    Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature: In ages gone, Liches were slaves to Iblees. Today, the undead beings are free once more, striving ever towards mastery of the Arcane. A lich's soul is bound to a phylactery, which is typically a gem. It keeps them tethered to the living world. If the unthinkable happens (the destruction of one's own phylactery), their soul passes on, makings its way to the soul stream where it will wander for years until a Necromancer is capable of reanimating them. Liches are able to use their entire available mana pool before feeling exhaustion, because their skeletal bodies do not suffer the same strain from such as mortal flesh. However, newer liches are prone to overexpending their mana or being inefficient in its use. Other boons of these creatures are that they need not rest, eat or drink in order to maintain themselves. They also do not feel pain by conventional means. Liches retain the flaws of other undead in that they are weak to holy magic and aurum. In addition, liches still need to absorb lifeforce into thrive (which they can lifedrain from other things)-- but their own lifeforce can also be drained from them.

    Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature: A Morghuul, or “ghoul” is the undead husk of a person risen from the dead. They possess soul shadows, fragments of souls, and are only a part of their old selves. In order to sustain themselves they must feed on the lifeforce of other beings; failing to do so can drive them into a state of madness and incoherency. Morghuuls have the physicality of corpses. They shamble along at a slower pace than living beings, and cannot wield heavy armaments, but they also benefit from a higher tolerance to pain. Being remnants of their living selves, ghouls may suffer from lapses in memory, a hollowing of their personality and growing problems of the mind. They cannot be killed properly unless starved for months first, but are weak to aurum (which causes them great pain) and holy magic. They are unable to cast magic of their own.

    I am currently in search of  information pertaining to phoenixes as part of my ongoing research into the species. Mainly my undertakings are to satisfy curiosity, but in the future I hope to publish what I learn through this work.

    Biography

     

    Zanira Almasi, daughter of Amir Almasi and his wife Jasmine was born into a small desert community (located on the continent of Asul) perhaps two weeks travel from the nearest city. The isolation of the village meant that everyone there, knew everyone else and thus it was very close-knit. Everyone was also expected to pull their weight and to play their part, whether that meant milking livestock, or grinding up food, or, in Zanira's case, creating clothing for her younger siblings. As the eldest, she was expected to help her mother to run the household on a day to day basis, and to help their neighbours, and so on and so forth. Amir often put it that, if not everyone played their part, that the system would fall in on itself. It was why he felt so blessed not to have lazy children, because a lazy child was as good as  useless. This was, then, the mentality that Zanira grew up with. Most of her youth was spent running around after her siblings and aiding in the home. She did not have the time for anything else.

     

    Things changed for Zanira when a stranger, a trader, came through the village, with a map of other places that Zanira had never seen nor heard of before (beyond passing comments). Her home was far enough out from other places, that the goings about of others rarely concerned the people there. Zanira, however, young and practical as she was, sat down to listen to the man and his tales. They bowled her over, completely and utterly. For someone that had never seen beyond the same stretches of sand, the same four walls of their home, the trader's words were eyeopening. Zanira wanted to see some of the outside world for herself.

     

    Far from being an easy decision, choosing to leave was something she had to force herself into. It took sheer stubbornness to tell herself that she could leave, that her younger sister would help Jasmine and that all would be well.

     

    The next time a trader came by, she partnered herself to the caravan and departed with them. Journeying with them took her all about the continent, and then finally to a port... she has not looked back since. Although she parted ways with the trader, taking odd jobs instead to fund her travels, she has very few regrets about leaving home. Someday she will return, but for now the open road calls to her.
