It is acting as an imaginary character, usually with a rich storyline, in a game. In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is using information that your character is not supposed to know yet. In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting is basically breaking the limits and rules of which 'emotes' your character can use- for example, /me blows up the world is power-emoting, because your character obviously does not have the power to blow up the world. In-Character Details Character Name: Nashgti Character Race: Half-Orc, Half-Human Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Nashgti is the son of an orc who was bewitched by a mischievous sorcerer to fall in love with Nashgti's human mother while she was walking along the road to Arethor to sell some farm goods to the city-dwellers. His mother, Elka, was tricked as well, and she believed the orc was a handsome prince from a distant kingdom. The orc offered Elka his hand in marriage, and soon the happy couple were married, and they moved to a charming cottage in the woods, near Elka's home village. However, upon Nashgti's birth, the love-spell wore off, and his parents saw their true nature. The orc ran off in shame, never to be seen again. Elka was driven mad with sorrow, and she threw her newborn son into the street, for she could not bear to have a son who was a monster. Nashgti grew up alone, raised by neither orc nor man, fighting for survival as a highway robber. Nashgti is extremely ashamed and resentful of this unworthy heritage. He blames his mother for his miserable childhood, and would like nothing better to wipe out the entire human race.
However, Nashgti has also been rejected by the orcish community. He is clanless, and without a friend in the world. Rather than hate the orcs as he hates all humans, however, Nashgti admires the orcs and secretly longs live their life in a clan. For the moment, this is merely a dream. Nashgti remains a highway robber and a thief, devoting his time and energy to ruining the lives of his mother's people. A ruthless assassin, Nashgti trusts no one, and no one is his master.
As for his physical features, Nashgti bears some resemblance to both orc and man. He is fairly short and scrawny as far as orcs go (about six feet five inches), but do not be mistaken. Years of survival in the harsh world have toughened him into a fear-inducing foe. His hair is blonde, the color of his mother's, but Nashgti dyes it a deep purple-blue shade. This, combined with his electric blue eyes (again inherited from his human mother), has earned Nashgti the nickname 'The Blue Orc.' He is proud of this title and is known for going to battle bare from the waist up- with his stomach painted blue! What are your characters ambitions?: Nashgti has two goals- both of them very unlikely of being accomplished, a fact which he is well aware of. He hates all humans and wants to eradicate their race off the face of Asulon. Also, Nashgti dreams of one day joining an orc clan. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: I am putting a lot of time and effort into my skin, so it is not finished yet. However, here is brief description of what it will look like. It shows Nashgti in his traditional battle gear: Wild blue hair, fierce eyes, and stumpy curly tusks on his head. His powerful chest and potbellied stomach painted blue, a ragged chainmail tunic hanging around his waist, and his huge feet and clawed toes covered with thick leather sandals. Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: Nashgti is a loner, accepting help from no one, and offering no help in return. Despite his cold, hard attitude and hatred of humans, Nashgti is soft at heart, and has an unusual fondness for dwarves. He respects their culture and knowledge, and admires their love of caves, as well as their fortitude. Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? Nashgti has no love of dwarves- though he is more inclined to favor them than elves or humans. Also, the dwarf seems to be too poor to have anything worth stealing. So Nashgti decides instead to find out what sort of man this vendor is. Perhaps he is a pickpocket, but the dwarf may also be looking only for an honest living. If the former is true, Nashgti will try to make a deal with the dwarf- a partnership in petty crime! The dwarf will pick the pockets of people in the city, while Nashgti will rob travelers on the highway into the city. Then, they can split their earnings every day. If, on the other hand, he wants only to sell his wares, the dwarf may still be of use to Nashgti. Maybe he can convince the dwarf to introduce Nashgti to his regular customers- those who buy goods from a dwarf may be more inclined to revolt against humans than those who frequent the shops of humans! Then again, perhaps Nashgti may even purchase some goods. It is always better to support and encourage foreign merchants than their human counterparts. And it would be nice to buy some new shoes, his old ones have holes in the toes and are nearly worn to shreds.
Nashgti (Me): Hello, sir! May I inquire, what sort of goods do you sell?
(The Dwarf is wary of selling things to those of orcish lineage, but he needs the money and this fellow seems friendly as far as orcs go.)
Dwarf: Leather! Leather jackets, vests, chestplates, slippers! Though perhaps not the finest brands, these goods will survive through thick and thin, and they will not wear out easily!
N: I see there is great quality in these items! What be your price?
D: Only three minas, or maybe something worth three minas. I cannot afford anything lower, for such a price would cost me.
N: Are those sandals I see there, in your arms? Are they well made, and fit for constant journeying?
D: My dear sir, they are the very prince of my wares! None are made finer than these, for they are made by the best shoemakers in all of Arethor, and are very light and durable.
(Nashgti can see the poverty of the dwarf, and knows the quality of the shoes is not the best. However, he feels pity and searches his pockets for some minas. Better to buy from this poor dwarf than some arrogant man!)
N: Here you are- three minas. But let me try on the sandals before I purchase them!
D: I am sure they will fit perfectly. They look about your size, but go ahead and see how they feel.
(Nashgti puts on the sandals and walks for a few paces. Perhaps the dwarf is right; they are surprisingly comfortable.)
N: They are excellent sir, thank you!
D: Tis a pleasure to serve you! You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?
Of all the races in the world, dwarves and orcs are the most favored by Nashgti, and it is difficult to decide whether to aid the dwarf or let him be threatened. However, Nashgti is troubled by this orc, for he is huge and very strong. Not wanting to have his reputation as reigning champion of highway robbers be toppled by the orc, Nashgti decides to save the dwarf. Then, once the large orc is dead or driven away, Nashgti can even rob the dwarf himself if he wants!
(Nashgti takes advantage of the fact the orc is completely distracted by the cowering dwarf, and swiftly sneaks up behind the orc in silence. Then, without a single word, Nashgti brings his mighty blade down upon the neck of his enemy. Good fortune is not with him, however, for the strike is deflected by a strong iron collar around the neck of the orc!)
Orc: Aaaarrrrgggghhh! Who would sneak up behind me! Only cowards attack from the back! Urrrghh!
Nashgti: I am Nashgti, the Blue Orc, king of the Oren Road! How dare you challenge my dominance!
(The orc slowly turns his discolored face around to meet Nashgti in combat.)
Orc: And I am Khargh the Mighty, who will crush you!
(A quick exchange of swordplay ensues. Nashgti, being smaller but faster than his opponent, jabs his blade around the wide parries of the angry orc. Meanwhile the powerful, but slow, attacks of the orc are easily warded off. Eventually, Nashgti finds a ***** in the armor of Khargh and stabs him in the heart.)
N: Yes! Victory is mine! Though I sorrow in slaying one of my fellow orcs.
(Nashgti hangs his head, before looking up again to search for the dwarf)
N: Dwarf! Dwarf! Where are you? I have just saved your life, all is safe now.
(The dwarf has had enough with orcs, and slinks off into the darkness.) Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: Nashgti hates men and enjoys seeing them suffer. His choice is obvious: take the money and run! Maybe if it had been an orc, or even dwarf, Nashgti would act differently.
Nashgti: Fool! Now your cane is broken, on the ground, and your money lies in the dust!Old Man: Please! I am old, and no longer can I rightfully support myself upon two legs. Could you help me, please?
(Nashgti lets out a cruel laugh.)
N: Never! Every day I yearn for a chance to take revenge against my mother's people!
(Nashgti bends down and scoops up the Minas off the ground.)
O: No! Have mercy, orc!
(Nashgti strolls leisurely down the road away from the poor man, without even looking back.)
