    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: To metagame is to use information unavailable to the character in a roleplay context. In other words, everything that a character knows and does must be coherent with their circumstances and experiences.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: To powergame is to unrealistically roleplay as an overpowered character, disregarding the concept of "giving and taking". Examples of this might be consistently dodging all enemy attacks or flat-out ignoring any kind of weakness against all common sense.

Hearing the gentleman's last sentence, Awel's face would lit up, a single nod being elicited by the dreams of a peaceful, long life. Yet, the words coming out of the sailor's mouth would be dry and concise.

"I am not here to do business with you, unfortunately. Carry on," he would say, still giving the man a nod of thanks before departing into the crowd. Eyes locked on the precious goods littering the stalls, Awel's mind would already be making plans, both unconsciously and not.
