Haltorel was born in a small forest on the edge of The Evergreen and always dreamed of becoming adept in the magic arts. However, when he left home to journey to the a nearby city where he hoped to learn the art of arcane combat he was attacked by a groups of bandits. Seeing that he wasn’t carrying much in the way of riches the raiders put Haltorel to work in their camp, having him clean their stables and make them food.
However, one of the men (Brerkum) took a liking to the young elf and when Haltorel became interested in the ways of swordsmanship combat Brerkum decided to teach him. After two years of living in the Thieves camp, taking secret combat lessons with Brerkum, Haltorel felt confident in his abilities and challenged the leader of the raiders to a duel. Their swords clashed and the sound of metal scraping against metal rang through out the camp. In the end the captain of the bandits lay bleeding on the ground. Haltorel announced he would be leaving and he walked out of the camp, no one tried to stop him.
Haltorel hurried to where his village was, however when he arrived all he found were ruins. No one was there, not even any bodies. After an investigation Haltorel found many tacks leading into the woods and so he went after them. It wasn’t before he was hopelessly lost and he knew there was no way of him finding his way out again. So Haltorel decided to study how the animals went about surviving and soon learned how to live in the forest by himself. He also became “friends” with some of the animals and learned how to somewhat communicate with them.
It was here in the forest that Haltorel found an ancient temple and upon entering was greeted with a strange feeling and suddenly felt a bond with the whole forest and the creatures in it. With this primal Druidic instinct he sensed a creature of pure evil residing somewhere far away and he felt a calling to challenge and destroy it before it laid waste to wherever it was.
So Haltorel left the forest to seek out and destroy this monstrosity and he has been searching for it ever since.
