In the year 1651, Faeren Nalethendil was born in the city of Okarn’thilln to a family of middle class merchants, who now live in Fi’hallen after the loss of Okarn’thilln. Faeren’s father Varil owned three modest seagoing vessels, and raised his son with the intention of him one day succeeding him as head of the company. However, while young Faeren was enticed by the freedom seafaring offered, he had no love for business or trade. He longed to study the arts of magic, to learn everything he could about the strange secrets of the mystic world. He was always curious, and studied anything he could get his hands on. Faeren had always possessed a sharp intellect, even by Elven standards, and harbored a deep, curious wanderlust. He knew he could not spend his life on such tediums as trade negotiations and business matters. Shortly after his coming of age at fifty years old, Faeren announced his intentions to see more of the world, and to seek apprenticeship as a wizard. This greatly displeased his father, but much to his surprise was met with support from his mother Elenil, who assured him that in time his father might come to accept his choice as well.
