What is Metagaming?: Metagaming is the use of knowledge gained out-of-character to obtain an advantage or otherwise influence activities while roleplaying. What is Power-emoting (Powergaming)?: Powergaming is when someone roleplays the actions of others without consent. This is typically done to grant oneself some sort of advantage. A common example is in combat roleplaying. A player will say that he swung his sword and cut his opponent. The opponent was not able to roleplay a response to the swing, and the player forced the opponent to get hit. This is powergaming. Instead, a player should only say he swung his sword, and the opponent should be allowed to emote his response. Read up on your character's race and be sure to add at least one accurate reference from the server lore): Randolph was born on a small farm outside of Metz. His mother had a great love for literature, and was a frequent visitor to the Grand Library of Dragur. His father wanted his son to have the relatively secure life of a heartland farmer, but his mother's influence drew young Randy to the books. He learned to read and write from the scholars at Dragur. By the age of 17, he had taught himself mathematics and was able to scribe dictations quite well. His interest in the structure of societies drove him to travel. For years, he has taken work as a scribe and a laborer to pay his way across Axios. He has accounted for numerous merchants, written copies of decrees for various governments, and witnessed and recorded several battles. Now that he is reaching the latter half of his life, Randolph has developed a desire to leave a legacy. He has worked long and hard to mold his observations into functioning theories. He wants to share this knowledge with whoever is willing to hear it, in the hopes that he might inspire a love of learning in others the same way his mother did in him. Personality Traits: Randolph is a fairly personable man. He tends to stand with a slight hunch, counteracting his potentially intimidating size. When speaking with someone, his deep voice is softened by a slow and thoughtful manner of speech. He also has a habit of asking leading questions when trying to get a point across. Ambitions: Randolph wishes to be a respected scholar of applied science, particularly economic, political, and social theory. Strengths/Talents: Randolph is a lifelong learner, and is very well-read and articulate. His writing and arithmetic skills are well honed. He is also very invested in holistic fitness, so he is quite strong and good with his hands. Weaknesses/Inabilities: Randolph has very little training with swords or bows. His age has also caused him to lose a few steps in terms of speed and agility. This makes him a relatively poor fighter with anything other than bare fists.
