for but a moment. “When the time is right, we will meet again, old friend..”

((Congratulations for having the stones to go through with it, Leo. The longer you’ve held a character, the harder the loss is. I wish you luck in your next endeavor, be it what it may. o7))

  2. Mmn. Age and PK is all well and dandy, but more often than not I see these caps used like a sledgehammer to attack people OOCly to gain an advantage. Without strict, admin-enforced PKs for age, important deaths, and suicide, there’s not much point continuing to whine about it. Being toxic and killing them every time you see them IRP as an unholy abomination isn’t exactly a solution, either, considering that a recent LT decision just made a rather large number of immortal skeletons into fleshy meatbags again.

  3. You know, I can sort of get behind this, but at the same time, no. Druids don’t particularly /need/ undead teachers. It seems like just a way for PKed druids to come back and still have druidic power compared to the usual soul shadows available. Just use the immortality button that is Treelord and be content with that. Y’all already give it out to most druids near a PK age to begin with.

I know I don’t really matter any more and you guys can do whatever you want with Tahariaean morality, but “don’t ***** around and maybe act like a religious person when playing a cleric” doesn’t seem that unreasonable or strict.

I agree with you. Unfortunately, it came down to votes and the votes came out strongly against enforcing them in any way, shape, or form that could be applied to the entire group.

EDIT: I totally forgot to ask: where are the Utterings of Tahariae? Those were the actual words and instructions of Tahariae for the clerics, generated through four in-game events in which Tahariae spoke through the prophet Ashanaak. You’re going to need some sort of RP reasoning for those being tossed out.

Utterings have been declared non-canon due to how strict they are. the LT had refused to enforce them and so they’ve been scrapped despite the protests of the old guard wanting them to stay.

  7. Musings Upon Darkness

    By Initiate Jaymes Kowacz

Arrogant is the eye that claims to see, when all before it is darkness unbroken. All sin stems from the claim that one sees without aid. As one brings a torch to a darkened hollow, so too does the Holy Flame banish sin from the soul, allowing the blind in sin to see in righteous. It is therefore the duty of all Righteous Folk to arise and bear forth the Flame to the darkened corners. To expose the Witch, the Heretic, and the Daemon wherever they may be found, suffering not their corruptive influence to taint the Father’s land any further.

To wield the corruptive influence of the Void is to blaspheme the Father, wielding the forces of the Void to unmake the natural perfection so granted in stewardship. Then there are those Aengulists who scoff at the truth, evoking Light and banishing darkness in the name of their selfish Ancients. Though they abhor the Daemon, they are Witches nonetheless, for their Light is hollow, arrogant, and devoid of purity. Power at the cost of one’s soul in chains, held forever bereft of the Father in the accursed’s domain, is an Iblaeic bargain for little gain. Suffer not their self-righteous prattle, and grant them the Father’s Mercy before they turn their blood-stained knives upon you.

Where the Aengulist wields an unholy magic for seemingly good ends, the Daemon is unabashedly anathema, having shunned the cloth of their kindred to wield abyssal nightmares to live out their degenerate whims. Spare no expense in their persecutions, hunt them until their souls are spent and they return nevermore.

Fear the corruptive touch of the Heretic, who damns himself for unlife eternal. Spurn them at every turn for their perversion of the Father’s Creation, and suffer not them to exist in your presence. Hunt ceaseless for their phylacteries, that they may be cast into the Abyss they worship in eternal damnation as they deserve. There is no salvation for them to be had.

Do not suffer not the Witch, the Daemon, and the Heretic to live, lest you find the flame within snuffed out with nary a whisper.

MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

This is Uthrandl, the Gloaming Sword. It is an ancient arming sword crafted of two metals divided down the length of the blade. One half is of grey gold, depicting both Aenguls and emitting a hallowed aureate light. The other is of black steel, depicting various Daemons and exhuming a tenebrous mist. The grey gold itself would defy all examination, possessed of a strength equal to the black steel opposing it. [Please see MArt page for effects and powers.]

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

    Unhallowed:

When activated by drawing blood with the blade, Uthrandl's corrupted heart bears undulating, vaporous limbs of smog-like lifeforce mists which enact a tetherdrain upon all within its reach (five block diameter sphere). These arms slither out and latch onto any living entities besides the wielder and acts the same as a tier 5 necromancer's tetherdrain, capable of incapacitating and/or killing within 8 emotes of sustained exposure. Should the blade mark the flesh of the living within this aura of withering a black, festering mark appears where the blade has struck for the first time, a wound telling of a witchery-befouled fate. Any marked individuals who die from the tetherdrain automatically become risen as zombies for the wielder to control as though they were cursed with Branding.

Should a necromancer wield Uthrandl, the occultist may tap into the heart of the blade and draw upon its gnawing lifeforce bank, acting as a font of lifeforce for casting. This equates to the necromancer having access to an additional tier 5 necromancer's full pool of lifeforce.

    Hallowed:

When in its hallowed state it can cut necromancer’s tethers, severing linked draining effects upon the wielder and their allies.

Uthrandl in it’s hallowed form generates the destructive force of the Flames of Reckoning. Upon command, it will generate this deific flame around the blade. It can, however, upon second command, eject this flame in a brief flamethrower that drains the blade's manapool.

Uthrandl also purges physical taint in an area around the blade, cleansing fauna. (Acts as a Cleric’s Purge Taint.)

The weapon serves a font of raw clerical energy to be drawn from, serving as an extensive extra pool for sustaining divine magic, equivalent to five extra tiers.

The bond of one blooded with the Ichor of a Paragon of Light coaxes both the intense heat and light of a torch to exhale from the blade.

    Both:

The bond between Uthrandl and it’s bearer is both sacred, and profane. One cannot wield it without first knowing it’s bite. For Cleric and Necromancer both, they must have let it taste of their blood and drink deeply, exhausting their ability to cast for the IRL day as it draws upon their aura to awaken. For the next week, the wound shall weep openly, leaving the afflicted at half their maximum casting pool until it scars over on the seventh day. Once scarred, the wielder may call upon the hallowed or unhallowed form, whichever is appropriate to the magic within them.

Most curiously, the one bonded to Uthrandl will have their available mana pool reduced two tiers after only three uses, to the capacity of a T3 cleric or necromancer. This creates a crippling dependency upon the blade.

Can deflect and parry projectile spells stemming from a user of the opposite affiliation.

The blade assumes the form of a longsword, but upon uttering a prayer bearing its name, the weapon reforms to assume the shape and length of the weapon most suited to its bearer.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

Cannot combat voidal magics, thus the wielder is susceptible to them.

The range of the blade’s influence  is a five block diameter square.

Extended use of the weapon builds a dependency in its wielder, causing them to act with a selfish mannerism whenever the weapon is discussed or threatened.

The bonded wielder of Uthrandl can only cast up to tier three without the blade at hand. The blade itself would act as the energy of an additional T5 necromancer or cleric for the expenditure of magic.

The weapon is unassuming in the hands of a non-divine mortal, it serves as a simple Steel Sword.

Only Necromancers and Clerics can properly wield the blade and utilize its powers and extended pools of energy.

Only the pure may wield the blade in it’s hallowed form. The wielder must be of sound mind, having mastery over their emotions. Thus, free of temptation and wrath, they are capable of utilizing the hallowed version of Uthrandl. Furthermore, should the Cleric have ever slain a descendant in cold blood, Uthrandl shall spurn their prayers, becoming as inert steel in their grasp.

Failure to abide by this will cause the blade to taint itself and the user, harming the Cleric’s powers each time until they’ve devolved to tier 1. Lost tiers are regained every two weeks per tier.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

    Ancient Lore (https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/142787-the-annals-of-esheveurd/) :
Formerly known as “The Gloaming Sword” a member of the Sunforged Remnants, the blade is a mysterious relic of the “Dim Kiln” which boasted a divine aura of the sun’s strength and the influence of Tahariae. Furthermore, it tempered into a war-forged product due to the expansive conflict betwixt the Ashford people, Eshænveurd by the ancient tongues, and the Vækr. Known as the war of the Dark Sun the events spurred practice of godless Necromancy which befouled the Sunforged Remnants inspiring a heinous bastardization of these relics. It was not until the possession of the relics by King Helvegan, ruler of the Eshænveurd realm, that dragon’s fire purged the darkness and enforced the conflicting unity of these states between light and dark.

    Modern Lore:
Uthrandl is a cryptic blade of an even more questionable heritage. Although one detail is known about it, the relic is claimed by the Aengul Tahariae to serve as the beacon of hope for His servants as per the litanies dictated by the Itharel of Justice, prior to the age of silence. Uthrandl was rediscovered during the times of Athera, prior to the release of Iblees, and borne by a number of clerics until lost to the Adherency, the necromancy cult of the Ebenmoor, where its Arch-Lich Chrodraeos utilized it to plague the swamps of Athera for decades.  Not until a betrayal by one of the Arch-Lich’s servants, was Uthrandl taken into the grasp of Ser Rosencrantz Revandir, the Itharel of Valor known as Tulrinn, with assistance of his brothers in the Chantry of Tahariae. Since then Uthrandl has experienced countless exploits, namely partaking in battle against the forces of the Dark Itharel during the Age of Silence, an era of waning Clerical presence, and during the Clerical Crises where the Adherency utilized the capture of prominent Order members in attempt to reacquire the relic in the name of the Xionist cause. Though not all things last. Uthrandl vanished, hidden away upon the Isle of Tahn lest it fall from hallowed hands by Rosencrantz himself. The location entrusted to none save Rosencrantz and his appointed heir, Mia de Silvarois. With the former missing and presumed dead, however, Mia de Silvarois spirited it away in the collapse of Axios, bringing it with her to the new land, to Atlas. Though she herself was incapable of wielding it, she kept it secret, kept it safe. It was only upon her deathbed did she reveal where she had hidden it. From there, the mantle of warden passed to Aila Avern.

There's some overlap here with the Tears of Aeriel lore. My 2 cents are:

    > Tears of Aeriel is more focused as a water theme in general. Blessed Waters is a bit out of left field in comparison to the rest of the rewrite.

    > Astral pools give a constant, passive effect which is more manageable and simple than the healing effect of Blessed Waters. Who is going to track whether a pool has actually been used 7 times a day? What if someone doesn't document their use? Someone would need to look at the lore to determine a difference between a T2 healing spell vs a T3 healing spell.

Sadly, this rewrite predates the entire mandate, and thus didn't particularly take anything into account. I think this idea came from "liquid light" as a holy water meme, but I can't be sure.

This thread gives me brain cancer 'tier 220  / tier 65 - 75' what the **** is wrong with lotc. When did we ******* turn magic into a science that power fantasy folks could min max so their minecraft doll would be the coolest ever. I really like that players are finally losing events. Thats a really fresh change because it might force some people to rp some consequences and negative ones at that. However if we're going to look at this realistically 90% of those who were involved in the event or who died won't rp any consequences. A 100 foot tall Tree god literally just killed half the world and blew up a city. Everyone who was there should have some serious trauma as a result.

You see all these clear 'protag syndrome' folks puttering about in the comments reeing about how tired they are with the event. Because their precious minecraft roleplay doll can't instantly be successful at something and needs to actually go and solve problems through rp by doing **** like destroying the souls trees. its a good step forward and we need more of it.

Can't destroy Soultrees when 1) There's no one to RP them, and 2) You're not allowed to. The entire eventline is built from the ground-up for mages, fam. Druids, really, but they're still mages of a sort. Whining about mages and magic isn't going to fix anything.

To be honest, the amount of magical Energy being used in this recent battle against the Prince was absurd. This includes the one shot PK that happed to Arzota.

Demigods can still be killed, regardless of it having divine protection, but Aesopian over extended such protection by merely shrugging off at least two beams of powerful magical Energy when one hit him and hurting a vital organ. Hell, he should have died and ending the Prince's story right there and then Arzota would not have died due to the one shot PK.

I'd argue PKing a demigod is worth a PK on yourself, but that's just me. You're still very correct.

  12. 4 minutes ago, TheDragonsRoost said:

I do not think so. No descendant can go past t5 in any school of magic (except Shade) and this tier of spellwork, I was nearly about to flip out in fury.

Druids can commune together to increase the power of their spells by combining their tiers. September is the equivalent of 44 t5 druids in just himself.

    5 minutes ago, PosidonX7 said:

I believe that was just the September Prince's power level. I don't think it reflected the number of druids present.

You're correct. It's more how rediculously absurd it is. The fact power level is even being discussed leads me to believe we're just waiting for Goku at this point, since September seems to get a rediculous powerboost each warclaim.

    3 minutes ago, GrimReaper98 said:

    "Tier 65-75".

it's a ******* demigod people shouldn't be able to even scratch it let alone blow it up with magic. Especially if your back up is 10 emotes of magical charging between a group.  This should be a hard look towards the magic system and how much of a power creep it unironically encourages.

Aesopian set up a system and its severely flawed, but it's only more flawed because the mentality of "stack Ur magics to kill everything".

'Member Setherien? We either have demigods that require a protag guild and macguffin to destroy them, or we destroy them as players. Right now we're waiting on the Darkseed, the weapon that'll nuke September in one shot. A weapon CONVENIENTLY hidden behind the Vaeyl Order's darkway until the ET deem the time right to turn on the portal to it. Swing and a miss.

  13. Just now, PosidonX7 said:

This wasn't one mage or creature charging up with 10 emotes. This was 13-15 tier 5 mages/creatures charging up 10 emotes. This means 13-15 mages/creatures at their maximum power. That means it is a Tier 65-75 spell attack.

Don't forget how Aesop opened up the entire warclaim with a "tier 220 druidic spell." That's over 40 t5s at once. Do the druids even /have/ that many t5s?

  14. Just now, TheDragonsRoost said:

@The TemplarYou do agree with me that the September Prince would have been completely destroyed in the last event?

Without any doubt whatsoever, yeah. We /pierced his lung./ Nevermind that if he hadn't ignored the clerical death ray, he'd have had a /shattered knee/ and been unable to stand up. the eventline should've ended RIGHT THERE!
