  1. Elvira would have received news of the incident and her usual mug of mocha smashed to the ground. The woman sprinted to Sutica all the way, ignoring the pain in her legs from the long trek. It was there that the Ascended Sage witnessed the state of the house and the colour and energy in both face and eye faded. No words came from her mouth, nor did she move. Instead, she stared at the sight, her fist clenching with a tremble. She had seen Quillian only a day ago, and now such has happened. Yet deep down, she held a firm feeling there was more to this than what was laid out in front of them. The woman took a deep breath and nodded to herself.

The Ascended simply assumed she will have to wait and find out. Newfound energy would surge into her eye as she would know that someone or something had killed the children and Hareven, and she knew that it would have been something powerful. Thus the woman made her way out, her expression being that of grave but outright determination.

"...May the Archaengul guide me... for I will seek out what has happened and end the one who stole their lives!"

    =====

Eithne would hear the news and the young girl would freeze completely - Hareven was the closest person she had to a family. He was there to make her smile, to make her happy and forget the dark times, to teach her and guide her. Yet to hear that Hare was gone, tears flooded down the one armed girl's face and she broke down when the news reached her. The little firebird weeping her eyes out as her form trembles. She wanted him back, she wanted Hare back. She didn't like to be alone, she didn't want to be by herself.

Yet once again, she had lost her family.

  2. Elvira would have stood vigilantly during the coronation, the Ascended keeping a close eye out. While she was there to witness the scene, she was also there to ensure no dark forces decided to wander in and cause trouble. The woman was never asked specifically to attend so they had a holy user on standby, and she held the choice to not even attend at all - but she did anyway. She certainly applauded the new Trade Princess in clear appreciation and she'd rather not see the day ruined.

"May your reign be strong and peaceful, Cyrene"

  3. Elvira would hear the news and she would take a calm breath, standing up from her chair. She'd grab her two blades, Mesolavitis and Pyrakto, and attach them to her belt. Her eye pulsing with a brilliant teal glow.

She had ghoul to track down and end.

Elvira Naromis was many things bundled into one - but all flowed perfectly in hand with each other

Many know her as an Aengulic Magic User, an Ascended and a former Clerical leader to be precise. A devoted follower of Aeriel and Tahariae with necessary goals and mindsets. Her views that of good but also of understanding. She did hold a particular dislike to the darkness but she did understand them. For within the darkest heart, there is always a reason for why a person fell to such choice.

Of course, to those who were against the Aengudaemons, she was deemed a heretic and a fool. A person who has given up her own soul for power, though her intentions were the direct opposite. Scorned and harmed for many times by these people, one would expect her to fight back and be furious. Yet, Elvira did not oppose or show hatred towards them, she merely accepted such as their beliefs and carried on her way. For hatred only breeds more hatred and covers the eyes from seeing the potential of others.

To others, she was a leader of honour. There was no honour in killing every single foe she met, nor did she ever desire to underestimate them. She knew there was no shame in running, if it means living to see another day. In each comrade, she saw potential in even the most feeble and helped them achieve it. In each foe, she saw a worthy opponent and took arms against them with hidden respect. For a leader must not only hold honour to all they meet and face, but also patience and be the guide of those who follow them and those that need help when needed.

Yet, deep down, Elvira has always been a researcher and an Alchemist at heart. Ever since Athera, she had trained and honed her abilities to theorise and discover solutions when necessary. Whenever it be creating new potions, theorising why something was occurring, or merely lending assistance to another. Her former Alchemy teacher, Daniel Nodal, always told her:

“An Alchemist is not simply just a brewer of potions that already exist, but someone who discovers new solutions and regents, and create new remedies. Go beyond what many expect your role to take and do good for the world while you still live.”

His words sticked firmly to heart and have since become a part of her morale and codes. Using her skills as an Aengudaemonic follower, a leader, and a researcher, the woman sought to find explanations and new ways to aid many. Perhaps make breakthroughs and stop world destroying events from occurring.

Which was why Elvira was now sat at her desk in her new workshop, reading over multiple textbooks and pamphlets regarding the mysterious purple trees. The Sage of Ruin did not deny it - she was utmost curious about these trees just like any other person. Many would be regarding this unique phenomenon on waters and trees that could heal away the most fatal of wounds faster than any Aengulic healer, even as far as to remove the darkest of curses. She knew that many had already bathed in the waters, she could easily tell by the near fully purple colour of their eyes. A truly strange sight if she must say. If she wanted to, she could easily state these trees to be the sacred ‘All-cure’ or the ‘Fountain of Healing’. Yet she didn’t as she knew one thing.

Healing never comes without a price.

To Alchemists, brewing a powerful healing potion would mean having to venture out and seek out the necessary regents, many of which being deadly to gather. Even if such regents were gathered, brewing the potion would take a precious amount of time and consideration, and even one false move could completely ruin the potion. By then, they would have to start all over, more time wasted. She had been an alchemist for nearly over a hundred years now, and she knew of how much time and effort being an Alchemist would take.

To Aengulic Healers, the ability to heal away the wounds depended on the magic. Ascended take the very wounds onto their own body and suffer the pain themselves, making themselves vulnerable to attackers as the wound heals slowly.Clerics face full fatigue and sometimes even place themselves in comas should they decide to go over their limits, Elvira had done such before and it was certainly a price to pay. She recalled the times when her opponents took advantage of her after she took broken limbs from an innocent, and had since taught all students to be utmost careful.

To Mundane healers, they had to depend on their skills and their quick thinking. The stress bearing down on their shoulders as many would have to work in conditions that would make things worse - whenever it be a crowded room or in the middle of the battlefield. One mistake would cost them permanent damage to their patient… or their patient’s life. The price of potentially losing your patient to mistakes that could be easily avoided. Elvira had faced such price before, having been unable to save another person... remembering the life fading from their eyes still shook the woman, but made her all the more determined to do better.

And now there were trees and waters that could heal the mortal body of the worse wounds, curses, and scars. To Elvira, something was clearly off with how these trees simply formed and are offering their abilities without any price to those who have successfully bathed within the waters, minus the fact of purple eyes. While the darkness and those who were deemed wrong were killed by the waters, there was certainly more to the price than this. The eyes, in fact, were the big giveaway there was a price focused on those afflicted. Many have realised it too and have since been trying to ensure no others bathed in the water, which was good though it did not stop everyone. Elvira held a deep feeling it was one that all who bathed in the pool will face, and it was not going to be good. For the moment the person bathed in the pool, equivalent exchange happened: the giving of something valuable in order to receive something of the exact same value. In this case, the people afflicted gave these trees the chance to bestow the price on them in exchange of healing them from their wounds. That Elvira knew, though she did not know what exactly the price was for bathing in these trees. Yet she held a feeling that in the near future, such price will be fully revealed. However, she was determined to figure it out before such could occur.

Thus the woman made it her resolve - figure out more about these trees and the healing energy. She was an Ascended, though it was not just the darkness she fought against, it was forces beyond mortal that would seek to cause harm to the descendants that she fought against. Thankfully with the information she had, the sage held a deep feeling as to what exactly these trees are, the energy is, and how it could tie in with another large issue going on. Though it would take up all of her skills to come up with some theories, as well as relying on others to get such information for her to work with.

Taking her quill in hand, Elvira took her piece of parchment and she began to write, detailing down everything she knew of the trees so far, of the Vaeyl Order, of spirits, of any Aengudaemons she could speculate was involved, and so forth. She understood there would be those who would scorn her, believing her theories and her ideas to be too extreme and like a fairy tale. She would not blame them, especially those who seek to deny what the world is and play ignorance.

Yet in a world where Aengudaemons had clashed, where magic is flaring in the hands of many, and many strange phenomenons have occurred before within the many realms before,

It'd be quite hard to state something such as this as a mere fairy tale.

((So I got bored and decided to write out a roleplay post for Elvira, where she'll be writing a book that'll detail down information on Smaw's purple tree event and including IC theories, definitions, and ideas that were gained in character - especially one big theory that I came up with that connects this event with the Vaeyl Order eventline. Your characters are free to send any ideas or information to Elvira, as it would help her out. Plus, this is a nice project of mine I'm looking forward to doing - and I've got all of the major posts on this eventline pinned and ready to use))

    • Demonata by Darren Shan.
    • The Power of Five Series by Anthony Horowitz (Raven's Gate. Evil Star, Nightrise, Necropolios, and Oblivion). That book series got me into writing and its still an all time personal favourite.

The likes and dislikes should be clarified to be the views of their main settlements, not every member of the race follows these.

Also high elves that leave the Silver city can come back provided they didn't make themselves impure, just often they have to do trials to prove their purity. Oh, and there is/was a branch of purely high elven clerics stationed within the Silver walls so they do accept some religious stuff.

I can confirm that there was a high elven sect of Tahariaen clerics within the high elven city, but they've since fallen inactive. Also, my character is an Ascended but she lives at the city, and many are fine with it. I think the high elves are completely fine with many magics (dark magic being border-lined since dark magic) and it shouldn't be outlined as a dislike.

Also. I don't think there should be a likes and dislikes, since every character has their own unique sets of likes and dislikes and new players reading this will feel that it's necessary to include those dislikes else they aren't RPing the race correctly. You could describe the traditions and overall culture but don't make it seem as though it is utterly necessary for any characters to hold these likes and dislikes.

Nice, omit the pretty much instant regeneration they have. 1-2 hours IC is like five minutes of OOC time.

What...I'm sorry what? Like, really? I guess you completely forgot about this thread than....

I'm speechless. A thread chock full of complaints, and no one has ever complained. I mean, there are people complaining about Ascended Magic in this thread rn. K.

Except that's something you chose to do? If an Ascended wanted to log off for half an hour, upon coming back they'd be perfectly within reason to have just claimed that the wound healed. Or even if it's for the day.

TL;DR, healing roleplay at the moment is absolutely horrid and needs a serious revamp. I'm not opposed to it in its entirety, but it needs to be strictly monitored, have no combat applications, and just in general toned down from all angles.

Jallen is referring to the rewrite that we currently have on standby because of an upcoming announcement by the LT that corrolates to do with Holy Magic. All the errors that the LT gave to us have been fixed within said rewrite and we're currently waiting for the announcement before we continue working on the rewrite. We don't know what said announcement is but we've been told to put the rewrite on standby until the announcement is out. Plus it's better to wait and see how the announcement will affect for the Ascended before we continue with the rewrite, else we'll likely write something that could go against said announcement and cause us to overhaul an idea we have already fleshed out. The current Ascended magic, the active one as of now, does have flaws but the one in the rewrite has been fixed. We're just waiting on this announcement from the LT.

Furthermore, the most recent thread regarding the Ascended came out shortly after we were told to put the rewrite in standby but all the posts have been taken into consideration - although a majority have outlined issues that have been fixed within the rewrite alright.

In regards to Ascended regenerating time, I meant the hours in OOC time. I apologise for not elaborating if its IC or not, but a majority of the Ascended leave their wounds to regenerate for an OOC hour or two. Jallentime went as far as to have his character's eye slowly regenerate over a 2-4 OOC Day period. Furthermore, don't forget there will be moments where an Ascended is wounded and leaves an area, and will not receive any roleplay. How do you expect an Ascended player to roleplay out their wounds healing when no one is present? An Ascended will leave the server to focus on other things and by then, yes their wounds will heal and time would have passed if you put into consideration how time works on the server. Furthermore, it depends on the severity of the wounds and it's hard for me to put into perspective how long it will take for a wound to heal due to the different sizes, depths, and other factors that need to be considered in regards to wounds. Minor wounds would take a few minutes OOC, whereas more major wounds would take a few OOC hours... but where is the line between a minor wound and a major wound, and there's the moderate wounds also.

However, should an Ascended be instant-regenerating and it's clearly unfair, do report it to a staff member or another Ascended player so that we can at least talk to the person and get them to quit the instant-regeneration, else they will be let off the hook and may continue with such.

Are clerics incapable of learning alchemy or medicine with their magic?  I mean, personally, I'd be ecstatic to see Clerics have a role as a doctor of the supernatural.  It fits more thematically in with Tahariae being against impure things for him to only allow healing impure wounds.

This. This right here is something I want to highlight on as important and I advise everyone to read up on it.

Elvira use to be a cleric and before she became a cleric, she was trained by Jistuma's character about alchemy. So when it came to healing someone, I literally used both alchemy and magic to heal, and it actually makes things easier from a RP perspective. I even taught multiple clerical students about using mundane and alchemical healing, as well as heavily advising them to balance out using mundane methods and magic.

I'll use a scenario here to outline how a holy mage knowing mundane / alchemical healing can greatly change the situation.

Your patient has a fatal wound that is bleeding heavily, as well as causing extreme pain to them. There are two options: Immediately summon your light and heal the whole wound, including pain and bleeding. Or you can use alchemical  / mundane healing before you heal.

Magic alone: By the time the cleric has brought out their light, the patient would have lost a fair amount of blood if the wound has not been pressured, resulting in the patient suffering from bloodloss (as clerics cannot restore back the blood within someone - only remove the effects temporarily until the effects come back an hour later, as the patient is still missing blood). Even more, should the patient be bleeding in multiple areas  or has already lost a large amount of blood before the cleric arrived - the chances of them dying increase at each second passing, so by the time a cleric has their light summoned, the patient may die.

With Alchemical / mundane healing assisting: Place a liquified version of Tippen's root on the wound(s) that are bleeding, which near-instantly ceases the bleeding and allows a more effective view of the wound. Should the cleric also have this: Press some Blissfoil on the wound to cease the pain and make the patient more comfortable as you get ready to summon your light. Should neither be avaliable, a cleric can apply pressure to the wound or have someone else do such, there's also the method of a tourniquet (Essentially: Wrap a rag tightly above the wound in order to cut off blood flow in the veins, to stop the bleeding and buy time. By using this method, there's a heightened chance that the patient will survive and will not bleed to death, as the dangers have been treated (or at least reduced) and the cleric has enough time to close the wound before any further damage is done.

As you can see, the latter option is more suited, but it does depend on if the healer knows the regents or has the knowledge on how to treat particular wounds and injuries. Which in turn encourages the healer to learn about Alchemy and Healing, and can provide more roleplay than just relying on magic. Furthermore, a cleric's light heavily tires them which can be extremely serious if there are multiple injured but only one cleric at the scene, so being able to balance out both mundane healing and magical healing is extremely vital and useful. Use mundane / alchemical for smaller wounds, but use a combination of both mundane and magical to handle more severe and life threatening wounds.

I still do it for Ascended magic, given that I'm now taking a wound onto myself - may as well at least treat the wound and ensure its in a better condition than just immediately taking the wound on as its bleeding. So I can vouch in stating that using mundane methods and holy magic - whenever it be cleric, paladin, ascended, etc - is really effective and I love to see many using Alchemy and Mundane more.

Personally to me - holy healing should not be heavily nerfed, as a majority of the healing do have consenquences if you consider how a lack of fatigue, or having to slowly wait for a wound to regenerate can impact scenarios and endanger the healers. But instead, we should be encouraging holy healers to think outside of just using their magic, as it should not always be a first call... since even magic has it flaws and time can be a healer's worse enemy.

  8. Just posting an FYI here regarding Ascended Healing.

Ascended don't even heal the wound - they take it on themselves, meaning that said Ascended will face the consequences of having that wound for 1-2 hours, where a lot can happen and essentially **** up said Ascended.

Example: Elvira takes someone's broken leg and she now needs to relax or move herself to somewhere safe for a few hours due to how badly wounded the bones are. An enemy comes in while she's regenerating - Elvira = Easy target due to hindering to leg movement and the fact she can still cause damage to her own leg as its regenerating + regeneration ceases when in a battle scenario, so my character is stuck with a semi-healed leg until I die or I get out of that scenarion

    ===

Ascended can take on curses that is binded to an Descendant's soul, which in turn places the Ascended in the scenario where they will face to suffer the curses effects for a decent amount of hours. So we still face the side effects of a curse until the regeneration destroys the curse completely.

Example: Elvira takes a Soul Puppetry curse from someone and onto her soul template. The Soul Puppeter can now manipulate Elvira for an hour or two, essentially meaning they can still cause a great amount of damage to my character or those around her. In the space of that period - all hell can break lose if the Soul Puppeter decides to do something.

    TL:DR

Yes we can regenerate but depending on the severity, a small wound would take minutes, a more severe wound would take a fair amount of hours. Severe wounds never take a couple of minutes to heal, and furthermore - an Ascended's regeneration shuts down completely during a combat scenario, so we can't just heal as we fight and we can still get our backsides handed to us.

Therefore the Ascended already hold a set of consequences.

  9. Living with a disability can be hard, whenever it is physical or mental, and it can impact someone's ability to roleplay and how they interact with people. I can say that from my own experiences and I could relate to your story in some instances. It's hard and the struggles can be tough but hey, we all have to overcome boundaries and walls in order to live and become the people we're meant to be. So seeing you be open to everyone on here and explain about your disability is truly something I can respect and admire.

I play an Ascended named Elvira, who has faced her own fair share of struggles, and if I see you around - I'll be sure to drop a hello and RP with you!

I raise my glass to you and wish you a wonderful welcome to the server.

    Noteworthy information

    Spoiler

    Races

I am most skilled when it comes to drawing humans, elves, halflings and dwarves. Khas, orcs, and non-human appearing races tend to be harder for me but I will do my best to draw them.

    Animals

I’m fine with drawing out animals, as long as I at least get a picture of what said animal looks like (Especially if the animal is a LotC animal).

    Accessories

Armour and jewellery, I am fine with drawing but drawing helmets and hats may be a little hard for me. This also includes a character using magic, where I am fine with drawing eyes and some magical effects.

    Backgrounds and extra characters

I can draw backgrounds to an extent but they will not be as detailed as the character. I am also happy to include additional characters, but be aware you will need to pay $2 per additional character, minus main character. Example: $7 for a bust that includes the main character and an additional character.

    How to pay

I use paypal in order to receive pay, therefore once I’ve finished the art- I’ll send what’s needed so that you can pay for the art. This will be done via discord.

    Waiting

I will only take on four commissions at a time and focus on them, and once all four are finished, I will take on the next four commissions on this post. Time can range from a day or two on a commission to likely a week, so please be patient.

    Deviantart

If permitted, I will post up any commissions on my Deviantart page and it will have a waterwork over the top, while the official copy will be sent to you over discord.

What I do with the money earned?

For those curious but with the money I earn with commissions, I aim to use such in order to save up on buying particular writing programs that can assist me in my writing career, as well as hopefully be able to pay for an editor that can look over my work when it is done (I actually suck at proofreading). Who knows - may even end up getting one of my in-progress novels published. Whatever is left will help me a little in life.

The battleworn Ascended would then light a candle in honour of the man she met during the Axios Exodus.

I did not want to get into this but given by the level of bickering and the fact there's no middle ground, I'm grudgingly writing this.

Instead of arguing on who is right or wrong here and tearing at each others throats, we instead focus on the future. The Ascended lore is being rewritten and it will be up to the LT and MT to decide if said rewrite is to be passed. Every group has its bad eggs, there's no denying that. We all do the wrong actions, based on what we perceive as right. Yes, perhaps some members of the Ascended order can be idiotic at times, but from my view, their actions were relatively just compared to what another sect of Ascended were planning. I know Fid and his group are decent people and they wanted to try something new, but by the rules the Ascended follow in RP, what they wanted could not be achieved without facing disconnection. We can't always get what we want and even if we try, there are consequences that will need to be faced.

Also, if any person powergame or clearly does something wrong on the server and you see them doing it - it is your responsibility to alert the staff and raise the matter at hand. Don't just wait for a forum post like this to come so that you can post it on here. You wonder why the matter of powergaming, being overpowered, or whatever is rulebreaking is not getting resolved and is causing more issues - consider the fact that by not alerting the staff, that is exactly how a person gets away with that stuff. By  default, you are second-hand assisting that person in getting away with the rule breaking by allowing them to. So those not alerting the staff are just as responsible than the person actually breaking the rules.

Instead of just stating 'remove Ascended' like the staff will literally do it,  because at this rate - those who keep posting the topics and the status about it won't actually get it and are just making an idiot of themselves, how about we all focus on what we really need to focus on and let the Ascended do their own thing. Because at this point, something is being done, but just having these votes, status, and posts about removing isn't doing anyone any good and is only causing more drama than it is of solving it.

So let's all just take a deep breath and just move on from this. The past is in the past but learn from it, and let's focus ahead and ensure we don't mess around on anything else. I've had enough of this Ascended drama and I want to just get back to roleplaying with people, no more being gank-squadded, being talked about behind my back purely because of what Ascended group my character is a part of and who I OOCly associate myself with, and so on. IC targetting? That's fine, it's RP - Just have a proper good and interesting excuse for coming after my character. But OOC reasons and you using IC as a way to rub the salt into my apparent wounds? That's just being salt.

This is to both sides of this, not one or the other. Both of you.

Also: I didn't hold any direct involvement with whatever issues were going on and only wanted to just roleplay as my character, but with the constant drama between both sides - God help me so when the stress kicked in from that and the constant "we hate Ascended", "Vote yay or nay for Ascended magic" shittery stuff going around.

    Farryn out!

  14. "...this is what happens when you declare war on all nations and groups, there's those that actually takes such declaration seriously and as an excuse to cause harm... and will not stop," Elvira would state softly, sipping her mocha. "I should visit, perhaps provide some medical care and aid to the Halflings."

  15. Elvira would frown, shaking her head. "...I'm expecting another clash between circles to arise soon... it's an endless cycle: A new circle is formed, another circle gets pissed about it, drama breaks out between the circles, the situation ends with usually new circle ends up disbanding or all members being unattuned."

    ---

Eithne rubs the back of her neck, clearly concerned. "I'm still remaining circle-less. I don't want to be caught up in any more druidic drama..."

  16. Elvira would read the paper and her eyebrows would vanish into her hairline at the news of her old order targeting Ferals. Yet she would recall what she knew about Ferals and she would nod softly.

A few moments later, a note is placed up and is unsigned.

"Given by how a cleric's light can affect the Ferals and the fact that the clerics have to kill those who are harmed by their light, it is considered their duty. A cleric will have to end a dark being, else they will be placed at risk of disconnection. Unlike the Paladins and the Ascended who can spare a dark being's life if it benefits their Mission, the Clerics of Tahariae cannot spare those considered impure by Tahariae's light, which includes Ferals. That's what I went through as a cleric, as will many others, and many should realise that the clerics are merely doing their duty like any other. Yes, it can be seen as unfair but those who take on the Feral's Curse know what they are getting themselves into and accept the fact that they will be hunted down. Clerics accept the burden that they will have to end those of impurity, even if they were once friends. That is the life of a Cleric - it is not fair but if it means being able to consider the larger picture and aid others, then it is a life many clerics are willing to take.

Also. Why would the clerics rise up against the Dominion? An order going against a nation is suicide and for the clerics, it is near disconnection worthy as it sways them from their duty and Tahariae does not approve of His Clerics fighting descendants. Furthermore, many of the clerics have homes and families within the Dominion and do you truly believe that they would just throw it all away just for one thing? They would not, they are sensible and I trust them to do what is right. Therefore to write that this could be a potential uprising from the clerics demonstrates the writer's lack of understanding on the clerics and I advise them to learn of the Clerics' point of view on this before posting information that they hear. A newspaper writer must consider both sides of a story and be knowledgeable in what they write about, which is something this writer failed to demonstrate. Learn of what you are posting before you actually post it.

Lastly, there's is the risk of the Feral curse reaching someone who will abuse the power and harm descendants. Perhaps even go on a rampage and devour those present. Ferals need to eat meat in order to keep themselves stable, but what if a Feral hasn't eaten such and goes on a rampage in a square? If you ask me, this curse should not be spreading around to the point where it can fall into the hands of those who will abuse it. I have friends who are Ferals and I do trust them to use their abilities as a Feral wisely, yet I cannot help but wish for them to free themselves of this curse, as it will only endanger not just themselves but those around them, especially if they go into a rampage near innocents. So I urge the ferals to please cease in using this curse before a situation arises that will cause more harm than good to everyone.

Is it truly worth the risk of having this curse about when it benefits no one, especially not benefiting the Descendants?"
