What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is playing and acting as a role/character that is not yourself.

What is metagaming?: Metagaming is using info that is not accessible to your character, but accesible to you as a person. An example could be if I was being attacked, and called my friends on Teamspeak to help, this would be metagaming because they use information accesible to them as a person, for their characters.

What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Power-emoting is doing things that should not be realistically possible for your character, this could be things that break roleplay immersion. An example could be if in a fight, a person in heavy armor performs multiple acrobatic moves, which he would be unable to because of the heavy armor.

In-Character Information

Character’s name: Dirk Novokain

Character’s age: 23 years old.

Biography: Dirk was born in Istria, in the year of 1529, though he did not live in Istria for more than mere months as he was adopted by his Uncle, Christiaan Novokain. Dirk has never learned the name of his parents, but he has been told he has the same hair colour as his mother. Dirk was raised on a farm near Savoy, as the only child to Christiaan (Even though adopted), Dirk was taught farming by his Uncle, but also swordfighting to some extend. In 1542, Chrstiaan travelled to Courland, when Christiaan returned he told Dirk many stories and tales from Courland, Dirk has wanted to visit Courland ever since.

Dirk and Christiaan's relationship became more and more strained in the years following, as Dirk wanted to know more of his parents, while Christiaan refused to tell him. When Dirk reached the age of 18, he was given a small dagger by Christiaan, who said it had once belonged to his Father. When Dirk was 20, a group of bandits tried to raid his Christiaan's farm, even though Christiaan told Dirk to help fight them off, Dirk instead hid in his room. In 1552, when Dirk was 23, he decided to leave for Istria, to gain new knowledge of his parents and what happened to them.

Personality Traits: Dirk is often seen as stubborn, and in some regards ignorant to the truth. He tries his best to act calm and relaxed around other people, but can easily lose his temper when alone. In situations where his life could be at risk, he tends to act cowardly. He also tends to be very forgetful.

Ambitions: Dirk aspires to become a recognized Knight, and to know who his parents are and what happened to them.

Strengths/Talents: While Dirk doesn't have many strengths, he is somewhat skilled at swordfighting, and is able to barter a deal. Him being stubborn is also sometimes looked on as a strength.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: He has a short temper when alone, which results in him always being very angry at himself. Dirk is very nervous about the way he performs and is a perfectionist.
