  3. Arelion turns back to respond upon hearing he was being questioned. “Miss Soulheart will have to respond in greater detail to the first, as I know only what I have read in her ‘official’ proclamation. The parchment was quite on vague on the accusations, with the only concrete statement being the claim that we had taken the city’s lights. Again, this was not substantiated, and I myself found it quite annoying to traverse the city at night due to the darkness. Whoever the thief is, I’d gladly see him or her be caught and answer for it.

As to the second, I can attest I was not contacted at all, nor was the Okarir’tayna, the only other active Council member. We were not sent any letters by bird or messenger, nor did any proclamation calling for the resigning Councilors to convene reach my ears.”

  4. “And so the circle closes, and we return back to the beginning. I could spends countless hours defending and explaining every single action, but as you seem have chosen ignorance in the past, I think little good with come from it. I merely have a few more things to say. Kulin’oem Vallei’tir was named under the system proposed by Miss Fi’talareh, Mister Maeyr’onn, and Mister Asul’Ailer. My family was only one of many to support Mister Vallei’tir, with another being the Visaj. Mister Asul’Ailer was just as absent as Mister Vallei’tir, so you did in fact, leave the position vacant, and while naming Larihei is a noble gesture, it is an impractical one that still leaves the mali’thill with no Maheral.

Now, you also accuse Mister Maeyr’onn and myself of crimes against Haelun’or, with once more, no proof. Now if there was, an argument for our impurity could be made. However, should that be the case, then his impurity lead him to name you, and an impure Maheral’s opinions hold little value. The only other scenario is that a pure Maheral stripped you of any claims to the mantle.

Regardless, as I’ve said, I did not come here to defend my tenure as Okarir’mali. That would be relevant if I came seeking appointment to the council, but I simply speak to ensure the mali’thill do not lose their way. This matter has taken up enough of everyone’s valuable time. I await to hear of Mister Sullas’s judgement, but I will also not remain party to a debate that might at this rate never end. For myself, I have said what I wish heard. Van’ayla.” Arelion dips his head to those gathered, and proceeds to leave the city for his home.

  5. “I shall attempt to be brief, as this is becoming quite extensive. To conclude the matter of the Maheral, I merely recite the facts that are known to me, what Mister Maeyr’onn expressed in conversation, and what Mister Haler’thilln has stated publicly here today. Mister Maeyr’onn saw fit to reclaim the title after Mister Haler’thilln announced his resignation. While not impure, perhaps, in his duties he failed to adequately guide, mediate, teach, and when the time came, to name an appropriate successor, which would all be grounds to declare him to be no true Maheral at all. The only reason I would question his purity is that he accepted the nomination, and then failed to be sufficiently present to fulfill his duties, much like the denounced Kulin’oem, and took extensive leaves of absence with no warning. Ceruberr Asul’Ailer was named to assist, as Mister Haler’thilln stated, but he himself was rarely in the city, and in fact abandoned all ties to elcihi’thilln in order to swear fealty to the Dominion King.

As to the matter of trial, I daresay this whole discussion qualifies as one. Both sides have been a granted an opportunity to present evidence, in a public forum, with a respected mali’thill presiding in judgement. Upon announcing my accusations, Miss Soulheart has taken every opportunity to argue her case, and both parties have been able to present counterarguments. The punishment I called for stems from the belief that the facts I presented point only to a guilty verdict, and the only one appropriate for the magnitude of the crime.” Arelion Laurir’ante states in response to Lucion.

  6.

Arelion lets out a tired sigh. You appear to be a bit confused, Miss Soulheart, in multiple remarks. By all accounts, you failed to protect the city. It is now a ruin, so every action you had undertaken, which broke the core laws of Haelun’or and went against our most venerated traditions, was for nothing. Your actions are not legitimized, merely another stain.

Now on to the matter of purity. In truth, I’ve known many mali’thill who make mistakes in their life and commit minor infractions. Such can be dealt with education and correction. However, in your case, the pattern of behavior fits only a mali’ata. I bring up the matter of the path as Mister Delos himself said you were forgiven by the laws of Fi’halen. If laws are allowed to supersede our traditions, then perhaps the state is not truly legitimate at all? Regardless, a proper return to purity would require undertaking the path, seeking absolution for your crimes from every mali’thill affronted, yet I believe it's clear from your actions that would merely be a facade as to further cause more damage.

May I also bring up that as I’ve already stated, the books were evacuated from the city, not stolen. This quite lengthy discussion need not be longer, as long as you cease with your fabrications.”

  7.

Arelion Laurir’ante steps up yet again. “First, to Miss Soulheart’s points. By your own admission, you were not thinking or acting rationally. Now, that can from time to time be forgiven, however we are mali’aheral, and are not ruled by inflamed passions, especially when they lead to the usurpation of a democratic government. I called for an open election to replace elheial’thilln, dedicated to retaining my position only until a successor was selected. Instead, you utterly disregarded the process. I’m not blind to the realities of the situation, but using a crisis to claim titles, especially the way you achieved such, was inherently appalling. This fails to mention that you immediately instituted a banishment without trial and fabricated evidence. Your first act was not to plan for defense, but to attack the last mali’thill family that resided within elcihi’thilln. By that very act, your motives and purity are called into question.

As to Mister Haler’thilln, I see no way of confirming your statements. In Cenwall’s resignation proclamation, Andria Fi’talareh is not mentioned in any fashion. My judgement of your position is based on merely what Mr. Maeyr’onn stated in conversation during my service as Medi’ir. If a Maheral implies his successor to be impure and then revokes all rights to the mantle, a Maheral that had managed to return the mali’thill from the brink of utter destruction, I’m inclined to concur. However, as you admit ignorance and that you did not, in fact, hold the authority to name a new Maheral, I have no further qualms with your actions as long as such oversight is corrected.

Now, to the query of Mister Sullas. As has been admitted, Mister Haler’thilln’s statement was an endorsement, yet not one that can nominate a proper successor. Mister Visaj’s claim to the title now only stems from the mali’thill themselves, as seems to be implied by Mr. Delos. However, the Maheral is bound to no state, and to ignore the opinions of mali’thill not currently residing in Fi’halen does a disservice to all those who adhere to elmaehr’sae hiylun’ehya. The vote for his confirmation was also not public, and therefore there exists no tangible proof of any sort of quorum. As such, I call for the appointment of a legitimate Maheral, who’s claim to the position, by virtue of his accession and personal capabilities, cannot be questioned. Mister Visaj has disregarded the precedents that exist for situations similar to the one we find ourselves in today. He has clearly mishandled the path of purity, and while I have no reason to believe him to be mali’ata, his reaction to all aforementioned matters has been less than stellar.

Second, I call for the immediate, permanent, and irrevocable banishment of the mali’ata called Solaria Soulheart, on pain of death. She has betrayed the oaths she swore as a Sillumir, she has engaged in unsubstantiated slander, she had tainted her flesh with religious iconography, concealing it for years, and through her uncontrolled passions and temper she has shown to be more akin to a beast than a mali’thill. The corruption she spreads must by stymied and uprooted.

Only once the mali’thill have a true haven, dedicated to the principles of Larihei, the place of our silver kind will be restored.”

  8.

Arelion would speak again. It seems you have completely avoided every single point I have brought up. Fi’halen is the Enclave of the Mali’aheral, but I decry its Maheral as illegitimate. Not once did I proclaim the state itself unlawful, for I am content to see our people rebuild. However, it should be rebuilt by those who can carry the dignity of those that came before, instead of usurping power and titles as is convenient.

Now, the issue of abandonment. In truth, as many before me, I was tired. That was, after all, why I had issued my resignation. There is no shame in stepping down so that others, who are more energetic and committed to the Silver State can take over. If I am denounced for leaving the state when there was no imminent threat to its existence, and left open a medium for democratic succession, then so should every single other mali’thill in existence. From Dio Astore, to Iatrilemar and Iaria Elervathar, to even Mr. Sullas himself, by clear account, they have taken no active role amongst our people for countless decades. By your logic, all these individuals left the state to its own devices, and thus abandoned it. That is ludicrous on the surface.

Regardless, your defense of Miss Solaria Soulheart neglects to mention how she herself attempted a military take over of an elected Council. That very act spits on lawful governance. Resorting to violence for the gain of power is what the mali’ata do, not the ‘thill. Her walk of purity is also incomplete, as ancient tradition requires that the guilty party surrender themselves to those their impure acts had injured to make amends. Solaria Soulheart has done no such thing, and continued with the accusations she leveled during her brief usurpation, which without proof, by your own law is slander.

You accuse of me hoarding the books. Call it what you will, the city was given a notice of evacuation. During the battle, someone had apparently destabilized an artifact at the heart of the city, causing its destruction. One should call it wise foresight for evacuating the most prized possessions of our people so that they may survive. As the leadership that demands them supports individuals who spit on our most valued traditions, I cannot, in good conscience, release them, lest the assorted knowledge is mistreated and eviscerated forever.

I have no qualms about the rise of new Enclave. Yet if you spit on the teachings of Larihei, than you cannot claim any right to the legacy of Haelun’or.”

  9. A silver haired mali'aheral would step forward. “I will speak for what the leadership of Fi’halen proclaim to be the Fallen Council. It is only right, as I was its last leader, and the only one that remains active upon Atlas. I come to speak my piece, as is my right as mali’thill

First, the matter of the Maheral. I claim that Dimaethor Visaj has no right to the mantle. It is true, that I have never had the honor, yet I have eyes, and will not remain silent. He claims to have been named by Athedil Haler’thilln, and while it is true Mr. Haler’thilln once bore that burden, he was stripped of any claim to it be the one who named him, Cenwall Maeyr’onn, for dereliction of duty and suspected impurities. Mr. Haler’thilln is an old mali’aheral, true, but he does not hold the right to undermine our fundamental traditions on a personal whim.

Second, the state of Fi’halen harbors the impure within its walls. The woman by the name of Solaria Soulheart resides in the silver city, a mali’ata who attempted to launch a military coup of elheial’thilln upon which I served as Okarir’mali after an open election. She claimed the rank of Okarir’tir with no election, and then proceeded to call for my banishment without proof or trial. The way of the mali’thill is not to cast judgement without investigation, for without sufficient information, a logical decision cannot be made. This also fails to mention that she profaned her flesh with ink to demonstrate religious symbolism, and then hid this fact from the elheial’thilln. I question why this leadership, which claims itself pure, would keep one who is devoted to violence and uncontrolled outbursts.

I deny the accusation that we abandoned the Silver State. One must only look at the dating of my Council’s proclamations to see that I had announced my resignation prior to the mobilization of the forces of the September Prince, an action taken to so that more able minds could lead our people. In truth, the mali’thill abandoned the State. Upon succeeding Sohaer Cenwall Maeyr’onn, I saw a dying thing, and sought to breathe life into it. Yet our elders and the wisest among us did not come to help it survive. The state was plagued by a cancer, and in retrospect, our work at the end only helped ease its passing. When we left, it was a city of ghosts, with no mali inhabiting its walls. If one claims we permitted it to die, then perhaps it was time, so that one day it could arise again, like Haelun’or of old.” Arelion Laurir’ante, the former Okarir’mali, concludes, and steps back. @Mithradites

Fellow mali’thill. The impending assault of the September Prince threatens the lives of our blessed kind, as well as our culture and most ancient traditions. Recognizing this threat, elheial’thilln hereby calls for a full evacuation of the city. All property of importance should be removed with haste, lest it is lost in the incoming siege.

Those visiting the city would find it progressively being emptied. Small caravans can be occasionally seen departing, headed for parts unknown.

    [OOC]

This is a notice to anyone with things left in Haelun’or to remove their items by the September Prince warclaim. (October 6th)

  13. "This is the issue we face. The degradation of our culture as maehr'sae hiylun'ehya is cast away. Heed my words, fellow mali'thill. If you hold any care for Haelun'or, then at least do not give credence to the words of one who keeps the company of degenerates that threaten our very existence. Mister Uradir spends his time with one Belestram Sylvaeri, the mali'ata who engineered the murder of our Council and Maheral in cold blood. One must ask oneself if a mali who tolerates such an insect has the best interests of his kin in mind." The Okarir'mali declares before returning to his own business.
