In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is when you use out of game knowledge to benefit your in game character. This is bad because your ingame character shouldn't know these things.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming is when you take away your opponents choices, especially in emote combat. Instead of swinging at someones arm, cutting it off, you should emote: swings at arm with intent of cutting it off.

Aglanon was born and raised in the Isle of Than in Axios. In a fairly normal household he learned skills like any other Wood Elf would need. For the first 20 years of his childhood things were normal. He learned the things that would be taught to any normal wood elf. Especially skills in the area of how to make powerful bows and a strong knowledge of how to use them. He also received basic training is sword combat. After the orc invasion of long ago his family considered it important for every male to have a basic knowledge of combat. He also learned the more useful skills though such as the Elf faith, Aspectism, which he got a basic knowledge of. He learned to appreciate and care for nature at a young age. Though playing with his friends in the forest and trees, he became much more quick and agile. However, this normal life didn't last long, while he and his brothers were visiting some older relatives in a nearby village, an orc raiding party came upon them with brutal force. The few guards not suspecting the attack, quickly fell, along with the whole village. Aglanon's grandfather showed him the back door which opened to the nearby forest and simply said, "RUN!!" After a hard run he was able to hide from the orcs which seemed to move slightly faster than he could, despite his years of racing around in the forest. Waking up the next morning realizing that he was lost, he found a small clearing where he crafted a small tent, along with a simple bow and a few shots. Soon he left and after some days roaming, he found a road which led to a village. There he found a small band of elf warriors who were looking for recruits to go on a raid. Despite him being a kid, they saw some potential and allowed him to go along as an archer, staying well behind the lines. Aglanon would go one this raid and many others with this same militia group, always staying behind the lines as an archer at the leader's orders. Through this life, he saw much of the world including the violent side. He also significantly improved his bow skills during this 25 years. One day he realized that he had about worn out his welcome. He also realized that he was practically an adult(he is 49). on account of this, he and one other friend, left to find a different life. Of course, Aglanon first wanted to go back to Than to check on his relatives. Upon returning he was able to find after taking to several people, that his mother had stabbed herself after hearing of her son's death. His father became a drunkard, who after wasting all his money at the bar, was finally murdered by some of his more brutal creditors who he had not paid off. His brothers he was told had all left or been killed in the orc raid. He then figured he would start a new life and left for the Dominion of the Elves in Atlas. Soon after his 50th birthday, he arrived.
