Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from
elsewhere!:
Role-playing:
Playing a game where you act as a certain character and do things as if you
were the character. This character is made up by someone who wishes to act as
him, and this person must try their hardest to stay in character and react to
events as the character would in-game.
Meta-gaming:
Learning information from outside sources and doing things in-game with your
character, with no means of the character finding out in-game.
e.g.:
Having a friend tell you about a rumor in real life, and having your character
spontaneously know about it, even though he/she would have no way of finding
out in-game.
Power-emoting:
Roleplaying something unrealistic which does not allow the other player to
react.
e.g.:
"Guard slices with sword and kills assassin", when the right thing to
do would have been "Guard slices with sword". This allows the other
player to react.

Information:
Complete
the following biography on your character:
Full
Name: Aldwin Heathcliff
Current
Age: 25
Sub-race
(if any): Northerner
Past
/ History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
I was born in a small cottage, away from civilization, to my father, Maxwell
Heathcliff. My mother, Elizabeth Heathcliff, died giving birth to me. Alas, I
was not an only child; I had a brother, Caldwell. My father was raised in the
Empire, a Puritarianist. He was a bartender, and wasn’t the sharpest knife in
the cupboard. After he married my mother, he moved to the cottage, to the south
of the Empire. My aunt and uncle, Lily and Edgar Heathcliff, also lived with
us. Caldwell was my only real friend on a lonely piece of land, separated from
any cities. My father always mourned my mother. He took his mourning to his
grave. He was a heavy alcoholic, always going back to his bar in Ager, but the
rum could not dampen the pain he felt in his heart. When I was 9 years of age,
my father got into a fight with an orc at the bar, and it ended with his death.
Caldwell and I were taken care of by our Uncle and Aunt. I had much free time on my hands
during my youngling years. Most of this was spent learning how to fight. Using
daggers and bows, I learned how to hunt with Caldwell. We both exceeded at it
and it used to take hours and hours of our time. One day, while we were
hunting, a pack of dire wolves caught us off guard. Caldwell fought them off
and got several major bruises on his face, chest and legs. I only had minor
injuries on my leg. While carrying Caldwell back to the cottage to help him, he
passed away. My only friend gone from this world.
I later tried to become a scribe, but I fell in my father’s footsteps. Being a
descendant of a Northerner, I was mostly good for fighting, and not good at the
fine arts.
Ambitions for the Future: I hope to settle down in a city, having a job as a hunter.
I want to try to find and confront the orc that supposedly killed my father.
Personality:
Though my life was full of disappointment, I manage to remain optimistic about
the saddest of things. Even being lonely most of my life, I am not very shy at
all. I try to stay away from fights as much as I can, but am always ready if
need be.
Skills:
I excel at hunting and monster slaying. Good with daggers and bows.
Appearance
(this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Skin: I have blonde
hair, the only one in the family, and am fair of skin. http://imgur.com/qvbTNv1

1.
Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily
making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good.
There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?
Answer:
I see the cloaked figure stealthily making his way around the capital. I draw
my bow and have my dagger at the ready as I approach the shadowy figure. I call
out to him, stopping him in his tracks.
Aldwin:
“Good day sir, what might you be doing on this fine evening?”
Figure:
“I’m just paying a visit to my friend, the royal cook. It’s none of yer
business boy!”
Aldwin:
*Catches a glimpse of the mysterious figure* “Well he’s a good friend of mine,
he never mentioned you.”
Figure:
“Hey be quiet, or I’ll slit your throat!”
Aldwin:
*Calls guard* “I think the guards can probably handle this problem better than
I.”
Guard:
“What’s the problem?”
Aldwin:
“This man seems to be sneaking around the capital. He told me he’s going to see
the royal cook.”
*Mysterious
figure slashes at guard and Aldwin*
*Combat
starts*
2.
Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in
which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed
with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear
to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword,
how do you react?
Answer:
I approach the bandits and try to sort things out with them.
Aldwin:
“Gooood morning gentleman! *To stranger: “It seems like you’re in a bit of a
predicament.”
Bandit
1: “You have no business here!”
Bandit
2: “If I were you, I would leave before this gets ugly.”
Aldwin:
“Whatever seems to be the problem, I’m sure I can resolve it”
Bandit
1: “This man owes us 50 Minas, he used it all up in his gambling”
Aldwin:*Pulls
out pouch* “Well, that’s no reason to fight” *Hands bandit the 50 Minas*
Aldwin:
“I think you have no more business here.”
*Bandits
leave*
Stranger:
“Thank you so much, can I repay you in any way?”
Aldwin:
“Mister, I was happy to resolve this ordeal, you need not repay me.”
Aldwin:
“Goodbye, and stay out of trouble sir.”
3.
You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man
standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the
man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just
about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to
haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of
choice and the discussion that happens).
Answer:
I spot a new finely crafted bow, and it seems to be in top condition. I go to talk to him.
Aldwin: "Hello kind sir, would you be
selling that fine bow over there?
Merchant: "Certainly, how much would you
pay for it? I hope we can settle a reasonable price."
Aldwin: "I'll pay you as much as seems
reasonable"
Merchant: "Ahhh-"
Aldwin: "After, I look over it"
Merchant: "Well alright then"
Aldwin: "Now where did you find this
bow?"
Merchant: "An elf from the north crafted
it, beautiful piece of work, is it not?"
Aldwin: "Quite so, ahhhh what do we have
here?
Aldwin: "This string, it doesn't even
seem strong enough to hold an arrow!"
Merchant: "I'm sure it's fine!"
Aldwin: *Pulls out arrow* "May I?"
Merchant: "Certainly! Go ahead and try it
out"
Aldwin: *Draws bow, string breaks*
Merchant: "Ok, so the string can be
replaced, but the wood is fine"
Aldwin: "Well, this crack seems to say
different"
Aldwin: "I think this deal is off, and so
is your shop"
Aldwin: *Walks away*
