What is Roleplaying?: Roleplaying is where you actively take on the persona of another person/being and behave, speak and do as they would. Essentially playing the role of someone who is not yourself. What is Metagaming?: Metagaming is where you use OOC information in an IC context, this is usually done with the intention of benefitting from the information or preventing something. An example is that OOCly you know an attack is going to happen to your character, but IC you have no clue. But you use the information to avoid being attacked. What is Power-emoting (Powergaming)?: Powergaming is essentially where you force actions on other characters and remove their chance to decide what to do in response. An example of powergaming would be. *Eliza steps forward, brandishing a butter knife that has been sharpened. She rushes forwards at incredible speed and cuts the throat of Roderick, killing him instantly.* In-Character Information Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! High Elf Character’s age: (upon application, your character must be 18 or older and depending on the race, they can be over five hundred years old!) 60 Biography (This is one of the most important sections of the application. Please take your time and make it a decent paragraph long. Read up on your character's race and be sure to add at least one accurate reference from the server lore): (where does your character come from?; where have they travelled to?; what year were they born in? et cetera.) Lazarus Scaato was born in the upper districts of Taliyna'maehr to a wealthy family of pureblood high elves in the year 1572, from the outside looking in it was obvious to tell that the boy would grow up rather privileged and wouldn't have to work for many things as a child. From the moment Lazarus was capable of reading he'd spend most of his days reading books in the Grand Library of Dragur. It is here where he found his passion for knowing things, you could say that his wealth ridden upbringing coupled with his desire to continuously acquire knowledge is what led to him becoming a rather greedy person. At the age of 23 he became rather bored with his life, he had read about so many things but hadn't seen any of it. So after a lengthy and rather loud argument with his parents, he collected his things, including a few empty books to document his travels and some maps in order to help his travels go ahead without the major risk of getting lost. He spent many of his days in various settlements where he spoke with the locals, all in an attempt to build up his knowledge of various cultures and locations. However his ultimate destination was Johannesburg, he spent a few days there and left only a few months before it was destroyed by the thanium bombs. Looking back, he might have lost his life if he had taken up some of the opportunities he had been offered whilst in the city. Appropriately traumatised by such a fact he decided to return home and settle down until he was a little older. Back in Taliyna'maehr, he decided to start earning his keep in life, so he turned to the local herbalist who began teaching him some knowledge of plants and basic alchemical knowledge. He continues down this path, occasionally dabbling a little petty theft. It is to be noted he didn't dabble too much but was never caught. Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?) Lazarus is a rather intelligent elf, having spent most of his childhood reading, this has led him to develop a habit of sneering at people who are less intelligent than him. Lazarus is greedy and without empathy meaning, he likes getting stuff and doesn't really care who gets hurt in order for him to achieve it. Lazarus is also a little sadistic, having grown up as a higher class than others he often got away with tormenting them and causing them some pain, something he surprisingly enjoyed quite a bit. If Lazarus is caught when he is frustrated, confused or nervous he will often be seen picking at the skin on his lips, leaving him with quite sore lips. Lazarus freaking loves a well-cooked steak, claiming "It tastes divine upon the tongue". Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) As a child Lazarus grew up reading piles upon piles of books, and the ones that caught his interest the most were the books pertaining to magic in all its forms. He found the stories of powerful mages fighting epic battles to be awe-inspiring and he always hoped to learn the arcane arts and become a powerful mage. And to maybe even have an epic tale written about him. However, as he grew he developed his views on the world. And whilst Magic still endlessly fascinates him, he has developed more of an interest in crime. Having what he likes to refer to as a 'pipe dream' which consists of him becoming the worlds most powerful crime lord. Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?) Besides from being naturally proficient in Alchemy and Enchanting, he likes to spend a lot of his time taking a step back from things and looking at the big picture. Having spent hours upon hours honing his perception he would likely claim that he is far more adept at noticing smaller details in things than others. He hates when he doesn't notice things. In addition to this, he is well versed in reading, taking little time to fully read a book and understands its contents, this would likely help him were he to come across something hard to understand. Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) Lazarus needs to work greatly on his compassion, many a time has come where he has been put in a situation where he should care and should help, but just hasn't. Mainly due to a lack of care for whatever the situation was about. In addition to this, he can at times be very greedy, whether it be for material possessions (mainly wealth) or knowledge that expands his intellect. His greed can often lead him to put aside his moral values in order to try and obtain something, a trait which often gets him into trouble with authorities. He is also terrified of Spiders. Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair colour?; scars?) Lazarus has a head of messy dark brown hair, something he doesn't really care about brushing or keeping tidy. This is coupled with his healthy skin which is without any blemishes, something he likes to describe as flawless. Standing at a proud height of 6'1" he isn't the tallest elf you will come across, however, he is far from being the smallest. His eyes are a deep green colour, which he describes as being lucky since green is his favourite colour.
