  1. Upon hearing the news, Ser Aldis Chase signed the Lorraine. He thought back fondly of the time he spent serving under the great Prince. "You were one of the few people I looked up to. What you have done for the Empire can not be topped by many. May you rest in peace, Cassius Horen.

  2. Altough I know this thread is massive bait and an April Fool’s thread, seeing some serious replies on here does make me want to also contribute to this.

If there is an issue with a new player, or you feel like a new player should not have been accepted. Rather than going to the forums to complain, either go and actively help out that new player, teach them how to roleplay or contact a Community Staff member. That way you can actually not only help them, but us too.

  3. Aldis Chase eyes the poster, scanning every single word, reading most of them two to three times over. ”Mutational Modification....So like abominations but worse?” The man muttered before continuing on. ”Ah yes biological warfare! That’s shooting druids out of trebuchets, right?” He then took the poster with him and walked off, for perhaps his fellow Legionnaires could explain to him what this madness was about!

What magic(s) will you be learning?

             Earth Evocation

Link a MA of a magic your character already uses that is in the same archetype as the magic you are self teaching:

             N/A

How did you learn this magic(s)?

Self taught back in Anthos using tomes.

MC name of OOC overseer (Note: they must either have a TA in this magic on any character or be a member of the MT):

             N/A

Offer an explanation of the magic(s) you are learning:

I will get to the explanation of the magic below this, but first I think I need to explain a few things. This character is an Elf that learned magic all the way back in Anthos, right after MA’s got removed. It is because of this that I do not have solid evidence in the form of an MA to show that I did in fact T5 earth evocation many, many years ago. The reason I am making this application is because I would like to bring back my character, including his magic. I made an LTreq and was told to make an MA, so I will do my best to prove that I knew earth evocation!

Earth evocation is like the other evocations, an Arcane Magic. Evocation magic bases itself on using the Void to call forth elements, tearing the from the Void and “evocating” them in the real world. Just like with other types of Evocation Magic, an Earth Evocation mage can not manipulate real earth. For example, if one is standing in a desert, they can not move around the sand they are walking on. Something else worth noting is that while a mage can evoke multiple rocks/shards at once, they can not be put together to create one larger rock.

Earth Evocation is the Elemental Evocation magic focussed on creating the elements related to earth, for example stone, dirt or sand. It is therefore a very versatile type of Elemental Evocation, for it is not limited to just stone or just dirt. The earth the mage pulls from the Void is  not a real element as it would appear in the real world. What the mage creates is not permanent either, rather the element they are evoking will only remain in place for as long as they can keep up their spell. An example of this would be the following:

As a mage begins to evoke a shard of stone, it would be floating infront of their hand. It would require a great deal of concentration to keep this rock in place, and should the mage lose their concentration by a distraction or even a sudden hit they receive the rock will dissapear, as if it was never there.

Altough versatile in nature, Earth Evocation has its limits. There are the basic red lines which apply to all Elemental Evocation magic:

    • You can not evoke something in a location which you do not have sight of.
      • Elaboration: You can’t evoke a rock/boulder behind a wall, since you would not see what is behind that wall.
    • You can not manipulate the element in the real world. What you are creating is a copy of the real element, and you are only able to create these. It is only possible to control the element that the caster themselves evoked.
      • Elaboration: The same example as mentioned above, when the mage is traveling through a desert they can not start moving around the sand all around them, for their magic is limited to the creation of “fake” elements.
    • You are not immune to your own element.
      • Elaboration: I believe this one is the most obvious of the basic red lines, as it applies to all Elemental Evocations. A mage who controls and even masters the evocation of a certain element will never be immune to said element. A T5 Earth Evocation mage can still be crushed to death by a boulder, just like anyone else.

Specific red lines applying only to Earth Evocation:

    • You can not Evoke refined materials.
      • Elaboration: Something that I believe is very important for Earth Evocation magic, for without this redline there could be a lot of abuse. While a mage can evoke unrefinded ore (altough it would require a great amount of effort and mana). If able to, in theory an Earth Evocation caster could create endless supplies of refined Iron, or even Aurum. I believe this redline to be extremely important (just like the other ones), for it can avoid certain powergaming situations.
    • When evoking gold, its properties do not come with it.
      • This is something that touches more upon the fact that what is being evokes, is not “real”. Aurum (or gold) is known for its ability to be extremely damaging to the undead, but this property is completely los when the Aurum is evoked.

The abilities of a skilled Earth Evocation really have no limit. From evoking razor sharp stone shards, to large boulders, to even shields. Earth Evocation is very unique when compared to the other Elemental Evocations, for it is much less limited by what it can do, since its element is so widespread.

Provide evidence you've a proper means of learning this magic(s):

So a brief explanation of how I actually learned the magic. My magic was completely self taught, with the help of tomes that were given to me in New Malinor, all the way back in Anthos. I do not remember the exact date of me begining to learn magic, but I know it was very shortly after Magic Applications were first removed. My first tier actually did not involve any casting until I was close to tier 2. I remember the learning proces I underwent really well, even though it was ages ago.

    Tier 1:

    • The first half of Tier 1 would consist of my character studying the element further. The first element I ever learned to evoke was dirt. The first two OOC weeks of my first tier were Cillion studying the element up close. Examining how it reacted to other elements, but also studying its properties. It’s weight, taste, structure. A completely understanding of the element was what my character achieved by the end of these first two weeks.

    • The second half of Tier 1 is where I can vaguely recall receiving help from another mage. I do not however remember who this was IC or OOC, what I do remember is how they helped my understand the Void, and how to connect to it. Most of this tier was spent indoors, instead of going out to study the element Cillion would remain in his home in New Malinor, meditating as much as possible to achieve complete concentration. It was in this proces that I attempted to connect to the Void, using multiple rolls to achieve this connection. During the first few attempts at this, from what I can remember I would need to roll a 15 or higher to briefly establish a connection. These actions would be exhausting though, as Cillion would not be used to this. It was at the very end of this tier that through his knowledge of dirt, he was able to finally evoke it. There would only be a few grains to come out of this, but it was a succes in the end.

    Tier 2

    • After succesfully evoking his first few grains of dirt, Cillion would spend the remainder of Tier 1 to perfect this. The more he attempted this, the faster it would go, and the better. As he was able to evoke the dirt much faster than before, and in larger quantities the roll requirments became lower and lower, however at this point I would still be rolling to maintain a connection to the Void.

    • About a week into Tier 2 Cillion began to study different elements, this time putting the focus on gravel, and therefore also stone in general. While doing this, he would still practise evoking dirt. It would just like before take 2 OOC weeks to understand the element enough to properly evoke it. It would however take less effort than before, seeing as he would have already evoked dirt quite often, it would take him much less effort than all the way at the start.

    • Near the end of Tier 2 is where the practise really began to pay off. Being able to evoke small rocks much faster, and being able to launch them with a small amount of power. These actions would still be extremely exhausting. The majority of Tier 2 was spent perfecting the evocation of dirt and stone. Establishing a connection to the Void much faster than before, and trying to evoke larger rocks than before. Near the end of Tier 2 a medium sized spike would be the most complicated element that Cillion was able to evoke.

    Tier 3 and 4

    • Tier 3 was what I would call the practise tier. At this point evocations would be done much faster and smoother than when compared to Tier 1. Here it was all about perfecting the abilities known to my char, and expanding upon them.

    • During tier 3 the progression of Cillion started to accelerate. Halfway through this tier the rocks he was able to evoke would be much larger than before. It is through constant practise that Cillion’s ability to use his magic in combat also began to develop. My memory of both Tier 3 and Tier 4 are quite blurry, as both of them were really about mastering the magic, rather than learning new abilities and spells.

    • Through constant practise, it was near the end of Tier 4 that Cillion came close to the point of mastering his craft. His connection to the Void would no longer require rolls, and the size and amount of rocks he was able to evoke increased.

    • There would be daily practise during this tier, essentially constantly evoking when physically possible (this takes exhaustion into account). The progress made during these 2 OOC months would be quite well.

    Tier 5

    • Tier 5 is a tier where I remember certain moments of, more specifically an ability that Cillion focused on alongside of his perfection of more basic spells. This ability would be summoning a boulder. This was something that Cillion witnessed another Earth Evocation mage do, right outside of the gates of New Malinor. This is a roleplay situation I remember very well, as it was at this point that Cillion began to practise this too. The majority of tier 5 was about practising this specific ability. It took a great deal of effort and time, but after 3 OOC weaks Cillion’s ability to evoke these boulders would be close to perfection. Still taking 5-6 emotes to do so, they would however be launched at a much higher velocity than what was originally possible for the mage.

Edit: Something I forgot to add but would be important nontheless. I do understand that the way I progressed through these tiers would be somewhat different from the way it is described now in the Earth Evocation guide and lore threads. I can not confirm if this was due to the lore being different back then, or just due to it being self-taught, thus requiring more effort and practise.

So, I am fully aware that this is not the best proof one can provide in order to get their magic back. The most annoying part being that I started to learn magic shortly after the MA’s were removed. I went to ask around with the people who roleplayed with Cillion in the past, and one of them, ninjaclimb1 (who roleplayed as Cillion’s child in Anthos) actually did confirm that he knew Earth Evocation. Screenshots of this conversation will be added.

Something else that I found while going through my old forum posts, is that Cillion was the housemage in Fenn for house Targarin. This would be confirmed in the citizen application thread, where it is stated as his profession.

Lastly the little piece of proof I can provide, is that Cillion became a student of the Uhiernan’maehr magic academy.

While I can not 100% prove that I did in fact Tier 5 Earth Evocation, I suppose the last thing I can give you is my honesty. It would be great to be able to bring my character back, together with his magic. Hopefully the provided information on the learning proces and the following screenshots will be helpful!

Princedom of Fenn citizen application thread.

    Academy thread.

    Screenshot 1

    Screenshot 2

Altough the two screenshots do not provide a lot of details, it does show that ninjaclimb recalls him being a mage. The main issue with finding solid proof through people I interacted with is that most of them have quit lotc, or just don’t remember it in general. I hope these will be enough, should there be any more questions or if you want me to elaborate on certain parts, feel free to contact me on Discord!
