Minecraft Account Name: Dalix_Khan How old are you?: 35 Time-Zone: Eastern (-5) Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: Many including in online games and pen and paper. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Well, for me roleplaying is when you create (or are assigned) with a role or a character that is not entirely or completely you and that you have to immerse yourself in a story that is not your real life thing. Role playing can go from playing an elf in a videogame and trying to act as one in accordance with the Lore OR could also mean to play Pirates with your kids on Sunday morning! Meta-gaming: This is taking outside of the world you are supposed to be immersed in information or details and using it as such. An example would be seeing something in a forum (some details about a House grievance toward some other House as an example) and bring it in-game even if your in-game character should not have that knowledge Power-emoting: This is basically creating something or someone that has an ability or history that takes out any possibility of counter reaction to it. Some people describes it as creating a GOD that kills everyone they choose, but I personally see it more at different level. Example : In my biography, if I decide that I'm cousin to another character that is already in play, and that I killed his/her father and therefore there is hatred between our two characters, I'm power-emoting as the other person doesn't have anything to say about that. In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Dalix Khan Current Age: 20 (approx - detailed below why) Sub-race (if any): None Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Before I talk about myself, I need to explain or situate my family. My father and mother were two commoners from the city of Arethor. Married they decided to establish business in the North, in the forest to the border of Greywise Montains. My father and mother were attached to their home city but thought they could better help to the reconstruction of the ruined city by providing woods, therefore they started a mill. Born as the only son of Rostof Khan and Merinda Khan (borne Salta), my mother died giving birth and my father took it really bad. Blaming me for the loss of his loved wife, I was raised in difficult and non-pleasant childhood. I was homeschooled to the minimum, what I have learned was just by mimicking my father. As soon I was old enough to work or help with the family business, I was expected to do so. My father never really showed any kind of attachment to me and as far as I can remember, I always wanted to leave home as soon as possible. Being born far away of Arethor, I cannot say that I would consider myself as a citizen of this city; therefore I'm more of a free citizen that has to make his mark to be recognize. So I did leave home when I could, around 15 or 16 years old... as I don't know exactly how old I am. I left with nothing, no money nor family house to come back if everything failed. My father talked to me a bit about an uncle (from my mother side) that lived closest to the city so I first aimed to get there. His name was Ezekior, or something like that. I had no clue if the old man would even know who I was, but I needed to get out of that house. The travel took me 4 days and I have learnt more about survival in those 4 days then any days before that! I was hunting where I could, eating roots not to starve and to be able to move forward. I got out of Greywise Mountain area and headed south, reaching the outskirt of the city of Arethor, in hope that somebody would know Ezekior. After a couple of days, I couldn't find him and I lost hope. I could not turn back. I have survived 4 days in the wilderness; I can be on my own! Having lived in the woods and mountain for all my childhood, I could really appreciate the city with its Cathedral, library and Palace. But I'm still poor, unknown and with little material but a lot of desire to live a better live. Ambitions for the Future: I want to be a good father and have a family, for once in my life. Before doing so, I need to establish myself, make a good business and then, when everything will be stable and secured, maybe I will find love. Personality:I'm quiet. Being raised with no social interaction nor loves didn't help me when it comes to take charge or be confident. I'm a follower but the sight of the city, its "grandeur" led me to believe that there is hope for a better life. Skills: The only skills that I have were developed by looking at my father and working at the mill. Therefore I'm good with an axe. Also, I know the basic of trading. Finally, having left home in my early age, I have developed survival skills. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin):Tall, muscular, dark hair, pale skin. Find enclosed a "picture" Any other details you wish to share about your character:Not at this point Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Is he really up to no good? I "was" that man in the past, lurking around, trying to survive, who am I to report him? I will look away and mind my own business, which saved my neck many times in the past. But, there is another options open to me, maybe this is my chance! I mean if he is a theif or a vilain and that I follow him, I could turn out being rich by either blackmailing him or seeking reward afterward. Risk should pay off, I will keep quiet but I will see what he is up to! After following him for a while, I realize that he is not a thief, but seems more like... a spy? Well, at least that is what I get from the attention he pays to details like the guards path and what door is unlock or not....wait.... uh oh... Dark-clothed figure : You should not stalk me like that kiddo Dalix Khan : Sorry sir, I didn't mean to, I wasn't stalk.... Dark-clothed figure : Now get out of here before I silence you forever and I better not see you around me anymore Dalix Khan : <gulp> I moved away, as fast as possible, not looking back. Maybe I should tell the guard... too late for that. I could have been a hero....but I could have been killed too! Let's just get back to my business, I should learn from this! 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron long sword, how do you react? Answer: Poor old man. It is sad to see that he got problems big enough to have two heavily bandits bullying him. Well, it is a good thing that I can observe from that oak forest nearby and have a clear view to everything that will happen in the next minutes. I will be patient; maybe the bandits will forget something valuable that I can collect afterward. Or even better, maybe the old man would pay me to get rid of them? Considering that there is opportunity at every corner, I will patiently wait and see and then make my move, but what are they talking about? Maybe if I sneak up closer... Old man : You will not take my cottage! Bandit Leader : Your cottage?! We don't want your cottage ol' fool! We are here to collect what you owe us Old man : What collection? My butterfly collection? and my cottage? Over my dead body! Bandit : Boss, should I kill him? Bandit Leader : Hold on, Huker wants him alive, if he dies, we still won't know where he hides the "book" Bandit : WILL YOU TELL US WHERE THE BOOK IS OL' MAN! Old Man : The cook? I have no clue where you could find the cook, what cook? I cook my own food... Bandit : Please boss, let me kill him.... A book? Hmmm... maybe there is more to it than only that old man. I will stick around and see about that book... 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: Haggling, my father was a master to this. First off, you need deception. I would start looking interested in something in particular, for the sake of it, let say 5 block of coals. Always start low... if 5 block of coals decent price would be 25 minas, then I should offer 15 minas. Obviously, the merchant would probably refuse at first but we could settle the transaction around 4 minas per bloc, so 20 minas total. That is decent saving as you managed to save 1 mina from a 5 minas value item. Then you apply the same deal to a much more expensive item, like Iron ore that goes around 25 minas these days. 1/5 of this price is 20 minas, but, you apply the same start low to achieve middle price BELOW that 20 minas. So let's start at 13 minas. The merchant will probably say no and counter with 23 minas. Ok, let's try at 15 minas. No way could the merchant accept but maybe he would go down at 20 minas. Well from this point on, I will be very successful no matter what the final price will be. This of course is done in a very long process involving discussion about the region, the weather, the merchant's family and some gossip from the town. Merchant : Hello dear sir, have a look at my wares, best price around guaranteed! Dalix Khan : Guaranteed? you seem quite certain to make such a promise? Merchant : Well dear Sir, that is more a figure of speech, you see what I meant was that... Dalix Khan : Ok, so it is not guaranteed? Merchant : Sir, what do you need I will have a great price for you Dalix Khan : Well I was not looking for anything in particular, but since you are promising to get me the best price ever... how much is your coals? I have seen it at 5 minas around here, quite expensive heh? Merchant : errr... Dalix Khan : Well of course you could do better, what about 3 minas per block? Merchant ; But sir, this is prime coal! Dalix Khan : Of course this is... could you explain me what is the difference between prime and normal coal? Does one burns better? Merchant : well errr... Dalix Khan : Oh never mind, I will thrust your word, so we are good for 3 minas per block? Merchant : What about 4 minas dear sir? Dalix Khan : Of course, for prime coal that is a good price, sold! Merchant : Thank you sir Dalix Khan : Now, what about that "prime" iron? Merchant : Sir, this is the best iron that you could find on the market! Dalix Khan : Interesting... as the other merchant in the city said the same, does it comes from the same mine? Merchant : Sir, I couldn't say, emmm maybe, probably because ... Dalix Khan : That is find my friend, so would you make it at the same deal, 13 minas? Merchant : Sir, nobody could sell that low! Dalix Khan : Well I thought you might as we did good business so far, but I get your point, 15 minas would be a better start up point? Merchant : well it is better sir but I don't think that would be sufficient, what about 25 minas? Dalix Khan : Hmmm not so sure my friend, 20 minas is already expensive for Iron Ore these days, I could settle for 18 per block with the promises of buying several? Merchant : Of course sir, if you are to make a bigger order, we certainly need to talk more about a better price, why don't we sit down and have some tea?
