  1. *There passes rumors amongst the small folk that a lone Southeron has been wandering Oren of late, slaying monsters in the night. Apparently, he has also begun harvesting laden wheat, replanting, then baking bread for himself in public ovens. He dresses in white, his head is wrapped in a red-checkered scarf, and his coin-pouch looks rather light. He has asked a few farmers if they know if the Imperial Guard is looking for men.*
  2. Out-Of-Character Details Minecraft Account Name: Zivbop How old are you?: 25 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I currently live in the Philippines, as I recently finished service with the United States Peace Corps. I will remain in the country for a few more months as I work on getting a spouse VISA for my wife. Do you have a good grip on English grammar and the English language?: Yes. Though it’s the colonial variety. Have you had any previous experience in roleplaying?: Yes. I have nearly a decade of online roleplaying experience. I began in a Neverwinter Nights persistent world called Brynsaar, and then in various RP related guilds in popular MMO type games- World of Warcraft mainly (there were some good guilds if you looked). I am experienced with the need to create a character, write an application, and then meld into an already established online community. Have you read and understood and agree to the rules?: Yes How did you hear about the Lord of the Craft?: Top 100 site. Link any previous applications you have made to the Lord of the Craft: None. Have you posted this application on Minecraft Forum? If not, post it here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-the-lord-of-the-craft-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r-100-unique-gameplay/! : I’ll get to that shortly after this posting. Definitions In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying,in this medium, is improvised creative writing authored by multiple people each responsible for an individual character. Each participant is responsible for giving life to a character, while granting his/her fellows the room and opportunity to do the same with theirs. In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Metagaming is the act of using game mechanics or your personal knowledge to help your character “win” in the world. It’s allowing your character to break-the-forth-wall and advance his/her goals with abilities and information not actually available to them. For example: it’s like if Hamlet jumped into the audience, grabbed a pistol from someone in the front row, jumped back on the stage and shot his Uncle- thereby “winning” the play. In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting usually involves one player forcing actions on another player with action text. It is much like one puppeteer reaching over and twiddling the strings of another person’s marionette. Other forms include giving your character extra powers or the benefit of amazing luck through childish ‘one-upmanship.’ In-Character Details Character Name:Emil Character Race:Southron Character biography:color] Emil was raised near the northern verge of the desert. His father was a shepherd, and his mother a fletcher, providing her husband the arrows to shoot the wolves which threatened the flock. So he was raised to understand sustenance existence, and the need to defend what was yours, And though a child, Emil was content. Then- the orcs came. They were fascinating. Smelly, strong... seemingly stupid but capable of haggling a competitive price for wool from his miser father.. As Emil ate the beef traded by the orcs that night, he knew there was much more to the world than his own home, and he decided he wanted to see it all. But his departure the following morning proved unsuccessful. After his father dragged him back home, his mother’s tears forced Emil to give an oath to remain home till his siblings were grown. So the years near the desert passed. Emil grew able with the bow, comfortable with the ways of both desert and plain, and acquainted with the sword. When he turned 23, his brothers were finally old enough to help his parents, and so Emil’s great adventure could finally begin. What are your characters ambitions?: At this time, Emil simply wishes to explore the world and find adventure where he can. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: http://dailyfrivolity.blogspot.com/2013/01/blog-post.html (also attached) Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: I’m new to the server, so I thought an open character would be best. I don’t know the world or the community, so Emil is someone who can develop as I play and find things fun. Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? Dwarves never came around my place when I was a boy, but they look just like how they are described in the storybooks. Short with a big beard. Out of curiosity, I wander over to take a look at the dwarf as much as see what he was selling. The dwarf smells heavily of stale ale, and he seems to be selling a selection of trinkets and tools. “‘Allo, lad. Can ah interest ye with fine dwarven craftsmanship?” His eyes narrow in sudden interest. “Where yeh from, anyway? That’s an interesting head-wrap yeh got there.” My hand drifts to my keffiyeh. “Many people wear these in the south. It helps against the sun and sand.” The dwarf grunts. “Ain’t much sand in these parts, though.” “True. But it works well on dust, and- and the smell of the city.” The dwarf grunts. “Human cities do reek, ah’ll give ya that. No offense, lad. But yer people don’t know much about plumbing.” “Plumbing?” The dwarf snorted and waved a hand. “That’s what ah mean. Anyway, look kid- Yeh here ta buy anything?” I shake my head, shame reddening my skin under my scarf. “No, I’m not looking to buy.” I don’t have any money. The dwarf seemed to sense it. “Well, if money is what yeh need, yeh came to the right place. That’s why ah came to this city, me’self. Find some work, or sell some goods. It’s what we all do.” It sounded like good advice. You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? I don’t know that dwarf, and I sure don’t know that orc. I’m not going to get involved with whatever this is. The side of the road is a bit rough and brushy, but a bit of discomfort is better than getting between a pair of axes. My keffiyeh keeps catching on the branches, so I’m forced to pull it off. The northern air feels brisk on my skin. Before long, the sounds of argument turn to roars of battle, but those begin fading as I move further and further away. Once the silence of the night falls again, I’ll get back on the road. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenseless man. What does your character do?: I offer my hand to the old man. “Can I help you, sir?” “Bugger-off, southron!” the man grumbles, “I can take care of myself.” Stung, I withdraw my hand and watch the old fool gather his coins and get to his feet. Reminds me a little of my grandfather. Old bastard would never admit he needed help. I guess people in the north are a lot like people in the south. Not all parts of adventure could be magical, I suppose.
