California Republic Aboard CRF Vallejo in orbit around Calafia Admiral Serrano sits in his office, waiting for the report from the scouting party. Not soon after a hail comes from the bridge, asking for his presence as an important message has been received. Serrano hoped that the news was good as he strode out of his office, taking the lift toward the bridge. A few minutes later he arrived, an aide approaching him with a data-pad. “We just revived this message from the scouting party.” Taking the data-pad for himself Serrano plays the video, the message clear as the flag of the Fourth Reich appears, along with the olive branch of peace. Serrano takes a moment to digest this; an ally of the Republic settling on the moon? How fortunate! With a decision clear in mind he hands the data-pad back, settling into the command chair of the flagship. Pressing a button he hails the scouting party. “Attention Scouting Party One, this is Admiral Serrano. You are to forward this message to the Germans as follows: 'The Republic sends her regards to His Imperial Majesty. I, Admrial Serrano, am heading to discuss terms of alliance and trade between our two colonies. I hope that we may come to a mutual agreement and understanding in this new frontier.'” With his peace said he directs the large warship towards Hoffen. California Republic Calafia Colonial Office With a glass of water in hand, Governor Daniels prepares himself for the coming meeting between himself and the top military brass, among them the rising poster boy of the Navy, Admiral Alejandro Serrano. He grumbles to himself, wishing the whiskey ration wasn't delayed, he could feel a headache coming on. Settling himself into his chair and taking a sip to calm his mind he thinks back on events that led them all to this planet. Earth grew too small for the Republic, they needed to expand so they looked to the stars. This was the first planet to come under their benevolent administration and due to excellent diplomacy the ruling tribals of this world agreed to submit to their authority and integrate into Californian society. Of course the military was happy with this arrangement, using them as scouts and interpreters on such unfamiliar soil. The Governor idly wonde- A slammed door later the brass was here, an aide holding up a large data pad. Taking control of the situation, Admiral Serrano salutes the Governor. "I'm sorry about the door, Governor Daniels but we have urgent news. Radar has picked up activity on the moon orbiting Calafia. We're sending a scouting vessel to scan for any hostile intent and establish contact with whatever is on that moon. We're not taking any chances and are sending a couple marines as well. Hopefully it is nothing but one can not be too sure. I will be heading back to the Vallejo to coordinate the search. Good day." With that and and a sweep of his coat, the Admiral strides out of the office. Daniels really wanted that drink right about now. I'm probably going to get stomped. This is my first time doing a forum RP. Invited by Chaq to play here, so I hope I live up to his expectations, heh.

Faction (feel free to explain it in further detail if it’s an original idea, or a lesser known faction): The Republic of California. Founded in 1832 having revolted against Mexico and fending off a takeover by US military officers. The nation quickly grew from there, taking on the world's unwanted, most coming form just across the border. Mexicans and Africans seeking a new and better life flocked to the freer California, lending their culture to the nation. This melting pot mentality continued well into the future, the nation benefiting from the ingenuity and resourcefulness of its citizens. It is now the 2100's and the Republic is ready to start its first expedition into the last frontier. Does your faction control one of the planets or moons?: Yes If so, name it and tell us a bit about it. Terrain, climate, how densely settled it is, etc.: The colony of Calafia is a large-sized settlement, consisting of a continent and a few outlying islands. The terrain is temperate, filled with beaches and large canopies of forests. The settlement itself consists of several large per-fabricated skyscrapers and housing for settlers and the military contingent. Its streets are paved and mining has started in the outskirts, infrastructure is booming, proving fast transportation to any district or city. Starting military forces (Be reasonable. Large is fine. Massive is a bit ridiculous. Note that you will be able to apply for reinforcements as things progress along.): 1 Sacramento-class Cruiser (CRF Vallejo – Flagship of the expedition) 20 Mag-rail cannons 10 Kodiak missile launchers 40 Point Defense System emplacements 3 Sepulveda-class Destroyers 12 Mag-rail cannons 25 PDS emplacements 5 Sutter-class Frigates 10 Mag-rail cannons 3 squadrons of 24 F-58 Ursine Mutli-role Fighters 10 drop-ships of 500 infantry Republic Colonial Defense Force 3 bases spread out to the north, west and east of the colony, providing security for mining and settler operations. 10,000 infantry 3,000 tanks/APCs 1 spaceport in the south of the colony, serving as the shipping port for the colony with wings spread out to accomodate the Governor's office and the other serving the military as a base of operations.
