There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? It was a quiet night, Aerathorn was walking trough the streets of Arethor, the human capital. He enjoyed nights like this, helped him focus, cleared his mind, sometimes when he was but a child he would even pretend he could forsee the future in times like this, only childsplay of course. Aerathorn was in a trance kind of state, his mind wandered as gazed up upon the stars when a sudden movement in the shadows catches Aerathorn's eye, snapping him out if his trance kind of state. Aerathorn focuses his attention and stares. He sees something lurking in the shadows. Aerathorn: GUARDS! GUARDS! Emperial guardsmen rushes from all directions. The guards look at Aerathorn with confused eyes, but they soon realize whe he had called upon them in the middle of the night when they look in the direction Aerathorn is pointing. A dark-clothed figure making his way trough the shadows at an incredible pace. The guards yells at the man while breathing heavily Guards: HALT! IN THE NAME OF EMPEROR GODFREY, I COMMAND YOU TO STOP! The guards struggle to keep up with the man in their heavy and shiny armor, Aerathorn on the other hand, as a Northerner, was not a man of such taste and in his light leather gear he ran as fast as his feets could bear, jumping over barrels and other obstacles the man threw in his way untill he finally caught up. Aerathorn leaps with all his strenght and tackles the mysterious man. The assassin unsheates a dagger and reveals his murderous intent, his eyes filled with pure rage! Aerathorn grabes the blade of the dagger in his hand and scream out in pain and agony, while with his other hand he takes hold of a rock and brings it down with all his strenght. Aerathorn takes a second to see that the man is unconscious, than rolls over on his back, rips off a piece of clothing and use it as bandage. The guards comes running, breathing heavily. Guards: is he? Aerathorn: dead? no, just unconscious. Guards: Whats your name stranger? Aerathorn, Aerathorn Winterstorm, son of Argon. Guards: I will see you properly rewarded for you service! Aerathorn: I seek no reward or recognition. Guards: Than what do you seek? Aerathorn: An aid station and a mug of ale. Aerathorn says with a smile on his face. Guards: Haha! Aye, i think we can manage that, come with us! Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Aerathorn observes the situation for a while, he is a man of patience and had been taught that a hasty charge may lead to a hasty death. Aerathorn noticed that one of the bandits appeard to be the dominating one and had authority over the other. Aerathorn concluded that to solve this situation without unnecessary bloodshed, he would have to remove that authority, if he did, the other bandit would surely loose heart and flee. To kill a snake, you cut off its head, as his father had once taught him. Aerathorn picked his moment and without any sudden movements slowly approched the two bandits from behind and drew his sword slowly. Aerathorn puts his blade untop of the the shoulder of one of the bandits. Aerathorn: threatening an old man is no proof of strenght. Bandit leader: Neither is attacking a man from behind! Aerathorn: I have neither attacked you or have the desire to do so, but if you dont leave this place now, never to return I might change my mind. The bandits breathes heavily and one can almost feel the adrenalin and anger going trough their bodies. The standoff goes on for a few second before the bandit leader apperantly comes to his senses. Bandit leader: You win this round! come on you useless chunk of meat, lets go. The bandit leader barks to his companion. Aerathorn approches the old man to make sure he is alright. The old man: Oh thank you k... WATCH OUT! Aerathorn draws his sword and turns around, and in the last possible second manages to block the bandit leader's furious charge. Aerathorn quickly uses the strenght of the bandit leader's attacks against him and parry's his blade into the ground. Aerathorn runs his blade into his flesh and as sudden as the fight started, it is over. The bandit leader's lifeless corpse falls to the ground. The sight of his chief's death is too much for the remaining bandit, as he drops his axe and takes to the hills. The old man: Where did you learn to wield a sword like that? Aerathorn: My father.... The old man: Did he teach you anything about drinking ale like a proper man? Aerathorn: I'm afraid he left this world before it came to that. The old man: Than please, come inside and i'll teach you a thing or two. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Aerathorn’s iron sword was damaged in battle with the horrible undead as he wandered through the northern lands. The memories still haunt his dreams, and in the coldest of nights, he can smell the ashes his former home had been reduced to. Aerathorn, not used to the city life, stands at a distance observing the customers approaching the stall. He’s hoping to learn some insight in how a trade goes down in a place like this. Aerathorn was used to trading items or simple make what you needed from scratch, but this more advanced form of trade and currency is a new experience for him. After some time the shopkeeper takes notice to Aerathorn’s presence and observing posture. Shopkeeper: Hello there Northerner, can I interest you with something this fine morning? Aerathorn is surprised that the shopkeeper guessed he was from the north. Aerathorn: *clears his throat* Yes, uhmm, my sword is in need of repair and I was wondering if you could help me in that regard? The shopkeeper looks at Aerathorn with confused eyes. Shopkeeper: First time here I take it? Aerathorn: What gave me away? Aerathorn says with a smile on his face. Shopkeeper: Well if you were you would know that I’m not a blacksmith and I’m afraid I’m unable to help with you damaged sword. Besides, I thought you Northerner’s were used to crafting and fixing things yourselves? Aerathorn: Aye, but I’m afraid the art of blacksmithing has eluded me. Shopkeeper: How come? Didn’t your father teach you? The shopkeeper jokes. Aerathorn becomes silent, staring at the shopkeeper for a few seconds, than at the ground before he says. Aerathorn: If you can’t help me, can you point me in the direction of someone who can? Shopkeeper: Now, now, I may be unable to repair your current sword, but I am willing to offer you this at the right price. The shopkeeper opens a chest behind his stall and pulls out a steel sword. Shopkeeper: Now, this is straight from the best blacksmith in town! His steel is legendary and durable! So what do you say? For 120 minas this fine piece of craftsmanship can be yours to wield! Aerathorn takes a good look at the sword the shopkeeper now held before him and though he doesn’t have much money to spend, he is intrigued and starts to discreetly go through his pockets hoping to find enough. Aerathorn counts silently, ….103, 104, 105, and 106. He curses as he realizes he doesn’t have enough. Aerathorn: It seems that your price reaches higher than my pockets, how about 70 minas? Shopkeeper: hmm, I will be willing to lower it to 100 minas. Aerathorn: I guess the blacksmith will be willing to repair my current sword for lower price than that, so if you point me in the right direc. The shopkeeper interrupts Aerathorn. Shopkeeper: That won’t be necessary, to be a newcomer to here in the capital you sure seem to have adapted merchant trade quickly. How about 80 minas? My best and final offer. Aerathorn collects 80 minas in his hand and gives it to the shopkeeper Aerathorn: pleasure doing business with you! Shopkeeper: May it serve you well on your travels and yet hopefully, you won’t need it. --------------------------------------------- I tried to improve the areas you mentioned in your comments on my last application. I hope this is good enough to meet your standards and i must say I'm impressed with the amount of work that has been implemented in this Lore.

There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? I immediately contact the guards and tell them there is a mysterious figure around the Emperor’s palace. As I my father taught me how to wield a sword and moral codes, I draw my sword but I don’t attack the person straight away. This is a job for the guards but I will make myself available if my assistance is needed. I draw my sword in the name of the justice and moral my father taught me and give the bandits a warning to stand down, leave this place to never return! If they don’t comply I will strike down with strength and fury which like they have never seen, to free the man from the shackles of fear and oppression. 3.
