To his Holiness High Pontiff Everard VI, In light of the recent Michaelite Schism perpetrated by the crowns of Savoy and Oren, the two subsequent excommunications of the Emperor and Empress, the conflict between Haense and Oren, as well as the bestowing of ‘Fidei Defensor’ and moving of the Holy See to Haense, all of which have contributed to a rift forming between the Orenian Empire and the Canonist Church, changes must be made to the Supreme Order of Ex. Owyn. Formed in the Second Golden Bull of Albarosa by High Pontiff Owyn III, as a successor to the Palatinate Guard who served High Pontiff James II most faithfully, under the guidance of Holy Sir Armand de Rennes, the Supreme Order of Ex. Owyn fulfilled the same duty, in the case of the Red Diet of Karosgrad to the death, of defending the Church and its clergy. Abstaining from outside political influence and instead maintaining their allegiance to the Church and the High Pontiff, not a secular state, nor a King or Emperor, they upheld their oaths. Unfortunately, at this time, the Supreme Order of Ex. Owyn are few in number, and fewer still are loyal, with most failing to fulfil their duties as outlined in Canon Law: §1. The purpose of an Order of Holy Knighthood is the defense of the faithful and the Church through Holy Knights. §4. Holy Knights swear vows of obedience to the High Pontiff and owe their allegiance first to his office. Rather, the large majority of those that remain either reside in Savoy or Oren, leaving your person, the rest of the clergy and holy sites without protection in these most treacherous times, with those in Oren choosing instead to serve an excommunicated Emperor in war, against your wishes, forgoing their vow of obedience to you. I propose that, as High Pontiff Owyn III did for the Palatinate Guard when the Supreme Order of Ex. Owyn was created to take its place, the oathbound members of the Order should be released, and only those truly loyal to the Church and the Vicar of GOD may come to the Holy See for the opportunity to restore their oaths. Further, I recommend future recruitment of the Order be stricter, to ensure only the most loyal and dedicated members of the flock, in the same mould of those such as martyr Bl. Nicolas Barclay, are chosen to fill its ranks. These Holy Sirs must be prepared to leave their homes and families to fulfill their duty to the Church, the clergy, and your office, and to forgo any allegiance to a secular power, in contrast to most of the current crop.
