In 1670, Aleth was born to two Dark Elves in the Dominion of Malin city named Caras Elder. He grew up here among hardly any other elven children, often spending his time not playing like the few other children, but instead reading. He was fascinated with the tales of old in which heroes did spectacular things. Aleth wished he could be like them, but in the few training sessions his father tried to get him to do, he failed most of them and was not skilled with a sword, bow, or any weapon for that matter. He simply preferred to focus on reading and learning about different historical things. When war broke out with the Vaeyl, Aleth was just a young Dark Elf who had hardly matured. His parents went off to fight against the Vaeyl and fell to their blades. Aleth was distraught and found consolation in the praising of spirits and his ancestors, becoming a strictly conservative follower of them. He continued reading and specifically read mostly on Dark Elf and Orcish history. The Orcs were always closely related spiritually to the Dark Elves and Aleth recognized this. He commonly wrote in his journal about different orcs and Dark Elves that he hoped his parents met in their afterlife. Once Caras Eldar and the Dominion of Malin fell, Aleth simply spent most of his time at the Cloud Temple, eating with the monks and sleeping in a tent. He read the books he could find and sometimes travelled to different cities to read the books they had there.
