Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

As I half heartedly looked sat onto the cushion and looked over to the old woman I felt a weird sense of uneasiness. Maybe it was the weird smell of her candles or maybe it was my nervousness getting the better of me. I told her "I came to these lands in a search of a new beggining, a new life. To be honest it's not like I had much of a choice. My old life is over. I am the son of an infamous inkeeper out west, our family wasn't exactly noble, but we sure had nobles coming to our tables to feast. I was meant to be the successor of my father and of his tavern however my younger brother had other plans. After the death of our mother he blamed me for poisoning her and due to his natural charisma, my father believed him and banished me from our home without a second thought. I was left to wander the cold winter alone until I heard about this swamp. I heard that here would be a good place to start something myself, meet some new people and perhaps open my own tavern and one day exert vengeance on my brother for what he did to me." The hag closed her eyes and said with a soft tone "The persuit of vengeance will only bring more suffering to it's seeker". I thanked her for the advice but I didn't want to listen to her thouh, my rage and ambition were bigger than me, I admit. Upon leaving she offered me to sleep in her tent for the night but I refused and wished her all the best.
