  1. The Boogie Man/ Zelak

Here we go, keeping it short as I forgot the most.

    1. How long have you been playing your character, and how have they changed and developed RPly?

    Spoiler

The Boogie Man was created back in Anthos, where he started off as a simple annoying guy wearing a costume, making fun of people till they started to chase after him. After a while of joking around, he got corrupted by the Antagonists in Anthos (The Black Scourge) and turned into a grotesque monster with multiple eyes, kind of a disgusting thing to look at, that's why he was wearing a full body robe (Something like Salvatore Moreau from Resident Evil 8), yet it pretty much caused him to grow into a evil oriented character, finding pleasure in experimenting with people and other unspeakable spooky things, thanks to being around other bad guys. After a while of serving under one evil being, he ultimately broke free from it and the things he had done changed him into a twisted man, wearing a scarecrow suit.

He slowly started to develop into becoming a villain himself, as he started to build up his own lair around the dwarven homelands under a town called Vaerhaven. Without any magical abilities, he still kidnapped or broke into other people's homes, doing stupid non-sense rituals that had no purpose in the eyes of his victims. He constantly was wearing his iconic Scarecrow outfit, turning it into a second skin while trying to spook anyone trying to make fun of him as he was making fun of them in return. As a villain he needed a goal to fulfill, so he just moved along to find the best entertainment imaginable! But obviously the best fun someone like him would have, was ultimate destruction or apocalypse of something else, as that would just be the best show ever. He destroyed Malinor and the Cloud Temple of Anthos because of fun, that was entertaining for him, just for laughs.

After a while of creeping other people out, mostly the Druids as he loved to annoy them the most, he wanted to get more magical and forced a mage to teach him electromancy, because he thought it would be amazing to shoot lazors out of his fingers. Turned out that magic was too much work, so he rarely used it, mostly for show or distraction. It was in Anthos, where he started to create Soul Puppetry, finally a magic that would make someone, who pretty much looked like a puppet himself, more of a creep.

The creation of soul puppetry turned the Boogie Man into a pretty good threat, as his curses have been the most disturbing to deal with among the clerical orders and other nations. Even other dark art users never liked him because of his ideas mindset, kind of sad to be the least favorite among other spooky folk as they were spooked by him. In Athera was his highest streak for cursing people with weird things, finally earning the attention he wanted as pretty much everyone wanted to hunt him down and kill the freak. Yet his best trick was, that nobody ever knew, how he looked like underneath his suit (even oocly) and so it was easy to hide by just removing his own suit and walking among the "normal" people.

Turned out it worked very well as rarely, anyone ever had the chance to get to him. With puppetry in his hands, he had a good business model and started to make "money" out of cursing others. But of course he was the creep and asked for souls in return for a curse, ultimately making a deal with Boogie turned out to be very stupid as he always had the upper hand in the deal making. He spooked about with other classic villains, making good friends with Knox as he was a pumpkin lord and Boogie the scarecrow, was a good relationship.

Boogie turned into a real villain, fear'd and hated by many, very successfull with his spooky stuff and holding his own secrets. But it turned out, that being a villain so successfull was boring after a while and he questioned himself what would come after he did everything, he ever wanted. He removed his suit and tried to live a "normal" life for fun, but it was a challenge for him as he always wanted to cause harm or creep people out.

At last he accepted his "real self" being a dark elf and named himself "Zelak", a name he chose from the Black Tongue meaning "Monster", very fitting and a easter egg on purpose. Yet trying to live "normal" was no easy task and so he used Zelak to lure people into experimenting on them, of course it worked out well as he just viewed everyone to be puppets on strings, showing no empathy and just acting along the way.

Some maps later (No idea the names, forgot and don't care) his Zelak self overtime earned the upper hand as villainy became boring, since he pretty much did everything he could as a bad guy.

At the end till today, he developed from a soulless puppet monster, being a creep and weirdo who made fun of death  into a monster with a soul, being a weirdo who makes fun of the death with a slight hint of empathy! He got rid of the Boogie Man role and "killed" him off for good, moving around as Zelak from now on (Much spook).

    2. What are some small nuances or details in your character that might not be so obvious to other players upon interaction? For example, I often use the hand movements of my snow elf to express certain metaphors or his state of mind.

Zelak just like the Boogie Man has a VERY high interest in playing games, especially if a high bet is on the line. He can't really resist in playing a game and tries everything to win, he hates to lose, such a bad loser.

    3. Does / Did your character have a strong bond with another character that you found to be memorable based on what it was founded on? (Characters who had a brotherly relationship, romantic, rivalry, etc.)

So many people over the time with Boogie, some were good and others were bad. Can't remember most.

    Spoiler

His first lover caused his mind to go even more into the spook side of the force, because villains stay villains.

While developing Soul Puppetry, he had a companion, another fellow Puppeteer, who helped in creating the dark art in his own way.

Rosso from Vaerhaven, turned from a foe into a good friend, yet also assisted in growing Boogie's villainous side.

Kardel Irongut, was a dwarven Alchemist and became good friends with Boogie Man as both had a large interest in alchemy and the strange side of it.

Gi'Garun the Pine Druid, turned out to be the Boogie Man's nemesis. Boogie had high respect for the Druid and the Druid respected Boogie, always clashing against each other yet made Boogie respect Nature a bit.

Knox was one of his best villain buddies, he helped him in actually liking Halflings.

Damien Menrow was his first husband, accepting him as being the Boogie Man and Zelak and was the first person, like ever, who told him of how a large of a monster he truly is, finally making Zelak to feel empathy for somebody.

Taynuel Xayarath was his second husband, ironic that he was another Druid (Damien turned one much later but still) also assisted into helping his mind to be less of a broken bottle.

    4. What's the most badass thing your character has ever done?

    • Destroying Malinor with a tree
    • Turning the Cloud Temple into a spooky mine opperation
    • Creating Soul Puppetry
    • Manipulating another villain to destroy a small faction
    • Manipulating a Nationleader from the back in order to get easy access into the capital
    • Manipulating multiple people to do his daily unlikable tasks
    • Traumatizing many people, ruining their lives or causing them to develop into strong individuals counts as Badass?
    • Summoning a Apparition in order to force it to attack multiple cities for fun
    • Being kidnapped by Orcs as a slave, just to force them to be his slaves
    • Building a large moving castle, that ran off
    • Making fun of a Antagonist with bad jokes about his/ her mom

    5. Character Art?

    I don't have those anymore

    6. Anything else you'd like to talk about regarding your character?

Playing as the villain was very fun, turning into a super villain to give other players even more enjoyment was even more fun. Will I ever play the Boogie Man again? Not at all. I don't even play often and am very casual around. I tried to get back into villainy, but currently, it's not as enjoying as it was back when there were many other named villains around, giving players self-made events.

I just wish for villains to be classy again, less of a "hurr hurr, I'm evil!" and more where they take part into developing other characters story, because villains are the greatest foe to overcome in order to grow.

    Music for comfortable reading stuff

    Zelak's last tea party

Zelak moved towards the steps and up the large stage of the theatre. A live performance was choosen by the people and so he had to act out! „What's the difference between a pineapple and a apple? The one has needles while the other is smooth as skin!“ The crowd cheered at the bad joke, laughing out in delight as he told multiple bad jokes and puns everybody loved.

The night was long, yet the light always was spot on, on him alone. „You believe, it's time to get off the stage? The people are tired of the performance already.“ Said the shadow man with the top hat, the next performer in this show. Zelak struggled as he tried to remember any more jokes he could tell to make the people love him more, yet nothing came up and so he had to get off the stage. At the side, he had to look at the shadow man with the top hat doing his performance. The dark elf was confused, that he told jokes and the crowd laughed louder than they did with his own. The night was even longer with the shadow man's performance.

After the night returned, the last joke was spoken and a balloon flew up to the ceiling of the theatre. Zelak looked up at the balloon before he saw the crowd removing themself. The dark elf followed after them and out of the building. A few peacocks crawled up onto a tree and it suddenly turned into a rainbow as Zelak was outside. „It's not like I tried.“ Said a shadow man's voice and Zelak had to look after him, following him before he found himself back inside a cold village. Nobody was around and the buildings were destroyed, yet one door remained open and the dark elf moved inside.

The warmth of candles and the smell of freshly made black and green tea filled the air as Zelak found himself inside a dining room and a large table with colorful pillows on each seat, filling them up with the fluffness of the pillows. He took a seat at the end of the table, grabbing a cup of green tea as he took a sip, grabbing a muffin and a cupcake to eat. „Don't be stupid about that whole thing, it's not like I have enough fingers.“ Said the shadow man with the top hat, who took a seat next to the dark elf. „Why don't you just eat both at the same time? It's not like they taste like chocolate. They don't change“ Said a shadow person on one of the many seats in a musical voice.

Zelak ate the cupcake, but it turned into a potato before he could do anything else. „Don't you love the air? Well, I do as I am a fish!“ Said a huge fish, sitting on a seat, breathing air like a maniac. A small box landed on Zelak's plate, a small gift in purple, no yellow, no blue...in so many colors at the same time. He opened the gift and was excited to find, that nothing was inside. „Happy Birthday!“ Said the potato, he didn't want to eat.

While Zelak was all night inside the dining room, having a tea party, the spotlight was always set on him. „I can't see anything.“ Said the dark elf to himself with a grand smile and without fear. The darkness was visible, but a small light at the corner of his eye opened something for him and he laughed.

He opened his eyes in the night „It's how it is, what a wonderful sunlight!“.

    Spoiler

Well that was different and probably very weird! I don't like playing anymore on this server and one of my oldest running characters just moved out, whatever happened to him is a open book and I won't tell the fate. Maybe some day, I get motivated again. That might be unlikely.

I loved and enjoyed roleplaying a lot on lotc, but things changed so much, that I personally have lost the drive. Being a villain and one of the longest running Event Team members, providing many events for players was always a joy. I'll stick about sometimes, since I don't view lotc as something that is part of my life, but just another game I play that lost my interest. If any old goons just want to chit chat with me, discord is open, I always like to talk and exchange stupid stuff.

    Thanks and have fun

  4. Spoiler

    Music for Athmosphere!

Long ago, in a distant land, Anthos to be specific, there was a Scarecrow man named the Boogie Man. He first appeard in a random city in human lands, annoying the citizens and cursing badly about. He was just a simple annoyance but over the years, turned into a real villainous figure over the lands of Anthos and beyond! Calling people bad names, cursing them with unspeakable terror! The Boogie Man was just a real funny guy, who loved to be as villainous as possible.

    Boogie.png.04d178a15232d85d1968140d62e27d50.png

The lands crumbled, new appeard out of nowhere. The Boogie Man always wanted to achieve the ultimate entertainment imaginable and yet, at the end of all things...He did it!

The Scarecrow Overlord of Darkness and Destruction as he called himself, because no one thought about giving him a good title, was at the end bored of the world around him. Nothing was clear for his sightless gaze, he always thought about something new, how he would achieve his goal? Yet it took him some....hundred of years or something, that the people don't need him anymore. A heroic person like him did his job and now it's the turn of the people to destroy themself as it was foretold by the pumpkin lord.

He lifted his fabulous top hat one last time into the air, burned a random and cuddly puppet because why not? He looked at Almaris and just laughed at the sight of that new land, he could've overthrown another kingdom in secret, destroy another forest or just once more create another dark art for people to have fun with, yet at the end he just needed to leave and find something else, maybe something beyond the current world. His professional villainous laughter echo'd out to cause a disturbance in the force for a few seconds before he just attached a few balloons (Or whatever the F*** they were made of) onto a army of birds.

"And so, the Boogie Man flows with the wind."

The day has come for the world to allow another old villain, maybe one of the last classic guys, to disappear. So the Boogie Man waved his army of birds off into the clouds, took his amazing walking stick and marched off into the sunset...or is he? Maybe not, who knows what he actually did at the end since nobody really saw him beside the birds...as mysterious as he was, this is his end.

    ballons-clouds-colorful-photography-sky-Favim.com-143266.jpg.81046f1a28eeeaee135f90f41e71990b.jpg

Over the lands of Almaris, maybe the people can spot the balloons attached on some birds in the clouds! A few fly down towards specific groups or people, a last sign from the Boogie Man...

    - One Balloon lands on the Druid grove, a little gift for his most favorite group. His fabulous Top hat! Maybe a bit sorched at the edges, yet it smells like chocolate, yum! One small message at the side:

"The Boogie Man's End, it was fun"

    - One Balloon lands on the head of the Druid Gi'Garun, a gift for his favorite old nemesis! His favorite tea cup, that also smells like chocolate and a small message:

"The Boogie Man's End, it was fun"

    - Some more Balloons may randomly land for some people to pick the last gift of the Boogie Man up, yet those always have a black button, from clothes or dolls, that smell like chocolate and with the same message:

"The Boogie Man's End, it was fun"

    OOC:

    Spoiler

Now that's overdue! I don't play him for a very long time now, so I chose to make atleast a "Good bye" post for him. My favorite and oldest character since Anthos is gone, forever, never returns and will only live in our hearts. I had a lot of fun playing him, providing fun and engaging villainy roleplay for other players. It was always a joy to earn positive feedback, that their characters have grown from the entcounter, that he was a fun character and had a unique style. It was a fun ride.

Maybe some balloons get some speicifc people too, I can't mention everyone, but thanks for playing with me on him and I hope I caused fun experience back!

At the end, I simply don't have fun anymore.

  5. Most pointed out some obvious issues within roleplay itself.

I personally only hear about "Tavern Roleplay" and that's totally correct, even if it's not a tavern, players just sit around in a spot and talk with each other doing "slice of life roleplay". As a new player, I sure would expect some magical things to happen on something, that should actually be focused on the fantasy element. Some players might like that kind of roleplay and it can be relaxing to just be casual for a while. It's completely amazing to have multiple options of roleplay, be it combat or cooking etc.

But as a new player, I expect fantastic and magical things to happen, instead of talking about my new haircolor. We all were new and remember the first time playing, I did and it was interesting, even if I got murdered by bandits who tricked me. But that little event was already enough for me to continue onward. If I logged in and just moved into a tavern, talking about haircolor, it would be fine the first time but if it continues on and nothing happens outside of the shelter, I get bored and return back to playing something much better, ultimately quitting the server after if it gets repeated over and over again. I flopped onto the server because I liked the fantasy aspect and wanted to try roleplay out with it's element.

In short:  it might feel like a game with lot of expectations (Fantasy, Dragons! I can be a Elf and blame Gandalf for my feet! etc.), but at release and playing for some hours, it turned out to be boring.

  6. First of all, this is a well structured and actual feedback post.

Second of all... I can only describe my attention span with the Vortex system as a casual player:

    - I log into this server,

    - look into Vortex things and don't bother to even touch it after two seconds.

Now I'm totally not the only casual player around here, took me only two seconds to say "Nope". It's not appealing.

  7. Tale of The Boogie Man

(A short tale about my character, the Boogie Man. Just for fun while I remember of wtf I did with this server, a lil' quick tale.)

„That's so much fun! Let's do it again till more funny noises comes out of them!“

A little annoyance started in Anthos as a humanoid shaped person, wearing multiple spots of clothes appeard out of thin air. Of course thin air is not the case, more a loud explosion in the middle of a well populated town. He was just a annoying man wearing strange clothes and a mask in sick green colors, annoying the nobles of the human realm most of the time or a few elves once or twice. He earned a liking of annoying the people with his jester like behavior, making fun of them, making bad jokes, nothing too serious ever has been released. He called himself, the spooky Boogie Man. Of course the entertainment only started and soon he would be brought into the nasty hands of the antagonist of the realm of Anthos.

Corrupted and twisted by the Black Scourge, his body was a mere mystery since the clothes covered the nightmare underneath their thin layers. Green glowing eyes followed the steps of any living being from within the costume, a cackling and scratchy voice occupied the magnificent disgusting look of the corrupted Boogie Man. Spitting bugs, mostly maggots, nasty crawly critters at all times. He became just another corrupted soldier by Setherien, yet of course, the entertainment just began and he would be promoted!

Earning the liking of the Drakaar himself, the Boogie Man has been even mored corrupted, but without being too disgusting of course. The touch of a bloodshard and a Harbinger has given him the name of the Puppeteer, a commanding cultist. His body was weak, his frame was unnatural and crooked, at least covered by the cultist outfit and the metallic mask. What once was a simple annoyance has turned into a blood hungry monster and tyrant, following the order of his master at all cost together with the aid of his fellow cultists (Aid as in, slapping them till they do it). Oddly enough, the Boogie Man soon earned a liking in the Druids, he was disgusted by their believes in the Aspects. He was seeking entertainment and the Druids turned out to be a well rounded source of entertaining himself, but of course it would never be enough as it just began with the fun!

    __________-~*~-___________

    hearthstone_boogie.thumb.png.524d471c10a740308f8979a3ea717a97.png

    -~*~-

He commanded and lead the destruction of Malinor and it's Druid grove through the use of a corrupted tree, following the corruption of the Cloud Temple itself, turning it into a twisted slave facility and mine. Rumours has it, that the Boogie Man was commanded to get something from under the area of the ancient Cloud Temple, but of course he was just doing it for his own enjoyment at this point. The connection to Setherien was weakening, the Boogie Man started to feel like himself again, having more control over his own actions instead of following orders. He removed himself from the cultists, following a new step in his life, he founded something new and very amusing!

The Boogie Man, called Puppeteer, really earned the title as he created with the aid of a unknown person, the dark art Soul Puppetry. The nasty and disgusting believe of the magic was to control the soul of a mortal being, playing with it like a child with it's doll. Of course for one, who was seeking eternal entertainment, who never had enough and wanted more and new funny ways of exploiting somebody, Soul Puppetry was the perfect tool. His previous disgusting appearance cooled down and he somewhat turned himself into a puppet, a scarecrow, resembling his most favorite tool of enjoyment even in appearance alone. Fear was playing a great role in the Scarecrow like person, he wanted to cause fear instead of death. Dead men tell no tales, was always his main goal, he wanted to get known in order to become a icon of fear in the realm of the mortals, so much fun!

Ultimately, the curses he created with his new found magic caused terror among many people. Terrible to imagine how many had their skin turned into chocolate or were chosen to live in their own nightmare, but it was never enough for the now self-made villain. He always wanted more, the more fear the people had, the better and the more fun he had! So he needed another tool and summoned the very first Apparition into the realm of Anthos! A being made through the combination of many bodies, a being of pure hate and darkness slithered out of it's pile of corpses to terrorize the remaining towns.

The tale of the Boogie Man continued, from his large lair underneath the canalisation in the dwarven town Vaerhaven into the new realms followed quickly after. His many crimes are unable to be counted in detail, atleast he had one amazing roller coaster in one of his lairs in Athera. Speaking of lairs! Even while the Boogie Man was truly a fearsome and wanted criminal by the holy orders and obviously the Druids, his well made lairs were fascinating. Well hidden, maybe inside a tavern behind barrels was a entrance or underneath pillows, was a lair by the Boogie Man. A long hall with a very small door was always the entrance, entering would reveal a roller coaster or a boat tour through the Theme Park shaped villain home. Within, his tea parties were legendary, forced to drink green tea while eating cookies filled with all kinds of bugs. Not enough? A piano was played by a puppet, the other guests were puppets (or perhaps people stuffed into the puppet outfit, who knows?) and the Boogie Man himself was singing while telling bad jokes. A very fun place, totally.

Athera was a prime time for the scarecrow man, but leading up to the end of the realm, he suddenly disappeard! Many years passed, yet his shadow always remained. He was still around in the realms followed after, but more sneaky and hiding in the shadows, lurking for new prey, for new entertainment, his hunger for his own enjoyment didn't cease.

He became what he wanted to be, a villain known by anyone, a spooky tale to tell the children if they don't listen to their parents. His terrible crimes have been noticed, but are unable to be counted. He escaped the holy orders and others trying to finally end him, at the end, he won. But did he truly won, who knows? Someone who did so much bad and suffering just for fun, can't be considered a good person and most likely he knew it, he accepted his life and emotionless actions.

Once in a while, people might spot the scarecrow man wearing a fancy suit and a top hat, having a grand smile on his face at all times even today. Those people can chat and interact with him how they want, but should never trust him at all cost as they are mostly unable to know, of what he caused in the past. Obviously you should never trust a walking, talking scarecrow.

  8. Homophobia in a RP Scenery is acceptable in my opinion, it’s like a fantasy game such as “The Witcher” where the world is mean spirited, but we as the player know it’s a fantasy world and therefore don’t take it seriously. It gets complicated and hurtful when OOC things, get from real hate into a Minecraft Roleplay Server.

Just like playing a Villain, you should adapt to the situation and don’t cause hate, respect the players around you and you earn respect back.

  9. The Misfortune Teller

Pants, just pants with flowers on them. Just pants with red flowers as a nice little painting. Just pants laid on the road, without a owner to be around. It's quite the oddity to see lonely pants, so clean and so nicely made alone on the road. The empty road and only pants in the center of the road, waiting to be grabbed and stolen by a new owner. But a bandit would never be able to just take the amazing pants from the lonely road. The pants just moved aside once a hand reached for them in order to take them with a tight grip. A sword and a bow, nothing helps, the pants kept moving aside to avoid being stolen. Are the pants alive, can they talk? They are capable of moving aside, they don't want or like to be stolen, maybe they already have a owner? But who might have living pants? One can say, that this is quite the misfortune situation at the current moment, just pants on the road. The pants kept moving and they started to jump up and down, side to side as they stood on their so called legs, standing on the middle of the road like a living being with actual legs.

A colorful looking figure stood right next on the road, next to the living pants, was he always there to begin with? It was a odd view, a odd person in humanoid shape, but with clothes like a rainbow itself, he does wear a rainbow, maybe he stole the rainbow from the sky and turned it into a well made suit? Even the hat was a odd view, it was not just a hat, just like the living pants, it was quite the misfortune sight. The top hat had a face, not a human face, it had a long mouth and two button rainbow changing colored eyes. He had sunglasses, but then again he had none at the same time, too small or too big, nothing matters while looking at the odd person on the center of the road. Gray long hair moved down his shoulders, a young face or a old face, it was also the same as the sunglasses, something seems not right about the face, he seems to be everything at once but also nothing at the same time. A normal person can't just describe the face of the odd person, it was like a misfortunate event.

„Dojo Jojo Mojo Ma Rojo“, the only words coming from the odd person on the center of the road in the middle of nowhere while holding pants in his cane hand. The road was no more and the pants were gone, the person stood alone in the center of nowhere but also everywhere. The world was another plane, a plane of universe of existance, it was not the madness, it was just misfortunate to be in this situation of change. He was just not only one person but many at the same time, he was everything we always wanted, he was and is the misfortune part of life itself. A god among others, but also not one of them, he was disgusted by others and that's because he was unable to see the future without it's events that have no misfortune to begin with. He is the Misfortune Teller. Not a person, or a woman or a man, he was just the Teller, the Misfortune Teller. „Dojo Jojo Mojo Ma Rojo“, when you believe that the day is misfortunate for you and your life.

Look around next time and maybe the road has a pair of pants for you to pick up, or not. The Misfortune Teller, the one who is many at the same time but also not at all.

(I thought it would be neat to write about all the strange, odd and bad guys I created over Lotc as events and my own creations)
