“Our Bastion’s wealth and security depend upon our ability to control and regulate trade, even if that means at the expense of our lesser associates.” - Silir Uradir, 1732

A View of International Economic Policies, Uradirism

    Penned by Silir Uradir

10th of the Amber Cold, 1734

The goal of every nation is to provide a suitable environment in which its population may thrive; to declare otherwise is to suggest that a government has no caring mind for their citizenry and are in need of a guiding hand from outside forces. That being said, it is beside the point. Haelun’or bears a successful, stabilized economy of prosperity and paramount affluence throughout our aging realm, but I cannot help myself in considering that we have the ability to further expand our affluence and security through a remarkable system formerly named Mercantilism, now properly coined Uradirism (with adjustments, for a non-elven system is always with faults).

Uradirism is a system in which a country’s inhabitants are put first; incontestably a priority that any ministry should undertake, namely the Silver State. The foremost policy introduced in Uradirism is the maximizing of exports whilst shrewdly constraining imports. It is by this notion that we will achieve the absolute equilibrium in trade, profiting off of receiving much whilst spending little. We will uphold and protect the rights of our government-approved merchants, who’s caravans will be sealed with the official mark of our Diarchy in order to ensure safe passage through the borders of the Most Favoured Lessers and our elven cousins.

A very crudely sketched image; the drawing representative of an Uradist’s conclusive view

The center of any nation’s success boils down to their wealth; whether it be in silver coins or bronze currencies (I thoroughly reject any notion of gold being a valuable source of wealth, in regards to importing or exporting). In order to provide a successful economy for the Mali’thill, I fully emphasize the conclusion that it is of high necessity for the Silver State to limit trading outside of the Motherland and it’s protectorates; this, of course, requires for us to expand our amount of protectorates in the future to fully develop and see vast success in Uradirism. Although the flow of trade will not be restricted, it will become our sole and apparent duty to make sure that more goods are exported rather than imported. In order to do this, we must enact a series of legislative documents to establish and solidify Merchant activity that caresses the Motherland.

The first of these documents will be ones concerning itinerant activities in regards to a nation’s (in this case, Haelun’or, as I have so ardently, claimed this document to be intended for) merchants and traders. In order to travel, a merchant is naturally required to have with them a caravan of some nature in order to maneuver their trade in an expeditious fashion. I suggest, one that we baptize any Motherland-based merchant with a Haelun’orian seal of transit (something I have already provided through the reinstitution of the ETHIC logo upon our international relations committee; the Elemyumiran). By marking the merchant vessels, we are considering them our own.

Two, we require all trades associated with our nation and it’s Silver Forest vassals (see: Nakamachi) to be conducted via these marked and traveling repositories. It is by this method that I ask the citizenry to consider supporting the introduction of enumerated goods. When a mali’thill merchant purchases goods to redistribute with a raised price (as is wise and just), or creates goods to sell, they will be required to filter certain textiles and items of interest back through the Motherland to receive the necessary tariffs. Any Silver Merchant would understand that it is their blessed duty to first provide for our Society, not just themselves - as I have so finely laid out. Any profit they make, some will go to our capital city (which, due to its elegance and continuation of bearing crotch fruit, is always in need of funds).

If necessary, Uradirism can even be used in times of conflict or bloodshed. We can utilize it to consistently restrict imports of food to tyrannical and nefarious nations (most, nowadays). Further, we can make it more difficult for a degenerated nation or putrescence infected taint to export gold. By ensuring the absence of wealth, we are ensuring the absence of food and the ability to endure. Their enslaved peoples will suffer for a time, but it will all be well when the Mali’thill save them from absolute and continuous oppression through an extension of Uradirism. Whilst these are drastic measures, they are only examples of what my ideal system could provide (or not provide, depending on who we regard as obscenely corrupted).

The Silver Citizenry should consider my communicated international economic policy. We are a profound people, and we exist to be foremost self-seeking - perhaps disappointing to the liberal, but a truth we will all learn to face. This document is, by no means, is an official procedure for our government. I will not intrude upon the Okarir’akaln’s commission, albeit this is my intellectual opinion of how an Okarir’akaln may go about our future ventures. Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya, Mali’thill.

    Silir Uradir sighs with relief.

    ELEMYUMIRAN

“Mali’thill are not evil. They are powerful. Among us are the noblest. We are only seen as evil because we do not apologize for seeking our true destiny; because only we know the truth about greatness. In a realm in which no one can be trusted besides our blessed citizenry, it is only right to grand ourselves privileges through our ambition and cunningness. But, we have many routes in which we may do that. Diplomacy is one.” - Silir Uradir, circa 1733

For decades, the Silver Elves have been making their greatness known to lesser cousins and favored allies throughout the continent. Formerly, this has been by means of lucky beholders and occasional letters to our most favored friends, or nefarious enemies. Now, the time has dawned in which we are to represent ourselves in an unequivocal fashion; through our beatified Couriers of Silver - the Elemyumiran.

    RANKS & FRAMEWORK

“It’s blowback. Now, it is our responsibility to maintain it.” - Dimaethor Visaj, circa 1710

    Okarir’san

Master of Word in literal translation, the Okarir’san performs all diplomatic duties for Haelun’or, and is additionally charged with the creation of documents as necessary for the Maheral and Sohaer. It is the blessed duty of this individual to ensure that Haelun’or remains up to date on all diplomatic endeavors, whether it be through the formation of the Elemyumiran or leaving the Motherland as to provide eye-to-eye conversation with any government authority outside of Haelun’ors territory.

    Elemyumir

The second-highest rank in the Elemyumiran, and the only other besides the Okarir’san. This secondary rank consists of all those willing to serve the Blessed Diarchy in diplomatic endeavors under the Okarir’san. It will be their absolute responsibility to attend meetings as necessary or represent Haelun’or in absence of higher authority. If deemed pertinent, the Okarir’san may task them with the establishment of documents or notices. Their authority overrides any Silver Councilor present - besides the Okarir’san and Okarir’tir - if a foreign courier or ambassador presents themselves in the Silver City when no other leading official is present. They may not promise or pledge any type of affirmed treaty, nor write the signature of any government official without the explicit approval of the Okarir’san, who receives his own affirmation from the Diarchy. Unlike the Sillumiran, the Elemyumir have no need to keep their identity hidden. They act on behalf of the State through their own identity.

    REGALIA

“The beauty is in the mask.” - Silir Uradir, circa 1685

    Okarir’san

The Okarir’san bears the revered colors of Haelun’or, matching his role as the voice of the Silver Elves and their sole representative besides the blessed Maheral and Sohaer.

    Elemyumir

The Elemyumir bear the natural colors of a second in command of many Medi’iran throughout the Silver State’s past and ongoing society. Their armor closely resembles the Okarir’sans, the only difference being in the color they bear upon their forms.

    INDUCTION

“Enlistment is the core of a Silver Citizen’s responsibility within our great Bastion; whether it be to pick up a spear and fight, dig out the trenches of battle, or simply brew tea within our tavern.” - Dimaethor Visaj, 1654

To be inducted into this blessed group of emissaries, speak to Okarir'san Aerendyl Lor'demar. Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya.

    (Kenno#3628)

  4. Silir Uradir releases a light sigh; almost inaudible towards those gathered around him that read the missive on the public notice board. The otherwise stark elf would be disappointed, dare one say sad

“We had our differences, but dare I say you were valued by me. Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya, Sullas.”

    He paused.

”And thank you for teaching me the disinfectant of asphyxiation.”

[!] A note would arrive to the Sohaer by way of courier.

    To the Sohaer,

It has been for the past few years that the nation of Sutica is to be refered to as the Free State of Sutica [Writ of Sutican Governance, Title VI, Article I, Line 1]. While previous titles are allowed as designations for the Free State in reference to previous laws and treaties, we would wish our allies to use a name which better reflects the nature of Sutican Governance in future public notifications.

    Sutica Eternal,

Dame Utaria “The Unwavering” Grandaxe Helenson-Anarion, Head Librarian of the Free State of Sutica, and Paladin of the Assembly of Xan.

Addressed to the Head Librarian of the Free State of Sutica,

We duly note your notice. Now that we have gotten over the formalities of such, it is evident that Sutica has attempted to be a well placed ally of our blessed diarchy. That being said, we fully expect that Sutica will aid in this endeavor by posting their own missive of support.

    Signed,

    Silir Uradir

  6. Silir Uradir squints at the notice with a feigned interest,

”Ah. Alas, he still uses those idiotic titles in the announcement disbanding all titl- never mind. They were never cared about anyways.”

    I’m writing it.

I wish you luck. It probably won’t pass. The LT were very clear that all the players are failing to do what they want and they will be writing one by themselves; otherwise, I would suggest you speak with the necromancy community on the matter and get an invite to the discord.

  8. Silir Uradir’s veiled gaze remains stark as he looks over the retort, returning it to his office deep within the solace of Haelun'ors looming walls. It would rest there, the elf showing little emotion.

-Sure, no public update I guess. But that doesn’t mean nothing has been done. The first loremag of the lore games has already been completed, and the results of it will be published/shared with the writers soon. As for things getting shelved, its not really about the lore games. Things get brought to our attention and they get dealt with. Just because it happens while the lore games are ongoing doesn’t mean its a result of the lore games.

    - God forbid there be character development outside of learning magic. If you have an accepted MA you are free to continue your learning, or to continue using the magic. Literally all you can’t do is teach or make magic items.

    - If the only thing you can think of as a reason to not take on a new student or make a magic item is “Gah, those damn skygods!!1!11!” then I really don’t know what to tell you. There are plenty of reasons you could come up with instead of blaming sky gods.

-You’re kinda right it has. We have hardly kept it a secret that the Shaman community fell very short in their nearly year long rewrite process. Many things were not finished, and those that were finished had tons of issues ranging from not making sense lore wise to not fixing the issues of extreme vagueness. But that’s not to say that the players cannot submit their own rewrites which will be graded alongside the LTs versions. The LT is simply working on a massive project to overhaul all aspects of Shamanism, and have actually gotten lots of feedback, input and help from the Shaman player base. Shamanism is getting this special LT treatment because of just how much it encompasses, and how many pieces all need to fit together. There are several other projects being worked on by the LT, but Shamanism is a very special circumstance.

Man, this makes me think of a question I had regarding LT written lore..

    Hows necromancy coming along?
