In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Play within the bounds of one's character, avoid forcing actions on other characters, proceed with "attempts" rather than immediate actions.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: By granting one's character knowledge that they would not be privy to within the world, it can allow for powergaming or disruption of in-character conduct and storytelling. It can also create power imbalances!

Character Name: Elakarindor
Character Race: Dark Elf
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 41

Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

(Before I start, the text limit for the physical description seems extremely prohibitive- my browser may just be bugged, but it seems to only allow me to enter 26 words before it reaches the max? I'll just enter what I intended to put there down here!)

[A 'ker somewhere between lanky and rotund, thin at the extremities and somewhat pudgy at the midsection (although not in such an excess of flesh that one could dub it as indicative of a particular vitality), standing at around 6'4". His eyes are hazel, leaning more towards green, usually accompanied by heavy, drooping bags, and his unkempt, messy white hair drapes down over his shoulders- occasionally bundled into a bushy ponytail. He has almost-avian facial features, a forward nose and an understated chin (which only accentuates his pointiness). He tends to dress in garb both luxurious in composition- favoring finer fabrics on all occasions- and relatively easy to wear, often robes whose sleeves widen rather than taper down as they reach the wrists.]

Elakalindor shifts as he eases into the seat, sighing before awkwardly correcting his legs, fixing them in a crossed position and smiling at the elderly woman. "Ah, you have? Luara knows I've been waiting for a friendly face... well, then, I hail from a guild loyal to Clan Delevoye- not for study of the mysteries, mind you, much respect due to all the Saints- I find my niche in the natural sciences, and I make my expedition here on a grant of research towards the advancement of mycoturgy- a personal interest of mine".
