What is roleplaying?:Roleplaying is the act of putting oneself in the shoes of a character to act as that character in a fictitious or fantastical setting.
What is metagaming?: Metagaming is the use of out-of-character knowledge that a character would not have to gain an advantage. For instance, persecuting a player for stealing from you without anything to suggest they were the thief in-character.
What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Powergaming is performing an action to another player without giving them a chance to properly respond, for instance teleporting behind someone and cutting off their head all in one action.

Biography: Born in 1546, Tolvan grew up on the outskirts of Haelun’or, on the island of Tahn, where he lived with his family until the age of 14, until their home was attacked by the Undead. Tolvan survived the ordeal, but his parents were killed in the attack. Afterwards, he was adopted by a teacher in the city proper, whom he lived the next few decades of his life with. After reaching cultural adulthood at 50, Tolvan decided he wished to see the world, and left his home behind.
Since leaving home, Tolvan has sought ways to expand his knowledge and develop his natural talent f0r magic, while also picking up whatever other skills piqued his interest along the way. He’s also interested in making the money to repay the man who raised him after his parents died, and is searching for a means to do so. In the meantime, Tolvan has found that destroying undead is a satisfying way to get back at the monsters for the pain they caused him so long ago.
Personality Traits: Tolvan is calm and slow to anger, but at the same time capricious and wont to follow whatever impulse or thought comes into his head. He enjoys fun and laughter, and often prefers to take the scenic route even if it’s more dangerous or less practical. He firmly believes that the journey is more important than the destination. At the same time, Tolvan will often try to play things off as unimportant, or otherwise make himself look cool, out of vanity.
Ambitions: Tolvan travels in search of knowledge for the sake of knowledge, and adventure for the sake of adventure. He’s still young, and hasn’t found any grand purpose in his life as of yet.
Strengths/Talents: Tolvan is quick-witted, with a natural talent for magic and learning. He also has natural elvish grace and agility.
Weaknesses/Inabilities: Tolvan tends to be impulsive and overconfident, and occasionally finds himself in bad situations that he didn’t think before getting himself into.
Appearance: A 5’8” high elf with pale skin, blond hair, and purple eyes that seem to glow faintly, Tolvan often dresses in vaguely Arabian clothing well-suited to travelling in warmer lands.
