Because a coup is a surprise attack from within. It doesn't make sense you can call in a big band of helpers from halfway across the map during a surprise attack.

What if the Coup had been planned for a long time and a large force was told or paid to provide help on the day of the event?

People don't just wake up, say to themselves "well, I'm gonna do a coup today," and grab their 15 buddies to attack their leadership.

Edit: Nevermind, you already fixed this issue - my bad.

  4. Not many people bring life to their human characters by bothering with an accent, be it laziness or just not knowing how.

    Spoiler

The cockney accent in real life comes from East London, traditionally those who are born within earshot of Bow Bells.

The cockney accent in popular culture, however, is widely used in movies and video games to portray poor, ugly or brute characters. Think of the Orcs from Lord of the Rings.

I've used this accent in Roleplay to give characters like Garman, a crusty, old, illiterate and uneducafed infantryman some more character, instead of him speaking perfect and clear English like you're reading right now.

    So let's dive in!

    Accent Difficulty: Medium-Hard

Rule 1: "I" is now "Oi"

Americans tend to emphasize letters when they say words, like the R in Artist, whereas Englishmen might sound like they're saying "Autist" when they speak the word. (It all depends on where you're from over there. Some say "Glass" while others say "Gloss" purely based on where in the U.K. they're born.)

    Spoiler

Same goes for I. When you type a word with an "I" sound in it, like "while" for example, simply write it out like "whoile." If the word makes an "I" sound but uses a Y to do it, like "Dry," use OY instead of OI.

Words like: I, Hi, Crocodile, Style, Pile, Nile, Trial, File, Dry.

All turn into: Oi, Hoi, Crocodoile, Stoyle, Poile, Noile, Troil, Foile, Droy.

Rule 2: "What" is now... "Wot"

    That's right. U wot m8.

Write What as Wot. That's all, really.

    Rule 3: No more H!

You're gonna want to drop the H in a lot of words. Pretty much every word that starts with H will be altered. The French have this similarity with their accent as well, but it sounds more deliberate than Cockney.

    Spoiler

    Replace H with a '

Words like: Hello, Hotdog, Half, Happy, Hinder, Harmony, Help, Hunt, Harp, Hang.

All turn into: 'Ello, 'Otdog, 'Alf, 'Appy, 'Inder, 'Armony, 'Elp, 'Unt, 'Arp, 'Ang.

Rule 4: "You" is now "Yew"

With an American accent, 'you' sounds like 'yoo.' There's a very slight difference at the end of the word with a cockney accent, so we represent that with the W.

    "Yew wot maite."

(If yew toiped 'maite' as 'moite', yew'd soun' Australian)

Rule 5: Lose parts of certain words

This rule is a pretty loose one, since it takes a bit of practice to nail it without sounding dumb.

Basically you want to remove the letters of certain words to emphasize the accent.

    Spoiler

Words like: After, Harmony, Tatiana, Lumberjack, Grumbling, Over

All turn into: Affer, 'Armny, Tat'yana, Lummerjack, Grummlin', O'er

Again, use this rule very loosely and not very often.

Rule 6: "ING" is now "IN'"

Pretty simple rule that I've seen done with lots of other accents out there. Doesn't have to be done all the time either.

    Spoiler

Words like: Nothing, Happening, Crapping, Trapping, Something, Dumpling.

All turn into: Nothin', 'Appenin', Crappin', Trappin', Somethin', Dumplin'.

Rule 7: Th is now F (or V/D)

Don't ask me, it's just how they say fings.

    Spoiler

Words like: Nothing, Birth, Three, Thoughtless, Another, They're, Their, Father, Mother

All turn into: Nuffin', Birf, Free, Foughtless, Anovver, Vey're (or Dey're), Veir, Fawver, Movver

    Rule 8: Don't overdo it

It's easy when typing out any accent to overdo it and look like you're speaking gibberish. Just try to avoid it.

Pro Tip: Learn some Cockney slang.

Cockneys have a very strange list of slang words that only really make sense to other cockneys.

    Spoiler

For example, if an agitated Cockney man asked "Yew 'aving a Turkish, maite?"

What he's saying is "Are you having a laugh mate?" or "do you think this is funny?"

Why? Because Turkish is short for the term Turkish Bath, which rhymes with Laugh.

So Turkish = Laugh, in short.

Why? I have no ******* idea.

A simple google search of "Cockney rhyming slang" will enlighten you on further phrases if you're truly interested.

Here's one of my favourite videos about Cockneys. Here you'll hear firsthand a whole bunch of slang, accent, and swears - so watch at your own risk.

  5. “I Florent II Jorrel with a true and contrite heart, ask for God’s forgiveness in the errors of my ways and accept the True Faith of God. I accept the real teaching on Predestination, Exalted Sucession, Horenic Exalted Supremacy and Pontifical Infallibility. With this oath I accept the orthodox views of the true Communion until the day of my death.”

  6. I don't take credit for the original design of this in Minecraft, but I had to edit it so that you don't need MC edit to actually make it.

So here's your average spinning wheel.

    BVIi77b.gif

And here's the minecraft version that I have two of in the server right now

    HF2kJDx.png

Naturally, I'd rather use a fence gate and a carpet over top as the body of the spinning wheel, but you'd have to MC Edit the levers on the sides, which is near impossible in the server as a non-staff member.

Now I was thinking this could perhaps be actually made into one of the many crafting stations in the server, but if not, It's always good to have it implemented as official lore canon.

There really isn't much to explain about it, so I'll keep this post brief.

    Hobbes & Schmick Boutique

Several fliers would be scattered around Oren advertising that Hobbes & Schmick Boutique is now looking for tailors ((Skinners))! The fliers read as follows:

If you think you have what it takes to create Axios' most fashionable and expensive clothing, fill out the application on the reverse side of this flier! What is something you have always wanted to change on the server?:
I was actually thinking about pitching the idea of a War/Politics moderator team. Warclaims and Politics in the server are extremely bland and it seems like every guild out there can just do whatever they want without reprimand. I suggest the creation of Rules of War, or a War Chivalry Code of sorts that can  be accepted as cultural lore with slight differences for each race. Every culture on the planet has its own morales and rules for how war should be dealt with, what is wrong and not, how prisoners should be treated, etc. For example, Humans and Elves might have strict codes on how wars should be fought whereas Orcs might have tribal codes or rules they follow when it comes to hacking and slashing at war. It's a fantasy-medieval world, so what I suggest should be tailored to that theme. It wouldn't make sense to be hanging people for war crimes we have nowadays that might've been accepted back then.

There's also the administrative side of war that I'd like to see. Why don't soldiers set up camps on this server? If you're at war, you're either holing up in a castle to defend or you're out in the field for months on end heading toward something to attack. I'd like to see more war camps set up. Camp RP is always good and centralized anyways.
There's quite a few other things I'd like to see different about the server. The amount of meming and trolling (especially in Oren) is almost cancerous. There should be absolutely no reason for someone to meme or troll on this server. The places I've seen this the most is in Church RP, war rallies, weddings, political meetings, and other events  where a large gathering of people is made. I personally would like to see these things more moderated and cracked down on to the point where it's stopped completely. New players shouldn't be joining the server to be introduced with ****-tier RP, cancerous memes, and ooc brought into RP for the lols.

What is something you would like to change on the game moderator team?:
As mentioned above, I'd like to see more moderation on the individuals who think it's funny to scream randomly at a wedding, move their minecraft character to sit on the altar during church RP, run around town punching people, or yell stupid ooc **** IRP during war rallies.
I'd also like to see if you guys are interested in grabbing a few staff members to focus on the political, law and war side of RP. Perhaps some lore moderators would be interested.

    What are your finest qualities?:
I don't like to toot my own horn, but I make some baller skins.
I like to edit texture packs to suit RP better. If you don't use a texture pack on an RP server, you're truly missing out - or your computer is stone-age.
When it comes to RP, I keep memes and other garbage like that to an absolute minimal. I'll throw a joke in there if things get a little heated, but RP is RP, not a place to share memes and troll.
I play characters that are just normal people, not superheroes. Everyone wants to be the 6'8" beefy superhero Northern Viking man on this server, so there's a lot of openings for everyday people.
I stay within the medieval-age religiously. If someone brings up the words 'rights' or 'freedoms' in RP, I'll usually just blurt out "wots a right?" Or "wot is voting?" "Wot is freedom of speech?". Things like that I actually consider to be metagaming to be honest.

What are your worst qualities, and how could you improve these aspects?:
I tend to swear a lot in skype or other chats, and I apologize if it offends anyone. It's really become second nature and part of my every day language. I'm good around children and when I need to be professional, so it should be an easy fix.
Sometimes I come off as uncaring or just as an ******* in general, though I'd say when it comes to being unbiased in situations then it could be considered a strength.

What members of the current staff could you look to for guidance?: Though he's a recent addition to the staff team, Spoduminister (apologies if I butchered the username) has been the member I've seen the most and from what I've seen they've set a good example. Ever is another member who I think is a great member of the team. They've both displayed professionalism and make positive contributions to the server.

Who do you not get along with on the current team?:
Nobody to my knowledge. The staff I've met have always been help good people, so there's really no disliking them at all.

How much free time do you have? Will this change in the foreseeable future?:
Nominally I'm off work every day after 16:00 or 16:30, so I have the rest of the night to play around on lotc. Things are subject to change in the future of course; only time can tell if it's for better or for worse.

Most likely Quebec French. I'm unsure exactly what the LotC equivalent of Frenchies are - I haven't touched Human culture in quite a while.
However, I'd assume they'd RP under Quebec French-ish, right?

French culture in LotC is Auverginian or some weird word like that.

And no, they bastardize the French stereotype accent :^)
