After considering some of the comments made in this thread, our group has decided to move to a more central location compared to the islands. The charter thread has been updated and we wish to discuss with both staff and our potential neighbors regarding land arrangements.

Ok, after reading the above comments I realise there are too many points to answer in depth, and some were not made in a civilised fashion. That said, I will answer a few major points. 1. Worries about powergaming and being a PvP group. The majority of us are not PvPers, although we do have some as we need a military to deal with raiders and invading armies if any. We are not a military group, not even at the start, and we are more dedicated to keeping the peace in our lands rather than raiding others. That said, we really don't like people coming to our lands and looking for trouble; should we need to we are not completely averse to fighting. As for powergaming, while there are some people who are comparatively new to RP, our group mainly consists of RP-oriented players from our previous servers. We despise 'pure PvPers' at least as much as the rest of the community does, and the aggressiveness of PvPers is in fact one of the reasons our previous server (which is an RP/PvP one) declined and we left. 2. Involvement in lore and politics We are completely ditching our old lore which was meant for our previous servers, and those would remain on our site but be archived. We are also making a new founding story which will be compatible with lore on LoTC. As for politics, we plan to remain active observers for a time being - ie watch how server politics work deep down but not completely sit it out and be isolated. We aim to have 2 pacts formed ASAP, but remain essentially observing and should we participate in wars they would mainly be defensive. 3. Our website We are not going to post a link to a site yet nor would we officially confirm or deny any links posted by other players. It is meant to be a private site for our group, and when we feel the site is ready for our time on LoTC we would post the link. There are some who may or may not have googled the link already, in which case good job on your googling skills. We have decided to restrict access to our site at least for the time being to avoid any further confusion, and all members not part of our group would be removed unless they have a good reason to be on here due to the recent attitude of some players. Considering its a private site we think we have the right to remove any non-involved personnel so to speak. If you have anything to ask, just PM us here. Since our site is currently also in a transitional period, it is not ready for LoTC use yet; and there are threads which cannot be seen from an outsider's perspective which means that you won't have a complete picture from our site anyway. Therefore I will not respond to any points involving our site. 4. Threats about razing our lands and slaughtering our people See #1. We also plan to make alliances. If you have any points in previous posts that you feel I haven't answered, please PM me and I will deal with them if they were not made in toxic posts. I won't be leading the group due to being busy IRL, and we are currently transitioning power within our council. Due to being burnt out by the recent turn of events I have decided to step down more quickly than I expected. If you have any further constructive criticism, advice or enquiries please direct them to TheShadower7 (and CC me if you wish to), who will read them and process them as quickly as possible; if you have any further derogatory comments, threats or insults please PM me with them, I will report and then delete them. The location we picked is quite near to Urguan and Oren. One of the reasons we picked that location was because we wish to be an 'active observer' for the initial time being - while some of us have been playing here for a while, as a group we thought it would be a good idea to observe the political and cultural details/interactions of this community. We are quite reluctant to directly participate in any conflicts but will defend our lands or those of our allies if necessary. We do plan to form some pacts and there will be some diplomacy in action, and further down the line we plan to morph into something different. There are several options depending on circumstances and how well we are doing at that point. Long story short, we plan to keep to ourselves in some ways but we don't plan to completely fence ourselves off. As for the name of our guild, there are several definitions to the word 'ranger' with different connotations. Rangers could be forest dwellers or skirmishers (as pointed out already), elite light infantry, or simply wardens to keep the peace. We are kinda a mix of all of the above, and hence we think that 'rangers' is an adequate label for our guild. Should that be unsatisfactory we are willing to change it to 'wardens' or some other title. While living in the woods is kinda the stereotype of wood elves (hence the name), unless I am mistaken there is no reason why other species cannot reside in forested areas; and at any rate the word 'ranger' could be used to describe the other aspects mentioned above. Should the word 'rangers' still not be suitable we are happy to change it into 'Wardens'. Thank you for all the advice above. Our group has been considering the move since the beginning of this year, and we have considered several courses of action including those above. However, we have decided to go down a different route, and I hope that the LoTC community can respect our decision. This is in fact something we have discussed and at one point was an option, but we decided against it for several reasons: 1. Not all of the group is brand new to the server. While quite a lot of members are new, there are also members, particularly among the leadership, who have been playing here for a while and there are some people who are returning to LoTC as a result of this venture. 2. While we chose LoTC because of its good RP experience, human nature means that on many servers there are people who aim to cause drama, exaggerate, or leap to conclusions. We aim to provide a haven that suits players of our group, and we consider that the best way to do so would be to have control over domestic politics. 3. Our group has existed for 3 years now, which is not incomparable to some of the nations on here although lorewise we would be quite new. Joining another nation runs a huge risk of having our group break up. There are other reasons ofc some of which would be mentioned to staff, but we feel that we have enough experience to start a nation on here and no obligation to refrain from doing so. We are in the middle of revamping our website, which may or may not be the one mentioned above. I can confirm that all the lore on our website is outdated and was meant for the server we used to be based on (Atherys Ascended). On LoTC, we are starting from a blank slate, and we are working on a founding lore for the nation which will be done hopefully with staff input. I sincerely hope that you would not leap to conclusions before replying in the future. There is a good reason why we haven't officially posted our website link on the LoTC forums. We will post the official link of our website in due course, which again may or may not be the above, when we feel that the website is ready for LoTC use.
