  1. The thing that really makes me the most averse to blah is how some players use it as an excuse to have insults or language that has no place in the setting of LotC, or sometimes even on the server itself, exist. To give you an example; why do so many orcs use some variation of "Puzzih" or what have you? We all know what it is but it doesn't fit the orcs at all. It really makes them feel less like the honorable warrior race they are supposed to be and more like teenagers hurling nonsense insults.

What map did you join during?: Anthos

Do you have access to a Microphone? Yes

Average Daily Play Time? 2-3 hours, though that can increase easily enough

Have you held any LotC staff position(s) before? If so, for how long?: ET - several times, for a considerable amount of time each time.
ET Manager - at least once, maybe more, cannot totally remember.
ET Lead - once, for a short tenure.
LT - twice, once for a quite decent amount of time. Currently LT again.
GM - twice, first time was a very long tenure (became the longest running GM at one point) and the second time was for a decent amount of time as well.
GM Manager - once, was in the position for a couple months before I was made admin
Admin - once, for a couple of months. As much as it pained me I stepped down because university was making it difficult to dedicate the amount of time I felt the position of admin deserved.

Do you have prior history in any forms of moderation?

    Yes

Why do you want to join the GM Team?:

I’ve done it twice in the past with the intention to help the server and its community - this time is no different.

Have you applied for this position before and been denied? If so, link the application:

    No

Anything else you want to tell us?:

  3. As a fellow ex-Admin I have to agree with your statement on the approval process. It was my main gripe around how the administration works and I strongly believe that it is a large hindrance. The system makes sense on paper but mostly serves to slow down any decision made by the admins. I obviously don't know if thats how it still works but if it is I'd strongly encourage the current admins to find a new protocol. Worst case scenario you let a single admin make an autonomous decision (so long as its not a massive one) and its bad then you just apologize and change it. I believe that smaller admin level issues need to be dealt with in a timely manner and the idea that it needs to take weeks in order to get it just right is a tad silly. The most infuriating thing for players isn't necessarily receiving a bad verdict, its waiting ages in order to even get one to begin with. The concept that a verdict can't change if more evidence is presented at a later date or if things are explained more clearly is also silly to me.

I will have to post a disagreement here, one not solely based on the semi-infamous circlejerk that managed to split Dwarven community. Howerver, the current lore for both runesmithing and golemancy lack in details, clarifications and definitions. This has led, recently, to a controversy where a never-defined piece was brought up in regards to the runesmithing lore which is still missing from either of the implemented lore pages. Mind, golemancy lacks an implemented lore page in general.

I have played throughout Axios and these two pages have been brought up over and over as examples for pages that need both clarification and update to remove hidden lore. Over a year has passed since that verdict was made and neither pages were updated accordingly. Coupled with the Arcadian group's past with bending lore on the go, I will have to post a definite no-no here.

Thanks for the feedback, though I would like to bring up a few things:

    1. I do understand both posts are currently lacking but at the time they were made they were generally pretty par for the course. The LT is was a part of had less strict guidelines for their lore then the current team has. This isn't an excuse, mind you, simply an explanation for why it is written the way it is. Given the chance I would be more then happy to go back and make the much needed clarifications for both magics.

    2. You are right, with the new stricter regulations on lore and the want to clarify things the lore wasn't rewritten. However it is unfair to say that is my fault. I left the server for nearly 2 years, only recently returning within the past 2 months or so. If the lore needed to be rewritten during that time it should have been done by a member of the LT at the time or even an active user of the magics. By rejoining the LT I would hope to remedy the exact situations you are talking about (as well as work with the rest of the staff to produce more content for player enjoyment).

    3. There is no hidden lore for runesmithing or golemancy. I would know, I was in charge of both the lore and the events surrounding either of the magics. If you see any runesmithing or golemancy that doesn't fit their respective lore posts its safe to assume that its from an event. If its not then contact a lore moderator. The only thing I can imagine you might be thinking of is the creation methods for the newer golem types / golem anvil. Those can easily be added to the lore post if the LT desires. Anything else thats "hidden" would not have been created by me.

    4. There is a lore post for golemancy, its located under the creatures section. If you feel that "Golems" as a creature and "Golemancy" as the magic deserve separate posts then I can definitely understand that and would most certainly be willing to go through and try and separate the relevant pieces.

    5. The "semi-infamous circlejerk the split the Dwarven community" as you put it was not caused by me. The whole civil war, and its RP consequences, happened after I had already left the server. Even if I did have a part to do with it, it is largely an RP issue and I fail to see how it holds much relevance to my application. Its a situation that needs to be solved in RP. In fact I do recall recently my character offering to teach you how to make golem limbs in RP if you provided my character with good enough reason. An offer which you turned down. To try and say that I am in any way connected to that situation would be false, in my opinion.

    6. If the Arcadian group was bending the lore, while I was gone mind you, then you should have reported it to the LT (or even the LT lead themselves). I have to reiterate; I was not a part of this group. I fail to see how it holds any relevance to my application.

All this said, however, I do thank you again for your feedback. While I feel many of your opinions may be a bit misguided and founded on incorrect information and preconceptions it is rather heart-warming to see others passionate enough about the same pieces of lore I've come to love over the years.

As for all the dabbing pickles; thanks dudes.

How long have you played on LoTC? Since 2013. Joined during Anthos.

Timezone and Availability PST. Right now I’m usually available for at least 4-5ish hours per day at around 12-5 pm PST. Beyond those hours I can still very easily be contact via discord and usually respond promptly.

What lore are you versed in most?

Dwarven lore, Golemancy, and Runesmithing are my most well versed subjects. I do remember a various amount of details regarding other lores, however, particularly in the case of world lore and some event lore. I’m always ready and willing to learn more.

Give a summary of any staff positions you have held on LoTC

ET - several times, for a considerable amount of time each time.
ET Manager - at least once, maybe more, cannot totally remember.
ET Lead - once, for a short tenure.
LM - once, for a quite decent amount of time.
GM - twice, first time was a very long tenure (became the longest running GM at one point) and the second time was for a decent amount of time as well.

Admin - once, for a couple of months. As much as it pained me I stepped down because university was making it difficult to dedicate the amount of time I felt the position of admin deserved.

Have you ever written lore for LoTC?

Yes. The last iteration of runesmithing and the current iteration of golemancy are both mine. I have also written several pieces of lore for large story events that I have performed. Finally I have written lore for a couple of pieces of server-wide world / main story lore that was accepted but never became cannon as its implementation fell through.

While not exactly “writing” lore I also was very keen on helping others conceive ideas for their own lore and have contributed ideas to a variety of different lores (event, magic, race, main story, etc).

Have you ever received a blacklist or ban?

    No

Who do you not get along with on the Lore Team?

I don’t believe there is anyone on the team that I can say that I don’t get along with. I may have had differing opinions with some in the past, but that doesn’t equate to not getting along.

  6. I haven't interacted much with Wolfkite since I returned to the server recently but I can speak on what he was like prior

Woflkite used to be fairly immature, sometimes even bordering on toxic. This didn't necessarily stem from trolling or the like, but more from his stubborn nature and simply wanting to see things set right without know how to do it. He would quite often get into OOC arguments with others about the state of the server or other various topics.

Furthermore he also used to be one of LOTC's #1 conspiracy theorists. He would sit in skype channels or discord or TS or even the in game OOC channel and just talk about how "the entire server is run by x shadow figure" or "y player was shadowbanned for opposing the great leader of LOTC". As staff at the time I can tell you he was quite often.... pretty far from the truth. While this doesn't sound too bad at first, just some crazy rambling, you do also have to remember how some of the things he would say might look to new players. Constant rambling about how evil staff are or how things are controlled by a shadow leader might scare off new players very easily.

All that being said, however, I do want to reiterate my previous comment; I don't believe he did any of this maliciously or to troll. Hes a strong-willed individual who simply wants the best for the server and didn't know how to go about doing it. My last interaction with him was over a year and a half ago so there has been plenty of time for him to mature and become more responsible with how he handles himself and his ideas. Based on the various plus one's on this app from various different players in various different player groups it might be safe to say that he has matured at least a little, though I cannot speak on that myself. If he has matured then I see no reason not to give him a trial run, so long as he continues to act in a professional and mature manner and does not revert to the person I knew nearly two years ago.

  8. First time I've posted on the forums in several months but I think its worth it;

He started off as a loud, obnoxious, immature player that got upset when even the slightest thing didnt go his way. However he has changed immensely since then. Through his interaction with staff and gaining a better understanding on what they do and what they go through he matured greatly. Around the time that he began to mature he began to apply to staff teams himself. Once on these teams, at least while I was around, he was consistently one of the hardest and most dedicated workers.

Of course when it comes to being a GM one of the main things that you need to have is a level head. He could probably improve in that regard a fair amount still, but he's shown in the past that he is capable and willing to learn if he is given the chance.

I've yet to see a reason to regret giving him a chance in any other staff team, why not give him one with the GM team.
