What is metagaming?: Using out of character information in Role-play. For example if I were to kill another player in character because of out of character contingencies. What is powergaming?: One example would be saying your character dodged an arrow or raised himself from the dead by bestowing uninscribed power on your character. Character’s name: Maren Character’s gender: female Character’s race: half elf Character’s age: 20 Biography: Maren was raised by her father in a small mining village in the mountains. She lost her father at a young age and was fostered to one of the families in the village. When she was old enough to be sent to work in the mines, she found she was afraid of the caves and refused to go in and was punished for it. A month later she got up enough courage to leave all she had ever known behind and she became a wanderer. On her journeys she became the company of a old bard named Merik. He took her in and taught her his craft. She soon could play any instrument as well as he could and sing even better. Times were difficult for travel, as the high elves had killed a human king. Anywhere she went she was met with hostile stares and on one occasion she was attacked on the open road by two human soldiers. She killed one and the other ran away. Maren swore she would never kill unless she absolutely had to. Two months later Maren was soon playing in small village pubs and to any traveler who shared her fire. Personality Traits: Loyal, Sincere, loves to learn, introvert, Maren is somewhat of a loner. She welcomes company but often prefers to be alone. Ambitions: Maren aspires to spread joy by telling her stories and singing songs. Strengths/Talents: Good with a bow, can sing and play the flute Weaknesses/Inabilities: is partially blind in one eye and has hearing issues. Appearance: Maren at stands 5’9 and a half, she has broad shoulders and has a willowy figure. Her hair falls to just below her shoulder blades and her eyes are a rich dark brown. Although she is a half elf, her ears barely have any point to them. She has a low melodic voice which she has developed over her time traveling. One day when she woke up, he was gone. He had left her a message along with his own flute. The message read: My dear Maren, I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. I do not wish for you to be upset at the lack of my presence. I left you my flute so that you may remember the good times we had together. Play the music we enjoyed and tell the stories that I told to you. Life as a bard is hard, but I think you have what it takes. Sincerely, Merik. Maren now travels the roads singing merry tunes and telling stories (often to herself) as she and Merik used to.
