Zan'iq was born near the Cloud Temple. He was fascinated by all the different people as he grew up and wanted to talk to all of them, to the dismay of his parents. Zan'iq wanted to learn all he could of the world, and make friends all over. As he grew, he learned how to cook, and would make food for the foreigners if they seemed weary, in exchange for knowledge of more recipes and the rest of the world. He never believed his parents when they warned of people wanting to harm him or take his belongings because of the nearby protection of the Cloud Temple, and even the angriest of people seemed to calm when they ate the meals he prepared. With all the knowledge he gathered from travelers going to the Temple, Zan'iq became more and more curious about the rest of the world, and decided he would go see it when he came of age. He knew of the conflicts between nations and such from travelers, but was determined to see the world anyway.
