Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Phantoms are the remnants of descendants who – be it by sheer willpower, preternatural intervention from a mystic, or even unfinished business on the mortal plane – have been returned to the material world from the Soul-Stream.

Somber beings, Phantoms often sulk over their demise – curious as to what, or, in some circumstances, who might have been the cause of their decease – but to little or no avail. When a Phantom does eventually learn about the cause of its death, it enters into a fugue state in which it begins to reflect on itself and whether its death was something that was meant to be or not. 

REVENANTS
Phantoms begin as Revenants. They pose little threat to their surroundings and are often detached from reality. Because of their bisected state of being, Revenants are more receptive to pain than any other kind of Phantom and will take a while to recover from any wound inflicted on them.

In terms of appearance, a Revenant, usually, will manifest as its past self – in gray-scale. 

POLTERGEISTS
Phantoms that haven't come to terms with their deaths are known as Poltergeists. They are perpetually disconcerted beings, possessing strength twice-fold than that of the average Revenant. Due to their inability to manifest under the sun’s light, they are nocturnal and consider the night their domain. The voice of a Poltergeist is also very hoarse and shrill – something very unpleasant for anyone unlucky enough to be within hearing distance of ones wails or shrieks.

In terms of appearance, a Poltergeist will usually manifest as a viciously marred version of its past self, accentuated by sprawling streaks of reds, grays and blacks that seep from its body. 

SPECTERS
Phantoms that have made their peace and come to terms with their deaths, on the other hand, are known as Specters. Polar opposites of Poltergeists, they are melancholic beings – emanating feelings of comfort and tranquility to those around them. Like other kinds of evolved Phantoms, Specters also possess more strength and resolve than that of the average Revenant.

In terms of appearance, a Specter will usually manifest as the ‘best’ version of its past self, accentuated by bright blues, yellows and whites.

Furthermore, Specters, unlike Revenants and Poltergeists, are also free to move on if they see fit or have no reason to stay in the material world any longer than they please. 

All Phantoms are weak to Aurum, as well as Voidal and Holy magics.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look? 

Just as he did in life, Savely stood as tall as ever even in death – clad from head-to-toe in the lambast uniform of House Ivanovich. The left side of his helmet was concaved and varnished in blood, serving as an eternal reminder of his grim demise.

Do you really think ~53,376 people did that? I said 80-90% were bots, and I think 10,600 creating a forum account before logging in as a wandering soul, for whatever reason, and then never applying, is a very generous figure.
